Elegant International Service lost the upper layer of a two layer dress, and refuses to acknowledge their irresponsibility. Their justification? They said that the reciept mentioned "One Black Dress", and they didn't notice or care that it was in two layers. The history: I dropped off two skirts and my favorite Anthropologie dress, a sweet black number with white lace trim and white embroidery. The dress consisted of a top layer, which had the white lace trim on it, and a sheer underslip. On the receipt is was written in as "1 black dress", not "1 slip and dress", or "1 dabut I though that they had counted the set as one item. I picked the order up on Monday. The man at the counter shoved the bag at me instead of offering to let me inspect my things before I took them, but I was in a hurry. Three days later, I wanted to wear the dress, and I saw that only the thin black slip had been returned.
I called them twice in the morning, explained the problem, and was told the second time that they were working on it and would get back to me. Nobody did. The man that I spoke to when I called late that afternoon to see if they had found the dress had no knowledge of my problem, and when I patiently tried to explain that only the underslip of a two layer dress had been returned to me, he wouldn't listen and hung up on me. When I called back again to try and explain, once more he barked, "Owner in tomorrow! You talk him, not me!" I don't understand how a cleaner with such lousy customer service and negligable attention to detail could ever manage to remain open. I really want to cry, because love that dress; the slip by itself is no good to me, and Elegant cleaners were careless, besides being brusque to a level unforgivable even in New Yorkers. Go anywhere but here.
