If you are anything like me, you are searching on Citysearch for health clubs/gyms/trainers because you are looking for results and you want the money you spend to get you those results. Well... I promise you- you just found it. I cannot imagine better trainers or getting better results- I really can't. I signed up with Elite Fitness 6 months ago because I wanted something more than I knew I could do myself. 6 months ago, I was in a rut. I was overweight, exhausted all the time, out of shape and unhappy with how weak I felt. I was overwhelmed with the complications of extensive work travel, stress and raising 2 children as a single parent. There were more than enough excuses for why I didn't have the time for a place like Elite, why I didn't have the money, why I didn't have the energy... but the truth is that we only have one body and one life and it's really about figuring out how to prioritize what is important. Living a life sluggishly, feeling tired, depressed and weak is not a life. There can be no greater priority than your health- and feeling strong, sexy, athletic and powerful... there is nothing better that you can do for your life- for your family, your spouse, your job- than to prioritize your health. And at Elite Fitness, my priorities have been their priorities from Day 1... and all those things- feeling strong, sexy, athletic and powerful have come to me with Elite's help. Elite Fitness is a personal training facility with only about 3-4 people working out at the same time. They have around 9 trainers- 2 of them being the owners. When I first started, I thought I would prefer certain trainers over others- but oddly, that has never been the case. You rotate through different trainers and rarely have the same one twice in a row. I love this- because I never get bored and I can honestly say that there isn't a SINGLE trainer at Elite that I don't love being trained by. The workouts are all tracked so all the trainers are aware of your progress, injuries, challenges, etc. The circuit training combinations keep my heart rate up, my interest level high and I get an incredible cardio and weight workout EVERY single time I go. We all know those gyms that have standard personal trainers, carrying a clip board, looking uninterested and simply counting down reps as they move someone from machine to machine. I was not going to spend the money for that- for someone to babysit me as I barely broke a sweat. I wanted to get results, to be challenged, to learn new things and to have fun while doing it. The ironic part is that those standard, typical trainers' hourly rates are THE SAME as Elite Fitness... but there's a magnitude of difference in the results you will get with Elite. And speaking of results- in 6 months, I have lost about 50-55 pounds of fat (25% of my original body weight!), gained 5-10 pounds of muscle and have lost quite a few inches and percentages of body fat all over- along with better cardio, a stronger core than I've ever had in my life, all over better muscle strength- and I no longer require coffee 2-3 times per day just to stay awake. I am a former college athlete so I already knew how to lift weights, how to eat well, how to work out to get results- but for me- there was a big difference between knowing what to do and doing it- and in actuality, I do things at Elite that I never tried before... never would have done without them. There are members old and young, top level athletes to those who have never worked out in their lives... whatever your situation- I am positive that if you are committed and you start with Elite, you will get the results that you want. Signing up with Elite is one of the best decisions I have made. There's a reason that Elite has won award after award for best trainers, best gym, best personal training, etc. so make the first move- you will never regret it. more

Elite Fitness Bellevue 2/9/2011

Elite Fitness is awesome! I have to admit I was apprehensive about signing up. However, I had a good friend who was seeing them, and he couldn't say enough about Elite and the level of fitness he was achieving. I made the call, and have never looked back. Dave and the entire group of trainers are the best you'll find anywhere. They are now like family to me, and I truly look forward to every visit. There is genuine and personal involvement at all levels. If you are seeking the best fitness training possible...this is the place! more

