Great Diner - Especially during Tuna Week! 4/5/2006

Elmo's is a great place. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh, and the atmosphere has that authentic diner feel. They have a full diner menu, with some creative additions - including a great taco salad and the Greek grilled cheese on pita bread. They alternative weeks between chicken salad and tuna salad. I don't eat chicken, but the tuna salad is great! They also serve beer and wine. Only downside - they aren't open anywhere close to 24 hours and in fact, they close a little early in my opinion - 10pm during the week, 11 on weekends. more

Really good, basic food. It's very convenient to Duke's East Campus. There can be a wait at peak meal times and weekend mornings, but it usually is not too bad. Their service is usually very nice--I've only had one bad experience, which I wrote off as an anomaly (I eat here a lot). They serve breakfast all day, which is also a plus. more

Classic Diner 9/21/2005

Elmos is your typical small town diner. They serve breakfast all day, which is a plus in my book! There is a wait on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but they do offer self serve coffee and newspapers in the lobby. Elmos is also very kid friendly. They hand out crayons and paper to keep the kids entertained. You can't go wrong with their breakfast foods, hamburgers or milkshakes. The servers are very friendly and the price is right! more

Great breakfast spot! 9/2/2005

Elmo’s is one of the first places that I was brought to when I moved down to North Carolina. I just love this place, the atmosphere is casual and fun. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. I usually order something different every time I go there, and I have always left with a happy stomach! more

Yummy in my Tummy 8/23/2005

This place is dangerously close to my office, situated in the cozy Carrborro. I absolutely love this place for lunch. I have heard about the yummy brunch and my husband and I went there on a Saturday- the wait was over 30 minutes! We will have to go back and try again. All in all- the menu is great- lot's of choices and daily specials! more

Fun, Inexpensive Diner 8/23/2005

There are two Elmos, one in Durham, and one in Chapel HIll and both are equally good. This is a very family friendly restaurant, with very fast service. It is truly the diner experience, without any hokiness. The food is very good, and breakfast is served all day. There is sit down dining as well as a lunch counter. There can be a little bit of a wait during the lunch hour so try to hit it on either side of the noon rush. more

Well, I didn't expect much, but when I had my first bite, wow! It was fantastic! They have excellent service way beyond my expectations! Also the food here is great and its really clean looking too. Its quite refreshing to finally find some great food around town. its location is really convenient also. i would highly recommend more

good cheap food 8/17/2005

This was a popular place to go when we felt like eating out in college. The food is comfortingly homey, and the prices fit our college budgets. Breakfast is served all day, and the milkshakes are good. It's very popular for Sunday brunch - watch out for long waits. more
