Great Store 10/21/2008

Although there is not much organization and not the greatest selection, the store is very cheap. I just wish it was not on Capital. It is not the safest area. The employees were helpful and they took everything I brought to trade. more

One of my favorites 4/17/2006

Ed McKays is one of my favorite used bookstores to go to. I will usually go there with book, intending to leave with a little cash, and end up leaving with a crapload more books. They have a wonderful selection taht is organized remarkably well for a used bookstore. Theyalso have a good selection of video games and CDs, last time i checked DVDs and VHS tapes as well. more

Great used book store! 4/16/2006

McKays offers an amazing selection of used books at great low prices. Everything from fiction to cooking to home improvement to teacher resource to children's. They also buy/sell CDs, VHS, and DVDs. If you a college student, you should check at McKay's before paying full price for any college text -- McKays sells used college textbooks. You can sell your used paperbacks (maybe some hardbacks) here - opt for store credit as you get more money for your books that way. They tend to give 35% cash for your books, but 50% store credit. Staff is friendly and always helpful. Service is usually quick. Books are well organized by genre. One of my favorite places to spend a Sunday afternoon. more

Excellent Used Books 4/10/2006

Ed McKays is a excellent place to go when you're looking for a used book. I will often go here and just browse the shelves and see what I can find. They also purchase books, so you can make a little cash off books you no longer read. You get more money in store credit, so if you like to read I suggest taking the credit rather than the cash for your trade ins. more

Great used bookstore! 12/1/2005

We love to make an outing out of going to Edward McKay's. We gather all our old books, videos, dvds and bring them in. They give us trade credit and then we shop. They have a large kids selection, lots for both little kids and older ones. The DVDs are high I think but the cds and videos are a bargain. But mostly we buy more books! In fact, some rooms in our house are starting to look like Edward McKay's. more

nice bookstore 8/21/2005

This bookstore has a lot of items here and there. I found most of what I was looking for, but not this one book but thats alright because I found it else where. The staff is friendly and they helped me out a lot and saved time by finding the books I wanted to get. I didn't have to pay much for the items either which is my big plus. more

Great Used Bookstore 8/21/2005

At Ed Mckay used books, you can find just about anything! The not only sell books, but cds, dvds, and video games. I have had such good luck finding all sorts of things. My son enjoys picking out used books to add to his collection. We have picked up Thomas the train books, Barney, Little People, Dr. Seuss and the like for barely anything at all. They have everything put into sections that is easy to find. If you are looking for one of Dr. Phil's many books, they have a section devoted to him. They even have an audio section for people who like books on tape. I can't say enough about this used bookstore! more

decent selection 8/19/2005

They carry books of all kinds (including current college textbooks) video games, music CDs, audio books, VHS movies, and DVDs. You must be at least 18 to sell to Edward McKay's. If you're not at least 18, you'll need to bring a parent or guardian with you. Mon - Sat 9-9, Sun 12-6 more

Used book store and so much more 7/19/2005

My first experience with Edward McKay was in Greensboro and I have been hooked ever since. All of their inventory comes from people who trade their books, CDs, and movies in to the store. This is a great place to get lost in the stacks for a few hours and they cater to a large variety of clientele. Everyone from students selling text books to beachgoers unloading their paperbacks from the summer can be found at Ed McKay. There is a plethora of choices to be found and it is worth digging to find them. more

McKay Books Has Lots of CD's, DVD's & Video Games too! 7/8/2005

Ed McKay Books is a people watcher’s paradise. You’ll see all kinds here, especially among the eclectic employees. The selection is huge and (mostly) organized. They have a huge CD, DVD and Video Game selection in addition to the books. Prices are comparable to other used bookstores in the area. They offer cash or trade credit for your used books, CD’s, DVD’s, Video Games, and Video Game systems. The only downside is that your trade credit can only be used on books & CD’s. You gotta pay cash for the DVD’s and Video Games. They’ve also got a “free shelf” of books that are rejects from their trade-ins where you can find a no-cost read. Parking is generally good except when the place is really hopping. more
