Great Place For Computer Parts Locally 12/4/2009

In regard to all the bad reviews for EBC Computers; please try to understand that many of the "disgruntled customers" will exaggerate and claim that they are underhanded in their business practice, and will even declare themselves to be the victim of the whole situation. They are only splitting hairs by doing this. Take note that any intelligent consumer puts forth the effort to understand where they are coming from as a business, and accepts the result of their actions. Attitude. It plays an integral part in business. As the saying goes, "you can't attract bees with a jar of vinegar; you need a jar of honey". My point being is that you need to respect the policies of the merchant (even if you don't agree with them). The only way they're going to respect the "loyal" customer, is by reasonably standing by their policies. Every single customer that feels in the slightest displeased, is going to want to have an exception made for them. Because they feel they are "loyal" and deserve it. If a business makes an exception for everyone, then it's not a policy anymore. So really, the only way to fully resolve the issue is for both parties to compromise and come to an agreement. Now, as far as online vendors go: Newegg, TigerDirect, ZipZoomFly are all great places to shop; but the one thing they all have in common is that they're all online. That can become a big problem and believe me, things can go far south when you have to send something back. Sometimes things don't arrive on time due to shipping damage. Other times they won't accept an RMA at all, because it was deemed there wasn't enough padding around the product. Other times you have to call, and wait on the telephone for minutes before they will finally speak with you, and then you can't understand a word they're saying. Just acknowledge that EBC Computers is a local store with justified local prices. That you can at least speak with someone who will explain to you the ins-and-outs of the policies for the product(s) your purchasing, and even give you technical advice, in person. Something that online vendors are unable to do, regardless of how respectable they are. Honestly, EBC Computers is still in business because they are doing something right. They may not be as large as other chains but they're still around. Many of you may think they're making a fortune off of "ripping" people off; but you can guarantee they're pinching pennies just like everyone else. There's a reason why ripped, torn etc. merchandise has a restocking fee, it's unfair to them to not charge otherwise. I'm not trying to convey that they are above everyone else, they're human and they make mistakes like the rest of us. It's when you give someone a second chance, that they are able to redeem themselves and sincerely learn from it. All-in-all, it creates a better atmosphere for everyone when everything works itself out in the end. In the past, I too have been upset with them; but at the end of the day, when all the chips fall into place. You come to a better understanding of their reasoning and way of doing things. I'm sure all of you understand that it is just as easy to have a good experience, as it is to have a bad one. So there you have it. This review is just my personal opinion so take it for what it's worth. Pros: Low prices Cons: Too many negative reviews out there more

Disappointed at best 6/9/2004

My experience at EBC Computers was a disaster. There is no way I could describe the experience in less than 150 words. I baught one of EBC's computers and I had nothing but trouble with it. When I attempted to get support for the system it was like pulling teeth to get them to work on it. The entire process was one big mess. From Sales, to repair, to service, it was all one big headache after another. more
