Esther's Follies

I've been forced to go to shows at Esther's Follies more times than I care to remember - for work parties, bacherlorette parties, etc. I understand it's supposed to be cheesy, but sometimes this seems like comedy to the lowest common denominator. I know I sound like a snotty grouch - but I just don't find Esther's Follies funny AT ALL. I might take my aunt there if she came to visit from her town of 550 in Pennsylvania. Other than that, I hope I never have to go back. Sorry. more

Hilarity abounds at Esther's Follies. We went for a birthday with a large group, and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely, especially when one of us became a volunteer for a sketch! The window that's open at the back makes for some awesome improv. Its admission is high though, and it's best not to go too often or you'll see the same skits. But it's well worth it to go at least once--and don't be afraid to raise your hand when they ask for it! more

Esther's follies has been around forever. They put on great shows all the time and are fairly priced. Great place to take out of town guests. You can always find a list of their shows in the Xlent copy in the thursdays Austin American Statesman or log on to austin360.com. You are guaranteed to walk out of their remembering Austin and having a good time. more

After walking by Esthers Follies for years and seeing everyone laughing really hard through the windows, we finally decided to go ourselves. It was such a fun time and the only regret we have is that we didn't go sooner. This is a great place to take those guests you can't figure out what to do to entertain them. Everyone will have a blast and it will be an evening that you will always remember! more

Esther's Follies began as a by-product of a pool parlor, called Esther's Pool, on East Sixth Street April Fool's Day, 1977. Conceived as a combination topical vaudeville/satirical musical comedy revue, Esther's Follies has now grown to become the state's premier comedy complex. Watching their show will make you laugh all the time, it is a good way to relax yourself and make you happy. more

One of the most popular comedy clubs in Austin, if not the most popular, is located on the liveliest street in Austin, 6th. They are great for couples or a bigger groups. Esther’s Follies is not for those on a budget, look to spend at least $25/person; however, the price is well worth it for the laughs you’ll get out of it. What’s great is that they have a window open to the public where the comedians usually point out people as the pass by or look in unsuspecting of the comic making fun of him to the audience. The place is a riot and like I said, perfectly located in the heart of Austin. Grab a great dinner and drinks, then head to Esther Follies to laugh your pants off. Be sure to make reservations as this place sells out quick! Parking is hard to find unless you pay or find a meter. more

My husband and I caught a show at Esther's Follies for our anniversary. We were not disappointed! We laughed so hard and had a great time. We really like how they pulled in current events for their comedy skits. They have this huge picture window at the back of the stage, so you can see people pass by or stare inside. They made so many wisecracks about those people. I highly recommend Esther's Follies and plan on taking visitors here. more

Esther's Follies is the perfect escape on a Thursday night. Yes, the tickets can be difficult to get ahold of, but you are in for the time of your life. The live sketch comedy adheres to the issues of our time with a true Austin touch. Some of the biggest laughs come from the comments about the people walking outside of the venue. I'll never walk by the same again! If you haven't been to Esther's Follies yet, you are missing out. You won't walk away without sore cheeks from laughing so hard. more
