Science Nerds (And Everybody Else) REJOICE! 8/2/2006

This is, by far, one of my favorite joints in the city. You simply can not beat a museum that not only allows you to TOUCH EVERYTHING, but encourages you to do so! I should know, I used to work there as an Explainer (those orange-clad high school kids that come and interact with you and the exhibits). DO NOT MISS - Cow's Eye Dissection: Gross and fun - Upstairs - Vision/Optical Illusions: Simply the best! No, you are not high - you just feel like it! - The Drawing Board: Make an awesome piece of art to take home but sign up early! Once the sign-up sheet is filled, you are SOL. INISIDER TIPS: - First Wednesday of every month ADMISSION IS FREE! - Take a sandwich with you and go eat outside. The cafe is too expensive for so-so food. FUN FACT: - Who says you can't celebrity-sight in San Francisco? Celebs that frequent the Exploratorium a lot ( I can vouch - I have personally seen them): Robin Williams, Kirk Hammet (Metallica), and James Hetfield (Metallica), to name a few, love the exhibits there! In a nutshell, this place rocks and truly deserves all of the accolades it receives. A truly wonderful place. more

Exploratorium 1/4/2006

Explortorium is located in the northern part of San Francisco near the Marina district and Chrissy fields beach. It is a very nice and interesting place for students to go and explore (hence, the name) and learn a lot of different science experiments. They also sell lots of cool stuff at the souvenior shop but some of things are pricey. more

what a place! 8/12/2005

this palce has it all. all the scientific stuff you've learned at school, well you can find it here at this wonderful place. there are always tons of kids running around looking at the cool exhitbits. i love coming here and just see things myself. this place is such a blast. totally recommend this. you cannot miss out on this!! more

Explore the Exploratorium 8/5/2005

This is a terrific place to explore with the whole family. My wife, my three young daughters and I really enjoyed browsing through all the science exhibits. Everything in here is interactive in that you can touch, smell and try many of the exhibits displayed on the floor. The admission fee is pretty reasonable and there is plenty of parking. The grounds outside is also very beautiful and quite picturesque. Don't be surprised to see wedding pictures being taken on the Exploratorium's grounds because it is a very popular site for that sort of activity. more

Fun Place 7/16/2005

Almost every year, my school would take our class to the San Francisco Exploratorium. If you haven't been there about a bilion times, it's really fun. The main highlight of the museum (they even have a commercial for it) is the cow's eye dissection (everybody's so engrossed with the eye, they don't llisten to the person who's describing what he's doing and why he's doing what he's doing). It's pretty hideous- last year a boy even fainted. They have some pretty fun displays (I love the hands on projects the best). more

Fun Museum 7/15/2005

I've learned so much here and I wasn't even there that long. They have everything for a small child to an adu.t. I love coming here and having a blast. You can literally lose track of time when you are in here because there's so much to look at. I love their exhibits and toys. I will definitely go here again. It's free every first Wednesday of the month. more

Not that Interesting 7/15/2005

I first went to the museum with a couple of friends because we were bored. However, I was utterly disappointed by this museum. This museum has two floors and has exhibits of technological things. Most of it was boring and not interesting. I spent my time in the shadow box, by even that was very boring. I would not come here again. more

w00t! 7/10/2005

I absolutely adore the Exploratorium! I'm not big on museums, but this place is so much fun! There are so many hands-on science experiments! It is a great museum for kids, because it is both interactive and educational. It is not super expensive, but do expect to spend about $30 or more if you're going with the family. This is a great place though and I recommend going there sometime, especially if you live in the area and have a family. more
