Lake Street is the place to find authentic Mexican food in Minneapolis, and El Norteno is one of the best choices. Great food and friendly service are consistently found on my visits to dine in or carry out. One of my favorite things to do is try the various drinks, including Horchata, which is something I haven't seen anywhere else.
They don't have a full liquor license, but they do have plenty of Corona and Negra Modelo, along with other wine and beer options.
They don't bring tabs to your table, so first timers often end up waiting and waiting. Just go to the front when you're done to settle up.
They also have a small market where you can buy many of the raw ingredients in what you just ate, or a candy snack for the trip home.
