El Azteca Mexican Taco Shop

The salsa was watered down and flavorless. The meat in the burrito and in my wife's taco was equally flavorless. I think it's authentic in a "I'm from Utah and would like to visit Mexico someday" kind of way. Betos is way better if you want semi-authentic cheap mexican food. more

My husband and I have moved to Salt Lake but still drive down to Orem on occasion and always try and hit El Azteca. The place is always clean and you can get a great meal for under $6. The service is fast. I love the tacos, husband loves their steak burritos. They are willing to customize orders for picky eaters like me. more

They people here are friendly, and the food portions are plentyful. Everything Ive had here is tasty. If your super hungry to try tackle the nachos with shredded beef. My personal favorite is the beef taco combo, excellent beef with beans and rice. Cant beat the food and it comes at a decent price. more

El Azteca started out over twenty-five years ago with one EXCELLENT sit down formal Mexican restaurant, tucked upstairs over some older buildings in the lower Provo area. Several years later it branched out into the fast food business with two stores opening in Provo & Orem respectively. They serve up excellent Mexican food, very quickly and it seriously tastes like sit down restaurant quality. I personally love the chicken & shredded beef hard shelled tacos served with beans and rice, but for a real splurge try their fried ice cream. They always have a small area with fresh homemade sauces & condiments including a fresh tasty pico de gallo. The counter help is very friendly and speaks fluent English. They continually provide clean restrooms and dinning area with a nice touch of Mexican decor. I prefer the Orem store as it is a much newer building, but both serve the same excellent food! Try it out, you won't be disappointed, they have the experience behind them to serve up superior Mexican food! more

I always really liked this place. It's not much on looks, but the food is exactly what you want: not the overblown, unrealistic food of so many a mexican restaurant, but what they really eat in Mexico served how they serve it. My friends and I would eat here all the time and we found it to be an excellent alternative to Taco Hell and all the wanna be Taco Hell's out there. The prices are reasonable and I always found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. more

This is as authentic Mexican food as you can order without crossing the border. The same family immigrated here 50 years ago, and now employs their Spanish-speaking grandchildren to staff this cafe. It does help to speak Spanish when ordering, although English is understood. The combination plates are my favorite, including specialities as homemade tquitos and mole. My young children always have loved their filled churros. Their tacos are even loaded in fried double, homemade tostades. Excellent frsh salsa bar including pico de gallo. Plates range at $6 a person. more