Hard work, but what a payoff! 4/22/2010

Started training at Elite Fitness just over one year ago. I hadn’t done much of anything in the way of exercise for about ten years; and a crucial ten years at that – the ones between 40 and 50. Finally, I guess I just got tired of being tired and overweight, and making excuses for it. So I asked my son for a gym recommendation and he suggested Elite. After the initial consultation with Dave Johnson to discuss my goals, any injuries and health concerns, I committed to training 3x each week. Without reservation, I can say this is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. The results speak for themselves. At the end of one year, decreased body fat by 6%, gained lean muscle mass and strength and dropped 3 sizes in clothing, as well as gaining cardiovascular endurance. I came to them a year ago with bad knees and persistent lower back pain; knees are still bad, but all the muscles supporting them are stronger, so they don’t hurt as much. The lower back pain is gone, due to all the core strengthening work we’ve done. The Elite program provides the most efficient physical training I’ve ever had. Each one-hour session is a streamlined, jam-packed whole body workout that incorporates various forms of cardio and resistance work, but never in the same way twice. The trainers make notes on the sessions, so they are always tracking progress and staying vigilant about injuries and the individual needs of each client. All the trainers at Elite have the knowledge and expertise I was looking for. They are extremely well versed in the physiology of exercise, pay very close attention to correct form for all the weight training work and are knowledgeable in the nutrition component of a fitness program. I’ve learned a lot about how to exercise hard without getting injured. And I’m even learning boxing techniques and we’re incorporating that training into my workouts. It’s never boring and always challenging. And to my surprise, it's been really fun; I look forward to every workout. I would never go back to the standard gym routine that one finds everywhere. At Elite, the philosophy is to constantly push each client physically, but it’s a real art tailoring those workouts to find the balance between challenging and too hard. Elite has definitely mastered this art. It’s just an awesome facility. Pros: knowledgeable, friendly, supportive trainers; more

The athlete in me; It's the trainers stupid!! 4/5/2010

Now into my fourth month of training at EF, I am very pleased with their program. As a busy plastic surgeon in the Seattle area it was well past time to work on my strength and endurance. I had been a good athlete and considered myself pretty athletic but ignored being active recently because ""I didn't have the time"". It's obvious how much I was fooling myself, indeed cheating myself. Since starting training there, I have lost 18 pounds, three inches off of my waist and about 8% of my body fat. So much more important is that I feel sooo much better. I don't tire easily even after a long day and am much more agile and stronger. I am considering getting back to some active sports that I used to do. My joints ache less and I have that spring back in my step. I am suprised by how much more confident and relaxed I feel. Pros: Intense, focused, individual sessions by qualified trainers more

My joints ache less and I have that spring back in my step. I am suprised by how much more confident and relaxed I feel. I am impressed by the level of professionalism and personalization of my workouts. The sessions are intense but safe. My conditioning and strength is better than it has been in years.. The smaller more intimate space and limited number of clients allows for more individual attention in a comfortable, friendly setting. I am grateful to the dedication of the trainers; I would not be at the level I am so quickly without their help. It's such a great feeling to reach that new level I didn't think I could reach without their guidance and encouragement. .The sessions continue to challenge me without being boring and I love the way I feel the rest of the day, even with the soreness. Many of you may balk at the cost of having a personal trainer for each of your sessions but it is money well spent, There is no cheating but the trainers work with you at your speed. Truly, what you put into it is what you will get out of it. Don't worry if you are not too fit going into this. The hardest part is getting started and the people there offer gentle encouragement. The improvement is significant and impressive. I hope to continue training and look at some new possibilities for other types of physical outlet that I would not have considered in the future Pros: Intense, focused, individual sessions by qualified trainers more

Have Fun While Working Your Butt Off 1/27/2010

I found Elite Fitness by “googling” personal trainer Bellevue … I began visiting all the listings and stopped my search within minutes of walking into Elite Fitness. That was a year and a half ago. It’s a gym with heart & hand-picked trainers who know your name, who love what they do and love where they work … they’re upbeat and energetic … it’s contagious … come in grumpy … it’s banished. I’ve never done the same routine and rarely the same exercise … I say I want to get in shape for a cycling trip, a ski trip, a yoga retreat and miraculously, I am. I may still not look forward to each and every workout, but I do feel incredibly good after each one. And no more chronic aches and pains. Elite is the gold standard for professional fitness training in a welcoming and non-intimidating environment. Check it out. Pros: Professional . Accountable . Fun . Results Cons: None more

