You'll learn a lot on a guided tour 4/16/2006

I recently was a parent chaperone on a 3rd graders' trip here. We also went to the Children's Museum, and I liked the Eiteljorg much more. The kids went through the Children's Museum at a slow run and I felt they learned little, but here we had an excellent guide who explained the various Indian artifacts to us and really made them interesting. This is a true museum and you mainly look, not touch. I don't know that it would have been so meaningful to me on my own, but the tour guide really made it an excellent visit. I'd definitely go with a guided tour. more

Learn more about Native American history 3/29/2006

The Eiteljorg museum offers a vast array of Native American artifacts and displays. During the summer, they hold a great market/eat-around, where you can go and sample unique American Indian foods. The museum takes a while to tour, and you can spend lots of time just reading the display labels. Of special interest is the teepee and occasional artisan demos. more

Go to learn 9/6/2005

Guides here are enamored with Native American history, artwork and artifacts. They are happy to tell you everything they know. I personally like to just walk around and soak up the artwork in silence, but it's nice you have the option. Great for school groups, but be sure they are old enough to appreciate what they are seeing (I wouldn't take a group of second graders, if you catch my drift). more

Great Scout Tour!! 8/3/2005

I was impressed by the museum tour that our scout troop participated in recently. We were lead by a tour guide who told us extra things about the exhibits & the life of the American Indians. There is a scout patch that is available with rockers to go around it. So expect multiple trips to get all the "rockers". They do have special exhibits & they just opened a new wing of the museum. They also have a gift shop. Security is high in this museum. Parking is garage-style; extra fee. more
