I stopped into the Estill County Public Library on Main Street not long ago and was surprised to see how much the facility has modernized in the past several years. Still small, this library may not have all that you are looking for, but what it lacks in books it makes up for with an educated and interested staff.
You never forget that you're in a small town when you're in this library. The librarians go out of their way to make sure that they help you, and Irvine is so dedicated to making sure all of its citizens enjoy books that it runs a Bookmobile, travelling to the neighborhoods to bring books to those who cannot visit the library.
Being a smaller library, I was more comfortable allowing my children to roam there as there was not anything on display that I was worried they would break or disturb, and the building is small enough for me to be able to see them wherever they are.
