Horrible Customer Service! Buyer beware!\r After losing everything in a fire, we purchased several expensive furniture pieces. Friendly sales associate took our orders. Part of our order, 3 barstools was on back order. When they finally arrived they were not the correct height for our counter and could not be used. We had similar barstools prior to the fire from the same manufacturer which fit perfectly. Store refused to take them back. Rather than saying return them, get new ones and we'll adjust, we were rudely told - tough! Sent them back and we are presently out $600. Buyer beware avoid this store. more

Lack of Customer service 6/28/2011

We odered carpet and had set date for installation , 3 days before they call to advise they cannot do it on the day planned. After lots of disussion we agree on a date one week later to install the carpet. 3 days before that install date get a phone call- We do not have good news"" the carpert (which was supposely ordered for the first install date) never came in and now on back order will be a month before they can get. When I asked why last week when we had install date issuse why was I not told -- answer"" I do not know"". Then I was asked well what do you want to do? I asked what options I had and was told nott any unless I pick out something else and it will still take 2 weeks . So I said cancel order and got "" Ok"" Based on this experience and they lack of concern by the people I talked with I would not recommend ordering anything through this store. more

Look everywhere but here for the furniture you desire. terrible service, rude employees, absent ownership. My custom furniture order was behind schedule at the factory which typical and understandable. The problem: No one from the store called to update me on its progress when weeks and weeks went by after it's expected 8 week delivery time had passed. Once the furniture was delivered, it was damaged. I spent another two to three months constantly calling the store to try to get a replacement, getting excuse after excuse on why my broken furniture had not been delivered. Laying blame on the furniture manufacturer only goes so far when the stream of communication is prompted by me, not by them. Don't get furniture here unless you want to be committed to wasting your time ensuring they do their job. more

Good Value for the $$ 4/11/2011

I had several pieces of furniture delivered last month from Espirit Decor. I had a sectional sofa delivered to my permanent home in Suffolk and 2 bedrooms and mattress sets to my beach cottage in Southern Shores. Before I purchased I tried to negotiate price with them but they wouldn't budge. Instead of purchasing I went home and shopped on line to check their prices. The pricing I received from Melissa (my salesperson) were cheaper than anything I found online. I went ahead and made the purchase in early February. They told be 6-8 weeks for the furniture to arrive and it took just about that. I set up the deliveries (there is a charge for delivery) for both houses. The delivery to my permanent home went without a hitch. There was damage with a night stand on my cottage delivery but they just replaced it last week. So, overall, I'm a fairly satisfied customer and will go back. \r There was one thing I thought they could've done for me but they didn't. Since they deliver more

TERRIBLE SERVICE 3/29/2011

I went to this store on 3 occasions. Not one time was I helped in anyway or did anyone approach me. One of the visits they were really busy. I was the only one standing for 15 minutes waiting..and not one person told me help is on the way. The sales guy (old man) saw me, but didn't not bother to ask if I needed help or tended to me first as he went past by me and went to another customer as they shouted for help. The saleslady Melinda knew I was waiting for the longest time and immediately went to the 2nd customer after me before asking who was waiting first. She definitely knew I was standing there b/c she was walking back and forth the counter. The 3rd lady who I believe was the owner or another sales lady looked dead at me at the eyes and didn't even bother to say one word. After being seen, I was handed my receipt and didn't even get a thank you. The workers here are snotty. They don't make commission so they don't care if you don't get help or not. top notch store 2/1/2011

I recently purchase 3 rooms of furniture from this wonderful store. You will not find any better quality or selection of furniture in the Tidewater area. They also have a Library of books to choose from. The staff (Janice) and the owner Beth are kind, professional and so knowledgeable! 30 years of experience. I read the other reviews and cant believe what they wrote! This place is fabulous! I went to 10 area stores and this place is the ONLY PLACE TO SHOP! They will bend over backwards for you.....ps good things are worth waiting for! give them a break!!! more

Just plain mean 12/26/2010

Made the mistake of buying a couch and loveseat from this place. We had bought several furniture items there before. Had to order the furniture - no room for negotiation on price or delivery charges. Told that furniture would be delivered in eight weeks. At the seven week point we started calling...very rude service, even spoke to the manager/owner of the store. No furniture at the eight week point. After nine weeks, got a phone call it could be delivered on a Friday. After checking our schedule, called them back an hour later. We were told we "missed our window" and now could not get it for three more days. Again, no break on charges of any kind. I was disappointed at how they treated a repeat customer buying over 2K worth of furniture. Never again with this place! more

Don't meet Mark 10/7/2010

Hmmmm. Where to begin. I recently went to esprit decor after taking a half day off of work (the only I way I could make it since they close at 5), to find myslef standing in front of exactly what I wanted. The only problem was there was no price posted. So I waited.... And waited.... And waited ... A man sitting in the corner was on the phone so I waited some more. Evently I walked up front to talk to an associate (not on the phone) I was told they were under staff, They usually have 5 people on the floor. So a woman walked up to mark ( busy talking to a friend) and asked if he could help. Standing 30 ft from away mark states "I am really busy with this customer and half to help someone else". In which case I state "if none wants to help me, then I will take my $1200 purchase somewhere else" mark replies "we don't want you business here anyways". I have never met such a group of rude incompetent people before in my life. Please dont waste your gas money, or the drive to meet mark. more

I recently purchased a bedroom set from Esprit Decor. I found the staff to be very helpful. They took very good care of us, without making us feel as if someone is breathing over our shoulder the entire time. They have a great selection of furniture in the store as well as Pros: Great Staff, Great Selection, Great Value! Cons: Some may find the location a con, but it is very worth the drive! more
