Perfection! 11/19/2011

I love, love, love this place!! Don't listen to these unsatisfied people on here. They wouldn't know a good thing if it hit them in the head. These cakes are the real deal. People talking about ""dough"" have not a clue about what a real southern pound cake is. The ""dough"" is what us southerners call a ""sad streak"" and it is the best part! Stop hating and enjoy life, people. Eat the ""sad streak"" and ENJOY!!! Love this place!! Keep up the good work! more

Sweet 16 not!!! 11/13/2011

Wished i would have seen the reviews first. We purchased a Sweet 16 cake for our daughters birthday and what a dissapointment it ended up being. The party was a big hit but the cake was not so. When we cut into the cake and served it to the first few guess you could see it all over their faces that this cake was not so SWEET matter of fact it was like a soild piece of dough. You could actully take the cake and form it into a ball as of it was cookie dough. We took the cake back to EdibleArt and was meet by the owner, whom I explained the problem too and she informed me that it is a very dense pound cake like grandma makes and it comes from a old family reciept. I told her that you could form dough balls out of the cake, and she asked me if I ever had pound cake before, and i said yes and her response to me is ""well i guess you just don.t like pound cake"". The truth of the matter is my mother was a pastry chlef her entirer life and i must say i do miss her pound cake. So i guess i just dont care for your pound cake that is nothing but a 10 pound lead wieght. Spent $130 dollars on this cake only to find we wasted a $130. Unless you have the money to throw down the drain don't buy a cake from Edible Art. more

Soooo Disappointed!!! 10/17/2011

I am new to the area and have been looking desperately for a bakery that does custom cakes for children. I saw Edible Art of Charlotte online and despite all of the bad reviews I still took a chance at purchasing a cake for my son's birthday. Please, please, please take the reviews posted on this site into consideration; I wish I would have. The cake was soooo ugly and cheap looking. It looked like my daughter made it with her Easy Bake Oven and they wanted to charge me $120.00. I refused to pay for it or even take it home. The lady at the bakery did allow me to take the cake without paying the remaining balance. So I took it to Harris Teeter, where they made it look a little better for the party. We served the cake to the guest and it was soooo NASTY! The cake was sooooo DRY and it tasted like it was not done; just like the reviews stated. This bakery needs to go out of business. Please take these reviews into consideration. I never write reviews, but took the time because I do not want anyone to have a party that was ruined like I did. more

Disappointed! 5/2/2011

I was really excited to be ordering another cake from Edible Art. The last time I ordered one for my husband's 40th birthday, it was wonderful! I had guests comment that they didn't like cake or eat it usually but this one was fantastic. So I decided to splurge on my son's cake this year. Usually I just get one at Harris Teeter but since he wanted a ""cheetah"" cake I knew the perfect place to get a cake. I was extremely disappointed to say the very least. The cake was dry and tasted like it had been left out on a counter for days. The icing was so sweet it didn't even taste good. My husband thought the cheetah looked more like a dog than a cheetah.I spent close to $65.00 on a cake and I would have been better off making one myself or getting one at Harris Teeter. I won't bother getting a cake from here again. more

Very, very dry cake 3/16/2009

Despite reading negative comments about Edible Art on other web sites, I ordered a cake from them this weekend because the location is so convenient. We were VERY disappointed. Our cake was very, very dry, and our guests did not enjoy it . Cons: My guests weren't pleased more

A really great place to get a cake 6/1/2008

I've been using Edible Art of Charlotte for 10 years and they've always been really nice and very professional to me. I've called them at the last minute and they've always come through for me in a pinch. Their cakes are very rich so if you want a light, fluffy ""box"" cake this is not the place for you. I will never go anywhere else except Edible Art. They're the best. Pros: Great cakes!! Cons: Parking!! more

Lead weight 5/14/2008

I purchased a cake for my daughter's 15th birthday, when I cut into the cake I was horrified. There was a one inch thick mound of dough in the middle. It appeared it was uncooked and was unedible. I called and left two messages. A surley women returned my call, she stated they try not to let the cakes go out that way but she would offer me a free cake for the future. She assured me it was cooked just extremely dense. She then put down the phone and mocked me to the other employees, repeatedly making fun of me. Nice customer service, funny -she didn't have that tone when I ordered and paid in full weeks earlier. I would NEVER recommend them unless you need a lead weight. Pros: Nice decoration but unedible Cons: Surley Customer Service more

wonderful sweets 4/27/2008

I'm from Florida and we don't have anything nearly as good as this nice little shop. The cakes that I've had were wonderful. The designs are so creative and the young ladies there were very nice and knew exactly what I was looking for. The almond cake is wonderful and the chocolate was just devine. I'll be back for more! Thank you. Pros: frest cakes, great designs and service Cons: not one located in Florida more

