The best bargin meals you can buy in Pacific Heights 12/9/2008

what a fantastic accidential discovery! i have been a faithful customer for several years - even though the prices have gone up ever so slightly, by comparison this is by far one of the best bargin meals you can buy in Pacific Heights. My experiences have always be extremely great and I have come to know quite a few of the people who work there...\r so if you only have 5 bucks in your pocket - you can still walk out the door with change but don't forget to leave a tip - they desserve it !\r \r Michael ..... more

Consistently satisfying 1/24/2007

I live four blocks away from El Burrito Express and have been going there for the past decade, and never have I had a negative experience. The burritos are thick, moist and hot, with lots of sauce and not too much rice like a lot of places. I always get a chicken burrito with hot sauce - the Super Broncos are huge, enough to split one with someone else and be satisfied. There is usually a line, but it moves quickly - these people are pros. The only downside: the chips that come free are dry, stale and practically inedible. Pros: great food, fast service, relatively easy parking Cons: No ambience whatsoever, closed on Sundays more

Cheap and Good Burrito! 11/9/2006

One of the best burritos I've ever had in this price range. Very good and very big. I had a regular chicken burrito but could not finish. My daughter only finished half (she loves birrito!) This is not fancy place. I always order to go. Good place for lunch and supper! highly recommended! Pros: Price, Food Cons: Small Place more

Best Burrito 7/27/2006

El Burrito Express is great! My favorite is their chile verde meat. The carne asada is also good. I think the pollo is on the dry side, though. But as long as I still with chile verde, it's all good to me! more

My favorite Sunset Burrito 7/4/2006

I always get a super bronco burrito with grilled steak, huge and very tasty. Food is always fresh and high quality. more

Awesome Burrito! 12/12/2005

I was craving a burrito, looked on Citysearch to see if there were any near me, and low and behold, I was so excited to see that there is a burrito place down the street! It's definitely a little 'ma n pa' type place, but that where the best food is! Service was great and prices were reasonable. The chicken, super burrito was huge (had to save half of it for later), and the fish taco I got wasn't exactly small either! If you want an excellent burrito and are in the neighborhood, definitely stop in! Pros: large portion sizes, service, location, close to me Cons: space to dine in more

Salt Lick Central 11/23/2005

Never had I experienced the worse burrito of my life. Not only was the serving portion size of the SUPPOSED SUPER burrito was equal to that of a Don Miguel Frozen Burrito from 7-11 but the carnitas was overly dry and SALTIER THAN A SALT LICK FOR A DEER. WORSE EVER EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! Pros: n/a, n/a, n/a Cons: service, price, food more

Best burrito and nachos in town!!! 7/14/2005

I always order the espresso burrito, its a burrito topped with enchilada sauce, avacado, and cheese. The burrito is so big and filling that I eat it in two meals. They also give you chips with it, which makes you even fuller. I like to use the chips to scoop out the filling. You need to eat the burrito with a knife and fork. They also make the best chips in town, nice thick, like kettle chips. They're nachos are also very good too, same chips, and sprinkle the cheese on top of the chips and broil the whole thing. It is also very cheap too, less than $6 for a burrito or nacho. Pros: Burrito, Nachos, Price more

Really no better burrito place 5/18/2005

Somehow something gets messed up between the Taraval and Davisadero versions, the Taraval is much better. Good meaty portions of carnitas (not overly fried) --- the chile colorado EXPRESSO burrito is good, wet and will knock you out for two days -- and the surf 'n' turf is worth the 7+ bucks. I'll never understand what's so hard about a burrito but so many places get it wrong and el B. E. just gets it right. Pros: inexpensive more

Unassuming, simple, and delicious 5/17/2005

El Burrito Express steak burritos stand a head and shoulders above any other I've had in the city. I can't fully explain why - there are fresher ingredients and more exotic options at places like Pancho Villa, and you probably wouldn't visit El Burrito Express for the atmosphere. But for a classic, large, delicious burrito with everything you want and nothing you don't, hit up EBE. Pros: Big Burritos, Great steak more

Best burritos in the city! 4/14/2005

I just can't get anough of this place! Anyone who loves mexican food must try this place out. THE BEST! more

The best burritos in the Sunset besides Gordo's 1/19/2005

This is primarily a burrito take-out place with 3-4 window counter stools for dining. My family like the large burritos (super burritos are even bigger!) and chicken quesadilla (no sauce). You can substitute black instead of pinto beans in the burritos. The enchilada is ok but the beef tamale is better. They slop on a lot of red sauce with the enchilada combo dinner, which is quite messy. You get a sm plastic bag of delicious crispy tortilla chips w/your burrito. I agree w/a previous review that the taquerias and Mexican restaurants in the Mission are better, but for the Sunset, this is probably the only place for a decent burrito. It's popular in the evenings around dinner time & the burritos are their biggest seller. My favorite is the specialty burrito, Surf n' Turf with steak and whole grilled shrimp (lots of it). It's so big, I can only eat 1/2 of it for a meal. Pros: big burritos, quick service Cons: Parking, 4 counter spaces for eat-in more

overrated burrito 1/19/2004

Burrito was average. Not bad, but not great either. I've had better burrito's in the Mission. However, I also had the tamales and they were great. They were topped with cheese and some red sauce (ranchero?) and was quite tasty. I'd recommend coming here for the tamales and skipping the burritos. more

Very Good! 8/13/2003

The burritos are delicious! I would recommend having the surf and turf, it's prawns and beef, and it's very good! more

Great Burritos! 7/5/2003

MMMM Good! The burritos are so good! The surf and turf: shrimp with meat, is the best! The espresso burrito is also very good! It's all good, try it out and try them all! Pros: very good food, good service, good prices more

Yummy burritos! 2/24/2003

Since there is a severe lack of taquerias in the sunset, I was hopeful that this would be a good one! And it was! Though I did see a few seats at a bar, I think it's mostly take-away. I had a shrimp burrito which was quite tasty, though I had to order it specially, since it's not on the menu. My roomie had a carnitas wet burrito and he loved it. Next time I will try the fish tacos. I would definitely go here again. Pros: Friendly, Burritos good, Guacamole tasty Cons: Only take-away more
