Great Experience 2/6/2011

I had some ideas of what I had in my mind for my wedding gown, so after I found a few stores that carried the designers I liked, I did my research to narrow down the number of places I would go to. Eva's Bridal had the best rating from the Better Business Bureau and had won the most awards from them, so I made sure that they were one of my stops. I ended up saving it for last, but I was glad I did. Edyta was my consultant and she didn't waste anytime pulling out the exact dresses I was looking for. She showed me some styles from a different designer, and I ended up picking one of those instead. I was so happy with my dress, I felt like a kid on Christmas and I couldn't wait for my own dress to come in. My dress came in a month earlier and it looked even better than I remembered. I also got my bridesmaid dresses there and once again, my girls were very impressed with Edyta's service. Definitely a great shop, would (and have) recommended them to all of my friends. more

Had Perfect Experience!! 1/11/2011

I did some research online first and made an appointment because Eva's carried the specific line I was looking for. When I arrived I handed Judy the numbers for the dresses I wanted to try on and while tshe pulled those dresses she directed me to the floor to see if there was anything else I wanted to look at as well. I didn't mind her giving me some time to browse on my own. (I hate it at other stores when the salespeople follow me around stepping on my heels -- it's like go away! i'll let you know when I need you."") I ended up with about 10 dresses in the fitting room and as I tried on dresses Judy was very helpful and suggested others based on my responses to the ones I had on but she didn't smother me. I ended up trying on more than 20 dresses and had a blast. The last one I tried on was one of the ones I had asked for when I came in and let's just say I know what I like. Judy was extremely patient with me when I went from saying this was the dress to backtracking once I called my mother and sister across the country and she explained my options and gave me some time while I convinced them that I was not making a rash purchase. (Why I was shopping on my own is a whole other story.) When I was ready Judy came back and took my order and gave me a discount on the dress which was already a really good price. The seamstress took my measurements and the manager of the store came over to make sure I was happy. I felt very well taken care of. They kept in touch with me over the months until my dress arrived, tailored it with old world expertise -- guests at my wedding said the dress looked like it was made for me -- gave me advice on the accessories I was considering for the whole look, and shipped the dress to the state where I was getting married for free. What more could you ask for? more

THE WORST! 7/1/2010

RUN don't walk away from this place. The dresses are all crammed into small hanging spaces along the walls. It looks as though they have kept every bad 80's prom, wedding, and homecoming dress and are trying to sell them as new and trying to sell them at the highest prices I have seen.\r \r The worst part about this place has to be the people working there. They are rude, inconsiderate, and not helpful at all. I actually heard them yelling at a bride when she got her wedding dress and it was the wrong one. I was in the dressing rooms and could not believe what I heard. They blamed the bride for the wrong order. Everyone knows that the consultants write the reports, not the bride!\r \r Again, RUNNNN do not walk away from this place. Eva’s has a horrible location, horrible dresses, and most of all a horrible sales staff which is the most important thing! Cons: Dirty dresing rooms, rude sales team, and high prices more

I'm not sure why there are such bad reviews here! 6/18/2009

I'm not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews of Eva's Bridal on here, but I hope that I don't have to find out! I went here this past weekend with my mom. I was having trouble finding the wedding dress that I wanted (at least in my price range anyway), after frequently some of the better stores in Chicago, decided to try coming out to a few of the stores in this area. We ran late from our previous appointment, but they let us move our appointment back, which was nice of them. The store is not fancy but I wouldn't say that the conditions were anything to notably complain about either. My consultant, Dalia, was amazing! She was so nice, she was really a treat to work with. I tried on a few dresses, some of which were eh, and a couple that I really liked, until I found ""the one"". She did not have any problem telling us the designer of each dress, so I'm not sure what the ""no info"" reviews were about (I know they wouldn't tell us designers at Kasia's, but they were also nice there too). But I was still torn between that one, and another one I had seen at Macys, and we were going back to Macys the next day. On the drive home, I kept thinking about the dress. I called Dalia and said would it be okay if we come back in on Monday to see it again? She said that she had been thinking about me (so cute, lol!), and that normally she is not working that day, but she would come in just for me! I have to say that I was impressed. After trying on the other dress at Macys on Sunday (and having a less than great experience w/ some accessory trunk show people practically attacking me!!), we went back to Evas on Monday. As soon as Dalia started lacing up the dress on me, I knew it was the one! I was so excited! My mom and I decided that we would order the dress from there. Once we said that, she said we could take pictures (to send to my friends, dad, etc), she helped set me up in all these different positions and angles, it was really cute. They say it takes up to 6 months to come in, which is fine b/c my wedding is in 1 year. Alterations were a MAX of $300 (whereas I was quoted $500-750 at Macys - pretty much just for a bustle, nothing else!) So far, my experience w/ Eva's has been good. I just hope that I don't end up having to edit this review later, after hearing so many bad things on here! Pros: great salesperson, good selection Cons: kind of far from me more

