Avoid: Part of National Locksmith SCAM 3/22/2012

Beware! Locking yourself out of your car or home is frustrating enough. But imagine calling a locksmith then being charged double – or even more – the quoted fee. The Attorney General’s Office receives complaints every per month about so-called “local” locksmiths pulling a bait-and-switch. In many cases, these “locksmiths” arrive in unmarked vehicles, damage doors in their feeble attempts to pick locks and still demand more money. • If you’re locked out of your car and have a roadside assistance service, call them first. • Ask for referrals from your Judy’s Book or Facebook Friends. • Use a locksmith with a shop. A physical location or shop ensures that you have a way to contact the business in case of a problem, but of course you’ll need to confirm the address. • Dial a local number and listen to how the person answers the phone. If a company answers the phone with a generic phrase like "locksmith," rather than a company-specific name, be wary. Ask for the legal name of the business. If the person refuses, call another locksmith. • Get an estimate for all work and replacement parts from the locksmith before work begins. In cases of a lock-out, most legitimate locksmiths will give you an estimate on the phone for the total cost of the work. After the work is completed, demand an invoice. • Ask for ID, including a business card. Expect the locksmith to ask you for identification, as well. A legitimate locksmith should confirm your identity and make sure you’re the property owner before doing any work. Some legitimate locksmiths will work out of a car for quick or emergency jobs, but most will arrive in a service vehicle that is clearly marked with the name of the business. • Remember, this person has the keys to your car or home. So if you’re not comfortable with the service provider, refuse service. more

The Silvertips are Great! 9/12/2006

For those of you who are true hockey fans and know what the game is all about, this is for you. The Everett Events Center is very fan-friendly, the price cant be beat, and the Tips are a great hockey team. Gav R. must not know the game of hockey, because this truly is a high class team who cares about the game and the town they live in during hockey season. Besides that, they spend their days in high school- that's right, they are high school kids and a little older. Gav should try a different sport- hockey must not be for them (or soccer or boxing or wrestling or rugby, lacrosse, etc.) Anyways, GO TIPS!!! more

Unless you're a hockey nut, once is enough. 9/16/2005

An Everett Silvertips game is not appropriate for your kids if you don't want your kids seeing violence and 20 players and 1000 fans with poor sportsmanship. A gentleman's sport this is not, and though I'll try anything once, to see people cheer harder when the blood comes is very...sad. There is not a moment's silence when there are not audio and video ads blaring at you...it is constant. more

Best Hockey in the Seattle Area! 8/17/2005

The Everett Silvertips compete in the Western Hockey League, a premier developmental league, which generated about 20% of current NHL rosters. The Tips play in the Everett Event Center, a fairly new civic arena in downtown Everett. Unlike Key Arena, the Everett Event Center is built to house hockey, so half the arena isn't covered by a curtain or designated empty during games. Silvertips hockey is definitely a great family event and the team is pretty darn good as well. Last year, the Silvertips went deep into the playoffs and are expected to do as well in the coming years. Downtown Everett has undergone some significant economic redevelopment in recent years, so there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to grab a good meal or a drink before the game. Tickets are dirt cheap, with the best seats in the house around $30 and cheap seats around $10. Don't forget to sign up for the charity puck toss when you go! For $5 you get three neon orange foam pucks to throw at on ice targets from the stands during intermission. more
