Before coming to Volunteers of America Eastland Care Center, Sara was living fine independently. Unfortunately Sara, like many others who live alone, fell, which limited her ability to care for herself. Sara lost the use of her right hand and arm. She felt devastated when trying to do basic stuff —simple things like tying your shoes, dressing, even standing up. Sara was with our therapy department for just a short time as she worked hard with our excellent therapists. Sara believes her life is so much better now that she has the ability to use her arm again. Sara is home now and doing all the things she was doing before her fall. Sara told us before she returned home that without Volunteers of America Eastland Care Center, “.. this would not of even been possible, you all took care of all my needs in every way. My nurses were the sweetest things; they must have been really sweet gals...”. Thank you Sara for allowing us into your life!
