Pretty Good 2/18/2009

I am sorry I am not a snotty person from California so maybe I am not the best person to judge this restaurant. The food is cheap, you get it fast, and it is pretty good. Perfect place to grab a quick, reasonably priced lunch. Pros: quick, cheap Cons: a little dirty looking more

Raleigh's Best Mexican Restaurant 9/25/2008

Incredible food that is even better than what I have had in Mexico combined with fast and friendly service is what makes El Rodeo the best Mexican restaurant in Raleigh and particularly this individual location. Tequila drinks are well made and portioned and so is the food. The chips are always hot and fresh and they keep the salsa coming. If you love great cheese dip and guacamole they have you covered there too. I have been eating there for years and this is the place to go if you want the best Mexican food. They have also redecorated over the past two years and now sport a very artistic and tasteful decor and interior that I really like. You can't go wrong with El Rodeo. Pros: Friendly Staff, Attentive Waiters, Great Food, Nice Decor Cons: None but parking can be a challenge on weekend nights. more

The positive reviews are exceedingly misleading. 3/13/2008

I'm assuming most of the people who are writing all the positive reviews are Southerners who have never had truly good Mexican food. The food at El Rodeo is - AT BEST - average. The quality has varied the several times I've gone, and the quality and atmosphere differs depending on which one you go to. The one on Wake Forest is straight-up depressing. \r \r If you're looking for Burritos, the best place I've found in Raleigh is Baja Burrito. If you're looking for high quality Mexican food with a great vibe, the best choice by a mile is Dos Taquitos. Pros: service Cons: food, atmosphere more

TERRIBLE Mexican food!!!! 8/31/2006

I actually signed onto Citysearch just to write this review after going to this place based on the positive reviews. Ok, so MAYBE I'm a bit spoiled coming from California - the land of endless great Mexican food. But this place was a DUMP! But more importantly, the food was horrible. The most shocking thing to me was the salsa --- it tasted like tomato sauce (no joke!) I mean, really, I can buy better salsa in a jar at the grocery store. It was a depressing experience all around. I have no idea how anyone could give this place positive reviews - the only positive thing I could find was the friendly service. But I just can't get over how terrible and dumpy this place was! And finally, the ""taco salad"" (an entree) was just this teeny portion of lettuce and beans. On the contrary, a tortilla soup ordered as an appetizer (not on the menu but was given upon request to one of our party) looked like a bowl big enough for 4 people! Sorry, but just terrible all around. Pros: friendly service Cons: food, atmosphere more

Buena comida! 8/25/2005

This is THE place for Mexican food! We have been eating here for years and have always enjoyed it. The servers are all very nice and take very good care of us. We've tried other mexican restaurants including other El Rodeo's, but this location is the best. The food is always hot and delicious.Enjoy one of their excellent Margaritas with the Fajitas Texanas or a combination plate (my favorite:Beef Burrito, chicken quesadilla and the best rice!) Service is prompt, chips are crispy and the cheese dip is incredible! Pros: cheese dip, burritos, fajitas more

El Rodeo 9/3/2003

I live in Washington, DC these days and when I come home to the RDU area I spend days anticipating a meal at El Rodeo. This is definitely the best Mexican restaurant (for the price!) around and unfortunately there is nothing close in the entire metropolitan DC area! Pros: cheap, fast service, great food more
