Ok, lets start out by saying that as advertised these are cozy AUTHENTIC cabins. I don't know where you are from but log cabin to me does not bring up the picture of Air Conditio...

worst birthday ever 3/3/2008

wow it was my 27th birthday party and it got ruined the next day by the people who own ellis lake resort. they charged me an extra 100 dollars for leaving a couple of beer bottles at the hot tub. they also tried blaming us for ruining ther hot tub which we did not do. they also said we had extra people in the chalet which we didn't. they were very rude to us and ruined a birthday by screwing me over with an extra payment of an allready expensive stay. i would recommend never staying there the people are very uptight. Pros: the place was kinda private Cons: the owners were very rude more

Escape from every day life. 9/19/2006

My sister found this place about 10 years ago when a friend was relocating up there and needed a hotel room for the night and couldn't find anything during peak season. It soon became the yearly girls weekend away until my sister got married in 2000. That weekend we had the whole place for her wedding. She loves this place so much, she decided to get married at Frog Pond next door. Since then a group of us take the annual fall weekend getaway to celebrate their anniversary and the fall season. My husband fell in love with this place the first time I brought him. I'm not into camping and this is about as rustic as I like. A great bed to sleep in, a hot shower and a campfire at the end of the night after a soak in the hot tub is my kind of roughing it. So forget about the phone and tv and spend a little quiet time with your loved ones while enjoying nature. Pros: quiet, peaceful, relaxing Cons: time flies when you're here more

Get away from it all at beautiful Ellis Lake Resort 9/18/2006

Ok, lets start out by saying that as advertised these are cozy AUTHENTIC cabins. I don't know where you are from but log cabin to me does not bring up the picture of Air Conditioning and other little amenities that we leave at home. If I wanted all the bells and whistles of a hotel room I would be staying in a HOTEL. That being said, Ellis Lake Resort is the kind of place that you can go to in order to unwind from the hectic like you may live at home. The cabins are nicely setup with small kitchens and decorated tastefully. I have been going there with my Wife and her family for the past three years and this is their sixth year in a row. The owners are great hosts and make sure their guests are well taken care of. The whole atmosphere of the resort is a peacful one. There is nothing like a soak in the hot tub under the stars or laying on the dock late at night by the lake looking for shooting stars. I know I will be going to Ellis Lake Resort at least once a year for as long as it is around. Pros: Scenery, nice getaway, friendly staff Cons: Not able to make it up there enough more

Absolutely Wonderful! 3/13/2006

If you are looking to recapture the lakehouse days of summers at Grandma's cabin this is the perfect place! The cabins are quaint, electic/rustic (but not too rustic) and fully furnished. The private outdoor hotub sessions are a nice touch. We found the hosts warm and inviting but respectul of our privacy. They go the extra mile making sure our cabin and stay was perfect. The location is nice too, away fom the hustle and bustle of TC, but close enough to zip over there. We spent our honeymoon there and look forward to going back every year. Pros: Uniqueness, Hospitality, Private more

Doesn't live up to the hype! 2/22/2006

After looking at the web site and staying there for a week, leaving after 4days, boy were we disappointed! The cabins are very rustic. For the amount of money we were paying we did expect some convienences. The hosts were not around much after 5:00 to answer questions we had either. We found a nice quiet place around the corner in Interlochen, much closer to Duck and Green lakes, and paid half the price with hosts that bent over backwards for us. We already made reservations again at this motel for a week this summer. Pros: good parking Cons: on highway, too expensive, no air conditioning more
