I like the way she talks to you about whats right for your hair. She just don't do my hair and take my money and sent me on my way, she lets me know how I can have and keep healty hair. I've been a client of the proprieter, Teresa (Terez) Zigler for more than 20 years. She has always been the very best in the far north suburbs...and I've tried many others. First of all, you can recognize a "Terez" hair style. She is the very best at short cuts and all types of color. I've worn my hair very short to shoulder length and she "works with me" no matter what my preference at any point in time. I need cut, color and special handling of a sensitive scalp. I have very thick, course hair but every relaxer I have tried burned my scalp. Terez has one that gets me straight but does not burn. My hair is always healthy and strong. I am 25 years old and have been frequenting Essence VIP for hair services since I was 15 years old. This salon not only provides great hair styles, but it also promotes healthy hair which is very important for any woman no matter what ethnicity. My stylist at this salon is Amanda who definitely maintains the same, consistent attitude as Terez (owner)....one being that "beautiful hair and great styles, don't have to mean unhealthy hair!" I've been coming to Terez for about two years, and I could not ask for more. Regardless of the role of those working in this salon, everyone is a professional, while at the same time providing a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I have not been disappointed in any of the services I've received, but on the contrary, I've often been very surprised. I've had my hair cut and color treated, and the responses from those who see me, leads me to believe that it will be some time before I go back to my natural color. I found this salon from the yellow pages. I showed up as a walk-in expecting to spend my day off at the Salon. I was treated as if I had an appointment and NO, I was not the only one there. The staff worked like professionals. Teresa immediately got her asssistant started on me and I was worked on from the time I walked in the door until I left. I was so impressed with the service and the outcome of my hair. I received so much attention from my hair. Coolest hair salon, very pleasant and good service.Terez is delightful and pleasant to talk to and highly professional .She is incredibly skilled at her craft, girlfriend knows her stuff. I went in for a hair cut, wasnt really sure how i wanted it cut .She suggested a new cut something new . So i said go for it. I trust her completely when I sit in the chair. When she completed my look I felt fabulous and satisfied. Went to work the next day I got so much compliment and attention from my hair. I've been a loyal customer of Terez and Essence VIP for over 3 years. My hair has never looked better with a great haircut plus it's soft and shiny. My schedule gets a little crazy sometimes and Terez goes out of her way to accomodate me with a minimum waiting time at the salon. All I can say is, Try it - You'll like it. I recently found Essence VIP online. I emailed Terez explaining the hairloss I endured due to wearing hair extensions for 14 years and the hardship of having ezcema. Terez emailed me back immediately explaining in detail the products she provides that would help me with my damaged hair and scalp sensitivity. I was fortunate enough to get an appointment the following week and was delighted. I couldn't believe the healthy state she returned my damanged hair to. My husband and kids were quite surprised. I found Terez and the staff at Essence VIP to be very caring and professional. I was impressed when she noted the products she used on my hair and kept a record of the styling she did for me. A couple of years ago, I moved from New York City to the Chicago metropolitan area; however, I was wearing an afro and did not have need of a stylist. The online reviews for Eseence VIP and Terez were all really good and I decided to make an appointment. It was one of the best decisions that I could have made. Terez and her staff are very professional and timely. I arrived shortly before my appointment and was helped as soon as I walked in the door. Since I was transitioning from an afro back into a perm, I was unsure as to what type of hair cut I really wanted. Terez made that decision and started cutting. As she cut, you could see my hair start to take shape. She gave me a style that is low maintenance, versatile and looks very professional. Terez explained the condition of my hair and then gave me instructions on upkeep, including hair care tips for working out, and she recommended products for home use. Essence is a beautiful salon with a calm atmosphere and a clean environment. I did not have to spend my entire day in the salon and my style had plenty of shine and the cut was absolutely beautiful. Ever after leaving the salon, I was able to maintain my style with ease and my hair has kept its shine. I recommend Essence and Terez if you are looking for a hair salon where you do not have to spend the entire day in the salon, professional and clean. Essence VIP is the best ethnic hair care salon in Lake County! The owner/stylist Terez, is highly skilled in various hair care and style techniques. She takes time to listen to what the client wants done to their hair. She also evaluates the condition of your hair, and gives her professional recommendations for the best treatment for your particular hair type. Since I've been going to her I have been getting many compliments on how great my hair looks. Terez believes in making each client look their very best! Since moving to the North Suburbs 7 years ago, I have had a hard time finding a good hair salon. I started going to Essence VIP in the summer of 2007. I was recovering from surgery and my hair was in terrible condition. When I walked into the salon, Terez diagnosed the problems, applied the right conditioners and I walked out with my hair looking better than it had in years. I've been going to her ever since. The shop on Milwaukee Ave. in Gurnee is a beautiful and serene. You never have to wait for service, the staff is friendly and professional. I'm glad I finally found Essence VIP. I have been going to Terez/Essence ever since I was in high school. She has always provided great haircare and my hair is very healthy. It was only that I went to a salon with cheaper prices did I realize how you get what you pay for. My hair got damaged by two other beauticians, but Terez always knew how to repair my hair. I always get compliments on my hair wherever I go. She is great and so is Sam! I hope she never retires or I don't know what I will do for haircare. I started going to Essence VIP in June of 2007. I can't believe how wonderful my looks. Every place I go, people are constantly asking me "who does your hair?". Terez is very professional. She not only cares about your hair, she also cares about your health. She believes that your hair can only look good if you take of yourself from the inside out. I really appreciate how she listens to what I want to do with my hair and then advises me on whether or not it will be good for my hair. Samantha is also very helpful with suggestions on color. Terez is a very professional person. I been with her for a long time. I wouldn't trade her for the world. If there is something wrong with your hair she will take the time out and explain it to you, she will give you papers to read about hair treatments. she will get you end and out with little of time, very fast in whatever she do.
