hospital is very good but accounting department ruins it for everyone that works there, would not use again.

Terrible! Drive the extra miles to another hospital! 9/13/2009

My cousin just recently went to Evergreen with extreme pain in her arm from a fall. They made her wait, didn't bandage her cuts before she left, the xray tech was rude because she was not able to get her shirt off by herself. The nurses were rude, terse, and have no bedsite manner. I am disgusted and will next time drive the extra time to another hospital. Have had nothing but bad experiences with this hospital -- they should be shut down. Pros: None Cons: Rude, long waits, no bedsite, could care less. more

my Mother , a well respected woman of the Eastside community, died a horrible death at the hands of Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland on Dec 31,2006 and I really think this story needs to be told and or Evergreen Hospital needs to be investigated and held responsible. On Dec. 29,2006 my mother was admitted in to Evergreens emergency dept. . She was complaining of leg pain. Tests were done and there was nothing that they could find other than my mother’s health had been declining since her treatments of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. After attempts to make her comfortable with pain meds and Anti Anxiety meds the stenographer left the room and forgot to put the security railing back up on the gurney. My mother sat up and fell out of the bed face and chest first, smashing her face and immediately having a heart attack which resulted in her death. The hospital has taken Zero responsibility and and had changed their story at least 3 times about the railing being left down. Finally they blamed my sister for putting the railing down which was a blatant lie. My sister was in the room only to witness our mother falling out of the bed and hearing the sound of her hitting the floor which has resulted in my sisters PTSD. It is very bad and she will never be the same. When I finally arrived at the hospital from Idaho my mother was on life support, which was against her wishes, and her face and arm were terribly bruised. I feel that the hospital knew that they made a mistake and went against her wishes hoping she would recover. She never did. Now they are lying about this misfortune and trying to sweep it under the carpet. they have put us through the ringer trying to trash our families credibility and dragging it out for almost 3 years now. We are not a wealthy family and we can no longer afford the legal fees to go forward and with the hospitals knowledge of this they decided to not settle and put us through the ringer. Causing us to have to give up on the case. Basically they knew that this would happen and now they can sweep it under the carpet. This is a great injustice and it’s sad that an institution as big as Evergreen Hospital will not just admit that they were negligent and at least apologize .the case has been officially dismissed...we just couldn't afford to go any further. more

I was very pleased with the excellent nursing care in the surgical holding area and recovery area. I would like to especially thank the anesthesiologist (Rodriguez) for listening to my needs and making me feel very safe and comfortable. I would highly recommend Evergreen Hospital for surgery. However, their billing department leaves a lot to be desired! more

Great with healthcare, bad with paperwork by Bill B. at InsiderPages 8/7/2007

I came here for an emergency room visit back in May 2007. The staff was very kind and professional and my treatment was great. Everyone I dealt with related to my ailment was very kind and ready to provide explanations for any questions I had. At one point a woman came to take my insurance information, etc. Apparently, they bill as 2 separate entities, 1 as the Evergreen Hospital and 1 as the Evergreen Emergency Services. This was NOT told to me at the time and caused a lot of confusion later on. Somehow the emergency services ended up with my correct insurance address, but none of my contact information except my name and phone number. They IMMEDIATELY sent my balance to collections. I was very upset with this. Why didn't they call me if they didn't have my address for billing??? The Evergreen Hospital entity somehow had the wrong insurance address (but did have my contact information). I am still trying to resolve the issue with their billing - they claim insurance has rejected the claim, but in fact I have verified with my insurance twice that the claim was never received. :( I'm stumped as to how both the hospital and emergency services ended up with only small portions of the correct information. Either their intake process if severely broken or someone was asleep at the wheel on both ends. more

We had our first child birth at Evergreen during the massive wind storm and power outages of December-2006. We received quality care while the entire hospital was on backup generators for two days. Their maternity store has a great selection, though it is a bit overpriced. The cafeteria is decent and I only ventured out for food once in three days. We also had a great experience at newborn care classes before the birth. I recommend them for your delivery with a few reservations. They are provided so you don't fall into the same traps we did. Be aware of the level of service from the night nurses- we had one that treated our child roughly and seemed incompetent. We requested a different nurse and never saw her again. Also, the hospital admits a lot of vultures who take advantage of the fears of new parents. There is fetal cord blood banking - an unproven technology. There is also a hearing test on your newborn, which is considered experimental and most insurances will NOT cover. They make you sign a release form making you liable if insurance denies it. At least three researchers visited us requesting everything from cord blood to year-long participation in surveys. When you're taking care of your newborn, these visits are the last thing you need. Don't let these reservations turn you away from this excellent hospital. These are common pitfalls at other hospitals as well. As long as you say no when appropriate, you will not be disappointed. more

very Good by Jenny Z. at InsiderPages 11/6/2005

I arrived at 7am so I was the first patient for an examination scheduled two weeks ago. The experience is very pleasant and I didn't spend time waiting for doctors as I used to at other hospitals. A week ago a nurse called me to explain the result of the examination to me. They also communicated with my doctor before calling me and let me know what the doctor thought. more

Special Care Nursery by Brian F. at InsiderPages 7/26/2005

We've had three children born early and have all spent time in the special care nursery. This nursery is first class and the staff is excellent. I would recommend it over the other eastside alternatives. more

a great help by Hanne P. at InsiderPages 3/29/2005

I've been to Evergreen hosp. a few times, and have generally had plesent experiences (for it being a hosp.). The only thing is that the people doing the paper work seem to always be in training and not sure of what their doing. If your getting blood drawn and you have issues with needles, let them know ahead of time so they can find on of the better blood drawers... otherwise you might be stuck a few times with a needle PROS: friendly, clean... CONS: need some people who can can hit the veins first try more

You can trust Evergreen when having a baby! by Addie G. at InsiderPages 3/27/2005

If you have your baby at Evergreen Hospital, you won't be disappointed. I'm so happy I chose this hospital to bring my little girl into the world. The staff are professional and caring, and the amenities are first-class. This was my first stay in a hospital as well as my first birth and it's where I want to go again in the future for my healthcare needs. I was especially impressed with the lactation consultants and baby care teachers. On the maternity ward they hold baby care classes twice a day every day (even on the weekends). This is in addition to consualtants who visit your room and help solidify breastfeeding if that's what you choose. The food was decent, and the pediatricians on staff were wonderful. I knew they had my baby's health and my health as their top priority. You will love Evergreen Hospital if you deliver your baby there. more
