Disappointd 11/2/2018

My six year old nephew loves gymnastics but the owner, Sandy, of Emerald City Gymnastics does not value, uplift or respect black children. So after 1 short month we pulled him out of the program. He felt like he was being singled out for behaviors that were also evident in other children during the sessions. I approached the coach who clearly had some implicit bias against my nephew and then later went to the coach. After interacting with the owner and sharing my concerns with her, she said referring to my nephew “He has a problem” and began to argue with me. She never once acknowledged my nephew, me or our concerns. My nephew said referring to the owner “she’s treating me differently because I’m black.” I highly dissuade anyone from sending their loved one(especially black children) to Emerald City Gymnastics. Their sense of worth and beauty will be diminished. more

We love ECGA 7/6/2013

We have been at this gym for over four years. I have had over 25 years experience with gymnastics facilities as a gymnast, a coach and now a mom of a gymnast. I have been 100% impressed with the coaching staff, the owners and more importantly the program that has been built at this gym. The staff and owners treat the gymnasts like family and hold the priorities of respect and teamwork at the forefront for these kids. I am so grateful that we discovered ECGA and I am proud to be part of their family. If you want your gymnast to learn the skills of life in a healthy way, join ECGA. They are the best. more

5 star gymnastics academy 6/27/2013

The owners are very professional, friendly and caring. I don't mind the long drive but I know my daughter will be in great hands. Totally recommend it. We are treated like a family! Bennett D. more

Emerald City Gymnastics Academy 6/23/2013

Emerald City Gymnastic Academy is an excellent, safe, organized and caring program. My daughter is a team gymnast here and absolutely loves it! We purposely came from another academy because of this program: the high level and commitment of the coaching staff & the owners, as well as the integrity of the organization and communication. My daughter is loved and supported in this program not only as an athlete but as an individual and teammate from all coaches, the owners, all teammates and their families. In addition, this care is also extended to me, the parent, as well. We feel lucky and fortunate to be part of ECGA and HIGHLY recommend it! more

Love ECGA! 6/23/2013

This is my daughter's 4th year at ECGA. I appreciate the fact that I can trust her coaches to support and encourage her, help her stretch herself and grow in skills and confidence. I feel she is safe and that her team and coaches love and respect her. Our gym owner, Sandy, is tireless in her efforts to plan our meets and trips and to make sure our kids think of others by participating in charity events. Thanks, ECGA! more

Jekyll and Hyde run this place 6/12/2013

Of the two sisters who own this place, one is friendly, professional, well-adjusted and helpful. The other sister is the absolute polar opposite; rude, aggressive, unprofessional and verbally belittling. Like some of the other reviewers, we found ECGA was okay when our kids were much younger and just getting started. But as they've progressed and been approached about competing, the high pressure attitude from the nasty owner was ratcheted up to an egregious and abusive level. When we insisted on a detailed accounting of the demanded charges and onerous contract, we were asked to leave. The blatant disrespect was completely inappropriate when coming from someone providing a service for a fee. Certainly not if this person expects to stay in business or to have successful personal relationships. This woman will eventually fail on her current trajectory and in the process she's bound to leave a wide path of emotionally manipulated children. One must ask themselves if they're willing to allow their child to be exposed to such an abusive and toxic personality. With that said, the hired coaching and administrative staff are generally great. There are some great coaches there but the one owner is all over the emotional spectrum and it becomes a very bad influence on the kids. We too have seen the high turn-over during our time there, unfortunately. If the nasty owner would step away from the place, it would be great, but so long as she remains we can't in good faith recommend this place to anyone. And as we've looked around the area for a different place for our kids to attend, we've come to realize just how awful this woman really is. We're frustrated that we were suckered into having our kids continue to be exposed to this awful business owner and we're glad to leave. We should have done so years ago. As parents who care deeply about the well-being of our children, we sincerely hope that other kids don't experience the emotionally insensitive clod that runs ECGA. Buyers beware. more

Stay Away!! 6/10/2012

This is the most poorly run sports program I have ever been apart of. The person who said the owners as like a high school click and are only concerned about filling their pockets hit the nail right on the head. The lies rampant and the kids are manipulated beyond belief. The coach turnover is incredible and if you are here for any length of time, you will see why. Stay very clear of this team program - your kids with be the ones on the altar!! more

BEST GYM IN THE AREA!!!! 3/31/2012

We have tried a few gyms on the Eastside and are definitely happiest here! The coaches are great- attentive focus on the kids/positive coaching with an emphasis in correct skills, the owners are great, and everyone at the front desk is helpful and wonderful to work with. We wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Best gym around here on the Eastside!!! more

dont do it 9/18/2011

i went to ecga a very long time. the facility was great and the teammates were nice... before they all left. i went through 17 coaches in only a few years. the team was a family and due to drama form the owner(s) we got split apart. I would get bribed to do things which is not the way to accomplish skills. the owner(s) is a control freak and me and my family felt very disrespected. Many dramatic things happened there that i cant describe. there are so many gyms out there! eastside gymnastics leading edge auburn northwest aerials gym east! the list goes on and on! I there are so many great gyms and i go to one of them! more

My experience with EGA has reveled a very poorly managed competitve program and i would not recomend it for your child more

Amazing Program 9/24/2009

We have been going to this gym for a while and have seen a HUGE improvement in their preschool program since their move to their new location. Before the summer the classes seemed to be very repetitive and where some staff seemed to be involved, others were very unengaged. Since we have been back there has been many changes and they are amazing! My daughter can't wait to come to gymnastics every week! They have even added a section for children to work on activities involving motor development. Very Cool! A must for your child! more

Depends on what you're looking for 8/29/2009

Good: (For preschool ages:)Great for siblings- concurrent classes for more than one age group. My kids enjoyed it and always looked forward to going. Reasonable prices. Very helpful and personable office staff. Great gym equipment.. Bad: Some staff were great, some were not very engaged with the kids, some seemed to play favorites. There was a lot of staff turnover. For the youngest, I'm not sure there is much benefit given the cost. You can teach most of the skills yourself. Go to a bouncy house or indoor play space, much cheaper. I found the Parent/Child class got boring after a few weeks- very repetitive.. Improvements: They need to keep quality staff who show a real interest in the kids and engage with them.. more

great place for any parent to send their children 10/21/2008

Emerald City Gymnastics is Fantastic! 10/11/2008

My experience is with the younger age group classes, and have found it not only to be excellent as a basic gymnastics training but also teaches discipline, respect and boosts confidence. The kids all have great fun and Coach Patrick keeps us all laughing! more

Eastside Gymnastics & Dance/Good for Little Ones 2/7/2006

My daughters took classes here off and on over a ten year span and we even had a couple of b-day parties there. Generally a good experience especially for kids in the the youngest age groups. more

Ideal for parents w/ more than one child 12/2/2005

I chose Emerald City Gymnastics because their facility is large enough to hold more than one class at the same time so that both my 3 and 4 year olds who are in different levels could have class at the same time. I definitely did not want to spend 2 hours waiting for each of them. We've been going for about a year, and we've been pleased w/ the instruction and teacher to child ratio. more
