Something for everyone 10/3/2008

This is my favorite restaurant in Waltham! I love to bring people here, because they have something for everybody, from my friends who are impressed by the number of vegan dishes on the menu, to the meat-lovers who love the Loc-Lac and the steak-frites. I have also come here with children in tow, and the staff were very helpful in finding things that the kids would eat. Pros: Unique flavors, fresh food more

Pathetic food and prices 9/20/2007

Elephant walk has some of the worst Viet/French food I have had in the country. The wine list is thirsty, the dinner menu has some excellent dish names but the dishes themselves are overly sweet and do not do justice to the cuisine. The appetizers were greasy and also too sweet. The service was not so bad but lacked charisma. On the whole, try some other restaurant. more

Don't Bother 8/22/2007

Disappointed from the moment I walked in the door. Dirty floors, food on the wall from previous diners and a disgusting bathroom. The service was so-so, the waitress was pleasant but made no attempt to wipe up a puddle which had seeped from our appetizer onto the table, so it sat there the entire time because she never stopped over to see how we were doing. The food was bland and overpriced. I've had better, cheaper. I should have gone with my first instinct and turned around as soon as I sat. The only good part of the meal was the bread, which is brought in from outside and baked on-site. Cons: Food, atmosphere, service more

the best 6/25/2007

this is one of my family's faviorites. we've been going for years now. the staff is amazing, and the food is wonderful. there is a great variety, and everything is great! i would recomend this to anyone. Pros: the service, the food, almost everthing more

Disappointing 5/13/2006

I was looking forward to a unique dining experience and was disappointed with stale bread, mediocre salad, a good entree that was difficult to eat (due to the presentation of fish sitting in soup that needed to be cut and, thus, splashed around a lot), an ok dessert, and poor service. The service was the worst part of the meal. Although our server was nice, most of the service was provided as an afterthought while walking by with someone else's dirty dishes or after we grabbed her for assistance. Dishes were brought out before we were finished with the previous course and, occasionally, put on the table in an askew fashion (i.e. not in front of me). They might have been short-staffed that night, as it did seem, but I won't go back to find out if they can do better. Too many other good restaurants. Pros: parking lot available Cons: service, food, value more

Nice but not the real deal. 6/4/2002

A clean and tidy spot, Carambola serves up some tasty meals....but not all are as fresh as one would expect. The fish for instance, presumably monk, was bland, and at least a couple of days old. Spring rolls were soft and greasy. The service was fast but not helpful. All in all, another Asian restaurant which has altered the cuisine to suit the American palate. Definitely not the real deal. more
