East Wind Restaurant

After many years of passing by this place on my way to work, I finally paid a visit a couple weeks ago. In short, this place is my new favorite restaurant. The food, the service, and the professional ambiance was perfectly in tune with the quality uptown dallas eludes. This upscale asian eatery managed to bring asian food with a western twist in a very memorable manner. I ordered the grilled salmon, while my friend ordered the lemongrass pork, both dishes were flavorful and unique in its own right. The staff is kind and attentative, and the restaurant owner personally assures comfort and quality service. I have been there only 3 times (although, it was all in last 2 weeks), and the owner, Kim, greets me as if we've been life long friends. Being a business consultant, I meet many clients over lunch, and I finally found the restaurant that meets my standards. Great restaurant. more

We have been regulars at East Wind for over 4 years. Although they changed ownership in the summer of 2008, the kitchen staff remained intact. The extensive menu and food is the same excellent quality although the service, while improving, has been a bit spotty. The calamari appetizer is tasty without being too chewy. My favorite entree is the salmon with a sweet glaze and is always very fresh. We are seasons ticket holders at Theatre Three next door and always enjoy eating at East Wind before going to the Theatre. East Wind is now under new management, and after a decade of regular visits to East Wind, we had our first bad experience this past week. While they still keep the East Wind name, new management apparently refuses to honor previous commitments made under the old management. We won a $100 gift certificate at the Margarita Ball auction last November, and new management refused to honor it. I would assume that when they bought East Wind, and kept the name, that they purchased the liabilities along with the assets. New management needs to honor these, otherwise they have lost several good customers. more

This is the only dish I've ever ordered from East Wind. Try it with the ""fish sauce."" It's better than it sounds. more