Praises, praises, praises 2/13/2008

Praises go out to Edible Arts of Charlotte. They were very professional and nice. We had their undivided attention when ordering our daughter's Christening cake and it was both beautiful and delicious! They treated my husband and I like we were the only ones in the the store that day and it was a full house. They had our best interest at heart. The only thing I didn't like was that the cake was uncovered. It was a three tier but it would be nice if they could find a way to keep it covered until it reaches it's destination. I have recommended all my family and friends to Edible Arts. We will see you soon for a baby shower cake!!! May your business continue to be blessed.\r The Wilson Family Pros: service, taste, decor Cons: parking, can improve on covering tiered cakes more

Best Bakery in Charlotte!!!! 2/20/2007

This bakery is phenomenal. I sent them several pictures I had found on the internet, and they duplicated this to the nth degree! It exceeds all of my expectations. The customer service is wonderful, the shop is ultra clean, and pastry skills supberb! \r \r I really can't imagine my wedding or bridal shower without a cake from Edible Art. They are THE BEST IN CHARLOTTE! I wouldn't trust anyone else for any cake I need. I am a customer for life!!! \r \r Cindy \r Charlotte, NC Pros: PASTRY SKILLS, CUSTOMER SERVICE, and CLEANLINESS Cons: NOT A SINGLE ONE!!! more

have your cake and eat it too !! 6/21/2006

This shop located in Myers Park is great! The women there are so nice and creative and they have the best cakes of anywhere in the south bar none. Be careful with them though (the cakes). They don't like heat and they don't like the fridge. The cakes stay good for days. Yum. I think I'll go by tomorrow and buy a slice. Pros: made from scratch, real pound cake. Cons: order ahead. more

Waste of time and money 3/25/2006

I called to inquire about ordering a birthday cake for a birthday and the person on the phone was very abrupt. I had visited their website and just wanted to know more about the types of cakes they would be able to prepare. I was told they were busy, it was too complicated to explain to me on the phone & just to come in. I came in early next week to order & again was treated abruptly (borderline rude). When I picked up the cake - I finally received a bit of customer service & was treated decently. The cake visually was beautiful but the taste was horrific. It was very dry & very bland. Overall, the experience was a disappointment. more

Awesome! 10/28/2005

Edible Art of Charlotte is definitely the place for your special occasions cakes! Homemade, made from scratch pound cakes and real buttercream icing, they are truly works of art- need I say more?? The staff at Edible Art was so patient and helpful in helping my daughter create her dream wedding cake. It looked awesome and tasted even better. We have tiers of lemon, orange, almond and spice - perfect for an October wedding. The groom's cake was awesome as well. It was a perfect 3 dimensional replicate of Neyland Stadium! The groom was floored when he saw it. We only had a small piece of one tier to take home. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful ! Pros: Taste, Designs, Staff more

I love this place!! 10/27/2005

I can't say enough good things about Edible Art of Charlotte!!! The cakes there are superb! They are truly works of art. The staff is very professional and always helpful. I have truly loved everything I have ever gotten there. One time I got a cake that wasn't quite what I had in my mind. I didn't really know how to convey what I wanted over the phone. All I had to do was simply tell the lady that helped me. She was so nice and fixed my cake right up to exactly what I wanted. I will always go get my cakes here. Nobody else can compare. This is the place to go!! Pros: delicious, artful, creative more

Not edible, definitely not art 10/12/2005

I ordered a 6"" birthday cake from Edible Art but what I received was trash. The cake was extremely dense yet dry. I wasn't specific with the artwork of the cake when I ordered because from their display cakes, I was sure I wouldn't be disappointed. Boy was I wrong. The cake looked like it took 10 minutes to put together. The flower colors weren't even coordinated, the cake just looked cheap. When I picked up the cake, they didn't even put it in a box that fit. The lid had to remain open. The lady I picked it up from said it needed to ""air out."" What was this, a jacket? I would have done better to get a cake from the grocery store. I wrote a letter of complaint but got no response. more

the best,hands down. 9/27/2005
