NOT always friendly towards KIDS 10/13/2010

Good: Extra friendly with customers who actually need repairs or are looking for something in particular. Friendly with them, and adults.. Bad: Is it normal for a mom to be afraid of taking her calm and well behaved 4 year old because of the grumpy guys who work there? Barely greet you. Feels like we are bothering them. Don't always want to turn on display trains because as we were told today they had been interrupted from repair work too much! What?. Improvements: If they don't want kids hanging out remove the Thomas display. Have a schedule for the display train if you don't have time to deal with customers who request to see it in motion.. Other: Hope the friendliness factor improves. I've bought a couple of items in past but now avoid the place because I don't want to feel intimidated buy staff. Explain that to a four year old.. more

Whimsical train shop 8/18/2005

My family and I love to go to this shop because of their imaginative displays and products. What I like most of all about this shop is there is plenty to keep my husband occupied with the grown up model supplies and whatnot, and there are also plenty of toddler-sized toys (Thomas the Train). I can also wander around the store being amazed at all of the train products. The parking is easy - there is a lot right there (although weekends are extra busy, as it's near the downtown waterfront area of Kirkland). more

nice place for train nuts 8/16/2005

This place is a heaven for train nuts of all ages. Lots of good quality models to choose from. They have a running layout in the store. They also carry some railroad magazines, books, wall signs and pins. The exterior of the store is shaped like a train depot. Parking is easy in this kirkland store as they have their own lot. more

Just off I-405 lies a replica of an old railroad station appropriately dedicated to model railroading. You name the gauge, they've got it--G, HO, N, O, S, and Z--in both older...