Eva's of Chicago is great if.... 5/14/2009

I did not purchase my gown there but a lot of my friends did...and were very happy. Eva's of Chicago is great if they can screen their brides and only service the ones that can read or have half an ounce of common sense. Everything in their policies that some of you resent is all posted and explained clearly to every bride...and, really, they are not the only bridal salon that won't give you the designer's name or a free zipper bag. Davids charges $15.00 for each bag. Other stores charge up to $30.00. Trust me, I've been there. I realize it is the consumer's market today, but enough is enough. Just because you're buying your gown at a bridal salon, they really don't have to give shares in the business. How else do you expect a store, any store, to stay in business, if they give you a great price, free pressing, free garment bags, free etc., etc., etc.,.E N O U G H! Look at their rating with the Better Business. They have the best rating in the entire state. They are obviously making a lot of brides very, very happy. Pros: Great pricing more

This place stinks! Plain and simple. 11/18/2008

As I understand there are rules to be followed as in any other store, I do feel that there is a form of service that should be rendered if you're going to have a sh*t ton of rules to follow. The rules are not any different than any other store I've gone to - no pictures, no info, no deposit, no dress. Got it. I work in an electronics shop and understand why. If you can't make up your mind and you don't have favorites, then this is not the store for you, but if you do, just buy it. Ok, so I went in here and I found a dress that was a possibility and wanted my mom to come in and see it, holy cow....all hell broke loose! I was asked to leave the fitting room because it wasn't a waiting room, ok whatever. My mom lives in Morton Grove and was running late. As I was about to put money down even though my mom wasn't there and didn't see this dress I was about to buy, the sales girl tell me that the dress I'm about to buy is mistagged and that it's actually $2000 more than the tagged price! It was tagged at $900. I thought I miheard her! After the hell I went through and giving the store the complete benefit of the doubt, this is how they play me! I left without a dress. I was lucky though, a bride that was leaving the store disgusted as well gave me the number to another boutique in Chicago on Irving Park she had an appointment with, that was about 15 minutes away. I called and asked if they had an appointment and they did, so I called my mom to take a detour and meet me at that store instead. All in all, after making an appointment with Eva's, putting up with the cr*p they put me through, wasting an hour and a half of my time, and walking out with a bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience, I'm glad I didn't leave a penny of my money behind. Don't waste your time at this dump. There are other stores in Chicago that work for the money they make, Eva's won't lift a finger to help but will try to charge you as if they did. Terrible. Pros: Nothing Cons: How this store is still in business baffles me more

Worst Customer Service 10/30/2008

I went there shopping with my friend who is getting married. The first thing that I found suspicious is that she had called requesting a certain designer, and they said they carried it. When she called to confirm the appointment and to give specific style numbers, they told her that they only carried certain items, not the entire line.\r \r We got there early, and no one was there. The shop pretty much looked closed. When we finally were able to go in, they lazily told us to look around. There was no organization to the store except by color, and not by designer. The woman helping us told us that the style number ended with a certain 2 digit code, and that is how we would look for the dresses of that designer. \r \r Once we got into the dressing room, we were appalled. The mirrors were covered in dust and looked like no one had cleaned the dressing room in months. Considering all of us (the bride, myself and another bridesmaid) have retail experience, the quality of the dressing room was well below our standards. The woman helping us only came to check on us once, after being in the dressing room for at least 20 minutes! It was a weekday morning, and there were no other customers in the shop. \r \r We finally left after trying on different dresses. Do not ever go to this place! Cons: Bad Customer Service, Dirty Store more

Brides beware: Eva's store policies are for the criminal they think you are ... 9/28/2008

I'll start by saying that most of my wedding planning has been through email correspondence, either to my parents or my bridesmaids, all of whom are out of state. So far email has worked fine, but I didn't anticipate the problems I would encounter with regards to dress shopping. I've managed to overcome most of these issues ... until I visited Eva's. My problem began (unbeknownst to me) when I walked through the door, where I was stripped of any sort of human decency and clothed in the cloaks of treachery instead. This business is so blinded by a fear of losing business to other stores or the internet, that they can't even see that they lose more business by the policies they've put in place to prevent such crimes. Rule #1 - NO PICTURE TAKING. Ok, that's fine. I've been told that in other stores and although it's a little inconvenient to go back to each store to re-try on the dresses, as long as I can find it on the designer's website to show my out-of-town bridesmaids, I'm fine. But wait - there's Rule #2 - YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THE DRESS UNTIL A PURCHASE IS MADE. What? I'm not entirely sure, but I think ripping the designer's labels off of a dress and then trying to sell it as your own exclusive design is more of a crime than anything I could possibly do with that information. Rule #3 - YOU MUST PUT 70% DOWN TO ORDER A DRESS. So I practically have to buy the dress before they'll give me any information on it or let me take a picture. RIDICULOUS! And when I told this to the manager (in tears) her reply to me was, ""We believe in the old tradition that a bride's dress is kept secret between her and her mother."" Well I don't know when that tradition started, but I bet it was back in the day when a handshake used to seal the deal, not a signature on a dotted line contractually binding you to 70% of an item you know nothing about. So here's a little business analysis for you Eva's: 70% of zero is zero, which is exactly what you're getting from me. Pros: Delia, my consultant, was very nice - it's a shame she has to work in such a lowly place Cons: No pictures, Labels ripped off dresses, Dirty store, Rude manager who cannot empathize with the stress of being a bride more