It has been a long time coming for me to return to exercise. Finally, a diabetes diagnosis caused me to take the necessary steps. I couldn't have walked in the door with more trepidation, I walked out feeling that this was a team that wanted to bring about my own personal success. It has been four weeks, twelve workouts, and I know now that my first impressions didn't approach the potential of this great team. Having been a long time member of that big name professional sports club in Bellevue, I can tell you that the trainers here are many steps above and their ego's do not exist. Their goal is the same as mine - that is a first! They never push packages, no changing prices, all of that is completely transparent and totally up to the client. They have a plethora of resources from nutritionists to a wonderful therapeutic masseuse. Again, no push, but they are more than happy to offer if you ask for referrals. I'd like to single out a few people as well. Dave and Alex, the owners, are warm and caring human beings first, owning the business seems secondary. In fact, it was many weeks before I learned of the ownership - they are great trainers. Next, I would single out Aron as an outstanding coach. Tough and kind at the same time, and so clearly focused on my outcomes. I am not a fit person, I am more than 50 lbs overweight and yes, there are a lot of skinnies but somehow it comes down to all being there for the same reason. In fact, it was fear of the skinnies in cute outfits that made the decision to JUST GO such a struggle. I am so glad that I got over that. In my case, they have worked around my neck issues, my diabetes, my high blood pressure. I am confident that I made the right choice and I have never ever had a boring workout. If you are in my shoes, I hope that you will take the chance on Elite Fitness - they deserve your trust. They certainly have mine. Pros: Trainers, Facility, Management Cons: Can't Think of Any more

Better than.... (any number of things honestly) 11/20/2009

From email I sent Elite Fitness yesterday: This is the best thing I’ve done for myself in a while. My goal is simply to be healthy and fit (I’ve been the unhealthy route due to bad choices as well as accident) and it’s been negotiable for too long. o I have told all my friends I’m back exercising and enjoying it! o I have used my Facebook status on more than one occasion to comment how good I felt after a session. o I’m encouraging my boyfriend to give it a try. o I’m really happy with the work I’m doing at the gym. o I wish I could afford more time with you all. o I look forward to going in! All the sessions I’ve had have been 100% enjoyable – hard work. Benji, Julie, Paul, and Aaron have all pushed me in a positive way to help achieve a great session. I’ll call out my session with Benji – to be honest I can’t remember exactly what we did, but driving home that day I realized I was in a really great mood. I turned off the radio because it was interfering with my calmness. I just wanted to get into the warm ocean or pool and float physically because that was where my mind was. I’m a diver and one of my favorite dives, in fact a personal benchmark, is one that somehow replays in my head when I’m feeling very good. That’s where I was – drifting over a lovely reef, colors flashing by, watching the sea life, with a giant smile on my face. Only I was driving on 405 and needing to pay attention. Seattle winters are painful for me – mentally and physically. Dark, cold, and wet awful. I think Elite Fitness is what’s going to keep me happy and sane this winter. Each time I leave the gym I feel better than when I went in. That’s what I’m telling my friends. You should try them too, Pros: most supportive trainers!!! Cons: not going daily more

Change your life, not just your fitness 10/29/2009

I have been going to Elite for almost 2 years, and started out almost 300 pounds. I was worried that a boutique type gym would only have skinny people, and that I would feel totally out of place - but the opposite has been true for me. From my initial consultation with Dave, to my first training session with Mike, to every time I come in I get greeted by the staff, I feel a part of the team, and amazingly not self conscience! Each workout is personalized to my current workout ability (amazing what a great workout I got even when I had a broken toe!) The fun about going to Elite is that you will see results if you are committed. My accomplishments: - Walked half marathon 8 months after starting - Lost 70+ pounds so far - Training for triathalon in 2010 - Running 5k races I would encourage anyone out there to give Elite Fitness a try as they are amazingly supportive of helping all sizes and shapes to improve not only your physical health but to improve your life. Pros: Variety, get results, THE BEST trainers Cons: wish I could go more! more

Great gym - if you're already in shape 10/11/2009

On my first visit, I spent about an hour talking with one of the owners and providing a thorough fitness history. I was reassured that, despite their videos showing only people in great shape, I would fit right in. They had a Sunday fitness class that worked well for my schedule, so I decided to try it. At 250lbs, I couldn' t have felt more out of place. Everyone in the class was in top shape, or very near it, and looked just like the people in the video. Pros: Clean; attentive staff Cons: Overweight people stick out like a sore thumb here more

Great Workout 9/10/2009

I received specific attention from the moment I walked in the door. My trainer, Aron, wanted to know what my goals were, and was attentive to them. He also asked about my general health, wanted to make sure he was aware of potential injuries, etc. When we started training, he was positive and encouraging while working me really hard. He exhausted me, but after I was done, I felt like I had done something. It was the kind of workout that wasn't fun, but I knew it would help me accomplish my goals. I would recommend it if you're not too afraid of a little pain. Pros: Best workout i've ever had Cons: Best workout i've ever had more
