Evolution Experience

I have been going here since they opened, and had previously gone to Heidi where they were in St. Paul. Everyone is nice, and they are great with cut and color. My only issue is how much the prices have gone up. I probably wont be able to afford to continue to go there because of it - the last time I was a long-term client of a stylist, she did not increase my prices as hers went up, because I was a long-term client. more

My facial with Nellie was not only an extremely relaxing experience, but I was given advice and tips for taking care of my skin that is specific for my personal needs. She is very professional and skilled at what she does and has lots of knowledge she is willing to share. It is well worth the time and money to treat yourself to one of her facials! more

In need of a facial or maybe just a revamp on your make-up. Maybe your still doing your 90's eyeliner, and need someone to teach you the new styles....Nellie is one! When my daughter walked out I started crying! She looked so beautiful! Nellie is amazing. She waxed my brows right before my wedding and they looked great. She was the first person who didn't try to make them more thin. I had no irritation or little red bumps like I have had with other people. She also did my makeup on my wedding day and I can't tell you how many people have asked who did my makeup. I loved the way it looked. It was natural yet just the right amount for photos. I would recommend her to anybody! Plus she's very sweet and down to earth! more

I drive all the way from Eagan to Minneapolis to get make-up advice, waxing and facials from Nellie. She is gentle with my sensitive skin and has always provided excellent service! I wouldn't go to anyone else for my beauty needs. more

I'm a plucker. And I'm terrified of overplucking and looking eyebrow-less. This was my first time getting my eyebrows waxed so I braced myself for the worst pain, but I was surprised by how quick and relatively painless the whole process was (thank you Nellie!). Last week, I got one of the best facials of my life from Nellie at Evolution. Prior to then, I'd just gone to her for brow waxing, tinting and eyelash tinting (all of which I *highly* recommend). However, I'm very picky about my skin and it's been dry and very sensitive since winter started this year. Nellie was very patient listening to my concerns and had great suggestions. She has a very good touch about her and my skin never felt pulled or ""handled"" like some other facials I've gotten. I left the salon feeling very relaxed -- money well spent. (I was at two holiday parties over the weekend and was happily suprised by the compliments I got on my skin.) My overall visit was very relaxing. She has a very quiet, private room set off from the main part of the salon -- it feels very much like a high end spa (but without all the uptight snobbery). This is the BEST salon in the Twin Cities. And MEL IS THE BEST STYLIST!!! She consistently gives me FABULOUS color and GREAT cuts. She is extremely intuitive, knowledgeable and talented. I've been a customer of Evolution for the last 3.5 -4 years now. I always look forward to my appointment because everyone that works there is really friendly and have become almost like family over the years.\r Mike is my stylist and he's great, he always has ideas to freshen up my look - either with color, cut or both. Then there is always the joy of getting to hang out with Marco (the man behind the curtain). From an amazing hair cut to a relaxing atmosphere-- Evolutions truly is an evolution in the salon experience. Everyone from receptionist to stylist is a professional. I was very lucky to have stumbled upon Heidi five years ago when I moved to Minneapolis from the east coast. Through my travels, I have gotten styles from top salons from around the world, and Heidi truly is the best-- a hair prodigy. She knows exactly what to do, and is up to date in the latest trends and styles. In addition, she will only do what will make you look better. It has been five years now that I have been going to Heidi, and to this day I have not let anyone else touch my hair. I have been visiting Heidi at Evolution and no one will ever touch my hair again except for her. She cuts, she colors, she highlights, she styles-- and she does it all to perfection. I can say with certainty that I have never once walked out of that salon disappointed with her work or the rest of the salon folks. She has worked with me through various colors and styles (including me once bringing in a pic of Britney Spears. I know, I know . . . ) She is a perfect gauge for helping me decide what I really want as opposed to what I think I want that day and am going to hate myself for in the morning. On many occassions I just sit down and ask her to do whatever she thinks and I have never been regretful. I just received my second (annual) set of hair extensions -- not a full head, just a few fun colored ones. I am in the legal profession and my colleagues wouldn't normally be accepting of pink (last year) or burgundy (now) hair, but I went for it anyway. Heidi placed them so I can easily play them up or hide them for court. She is good, people. Really good. Even if you are someone who thought you would never want extensions, you will change your mind after you try it once. You should check her out. She won't let you look too old or young for your age. This past winter I was going to be traveling for over a month and did not want to have to fuss with my hair. Heidi had the perfect solution. She put extensions in my hair that were undetectable, easy to care for, and had the additional benefit of making me look better than I hoped. I highly recommend having Heidi put in extensions in your hair. more

I have been going to Heidi for many years and she AMAZING! I go to Evolutions to relax and release all my stress! I never have to tell Heidi anything, I just sit down in the chair and let her do her work. I enjoy EVERY minute from my hair getting washed, the environment, Marco(who always brightens my day), Nellie- dying my eye brows, to when I walk out feeling like a MILLION BUCKS! I do not live close so it is a drive for me, But it is worth every minute!!! My hair is in the best condition it has ever been! I have been coming to Evolution for the past 6 months and see MEL. She is amazing when it comes to coloring and cutting! I give her a general idea of what I want when I sit in the chair..and she delivers above and beyond! I never thought my hair would look so beautiful and healthy! I can't stop looking in the mirror at my hair! I gave Sarah free reign with my foil and cut. (whenever I've requested a certain style from any stylist - it has always been awful) I love my color and the cut is fabulous. Best of all the salon is clean and comfortable and Mike and Matt are sweet. It had been a while since I had my hair done and it felt so good to sit in the chair and relax. Sarah must have instinctively understood that, because she gave me a great scalp massage in the shampoo bowl and made me feel very comfortable! I had a glass of wine too! Matt cuts and colors my hair. Besides being pretty damn hot, he has given me the best haircuts I have ever had and I have NEVER been dissapointed in over a year. He has also pushed me to try different things with my hair and I always love it. They know what they are doing at Evolution, many people I know go to him or Mike. Love this salon. I've been searching for a new salon home since I moved to Minneapolis from Los Angeles 3 years ago. Mike understands me, and he'll let me know when the style or color I want won't flatter me - but always suggests a great solution. I'm a natural blonde turned into a faux redhead, and my color doesn't fade to that ugly orange most girls get - it goes from auburn to a beautiful warm red/brown as it fades.
