Chinese snacks galore 3/29/2006

Dynasty has a huge selection of Asian goods, and in addition to those, Dynasty also sells those things that people normally find in supermarkets: veggies, cereal, jell-o, chips, etc. I love going to Dynasty because they always have a wide variety of all the snacks I love: lychee jelly, mochi ice-cream, dried cuttlefish, black current gummies, etc. (trust me, I can go on for quite a while). They also sell fresh fish by the front of the store and there is a sushi bar. The sushi is usually fresh and you can see them rolling it in front of your eyes. Although Dynasty is not the cheapest Asian market in Chinatown, it's the biggest. more

Bustling Asian Supermarket 10/13/2005

This supermarket is a bit off the beaten path but it is larger and has a bigger selection than Kam Man on Canal Street and you will see many locals shopping here too. Prices are about the same, maybe a bit cheaper on some items. They carry a wide range of Chinese products - lots of different sauces and spices, canned bamboo shoots and other Oriental fruits and vegies, fresh produce, dumplings, Chinese candies etc etc. more

food!! 10/6/2005

Located on the corner of Hester and Elizabeth Street, Dynasty Supermarket offers a variety of asian food. They have selections of cookies, noodles, spices, drinks, etc., anything that you would associate with Northern Asia. The supermarket even have a sushi bar towards the front of the store. Though sometime they are good if you watch the sushi chef make them. Other than that, you really dont know how long it has been sitting there, which might not be a healthy thing. The supermarket is usually quite pack with customers both inside and outside, but its possible for you to find what you are looking for. more

very convenient 8/26/2005

Dynasty Supermarket is very convenient. You can find everything you need there for a good price. Although they have a must tie bags policy, it is for their interest. At times the place is a bit dirty, but all in all, it is still organized. There's a produce section, drinks section, candy and cookies section, canned goods section, etc. The people who work at the cash register are friendly, too. The lines are never too long, so it's a quick check out. more

Find all your ingredients in one stop! 8/19/2005

Dynasty Supermarket specializes in asian food and ingredients. If you need a certain ingredient for a special dish, this is the place to find it. Located inside are live fish tanks, crabs, shrimps, clams and lobsters. If this is not unique enough, there is also a full staffed sushi bar where fresh sushi is bad by the hour. Near the refrigerated section, there is asian vegetables that you will not find in your average supermarket like Pathmark. While you are there, look out for any sample tasting table of dumplings and new products. more

The supermarket of choice for locals 8/18/2005

The supermarket of choice for most locals, this supermarket has it all. Two sushi chefs continually roll fresh sushi as you walk into the supermarket, a cell phone import stand on your left sporting all the coolest add-ons for any phone, a jewelry store and herbal store further back to accomodate the older crowd. These are all conveniences, but the customer come for fresh seafood and meats. With daily shipments of seafood and meats, you'll find locals lining up around the block to get the freshest fish and cuts of meat. You'll also notice that most of the prices are at least half of what you'll normally find in an American supermarket so you'll generally see one or two caucasians sneaking in a purchase. Nothing to be ashamed about, come by if you are looking to eat fresh! more

Great Place for grroceries 8/18/2005

Great place for Asian groceries. If you like Hong Kong Supermarket, then you'll like this place as well. It is a smaller version of Hong Kong Supermarket but still holds enough products to satisfy every need. If you like imported asian foods, then this is the place to be. The prices actually seem slightly lower than most stores. I mean their canned sodas are 0.50 cents, how often do you encounter that price in New York City? more

one stop 8/17/2005

Dynasty is a giant one-stop grocery store in New York Chinatown. You can find most daily necessities you need at incredibly low prices. It also has a large selection of Asian tea bags and snacks. It even offers over-the-counter medicine, jewelry, items for worshipping ancestors, and fish that is still swimming. more

One stop shop for Asian food 8/16/2005

Dynasty is a huge supermarket located in Chinatown that serves the surrounding Asian population and even some from further away. They has a huge variety of Asian foods that you may not even have heard of. Their prices are more than reasonable. I have been going to buy food for a couple of years now. You can find a variety of Asian sauces and noodles that many Asian families use at home. So if you want to create an authentic Asian meal, this is the place to get your supplies. more

Cheap 8/14/2005

This supermarket is probably the most well known supermarket in Chinatown. Everything is reasonably priced. I usually stock up on drinks since it's way cheaper there. They also have a great sushi "bar". There's a lot of asian candy, which is great since you can't get them anywhere else. What is also great is that if you buy a lot of things that day, sometimes they will throw in something for free like a gift or reward. more

Huge Asian Grocery 8/5/2005

Dynasty Supermarket is one of the biggest Asian supermarkets in Manhattan. Now, granted, there are obviously bigger Asian supermarkets in the outer boroughs, but given how cramped everything is in Manhattan and especially Chinatown, the range and variety of products at Dynasty is pretty good. As with any Asian supermarket, there's a fresh seafood and meats counter that is generally superior in price and variety to that at 'western' supermarkets. I suppose you might be a bit wary about cleanliness and so on, but the way I look at it, the difference between Asian and "Western" supermarkets is this. The Asian markets are quite happy to let their vaguely unhygenic practices continue in full view of the customers, whereas the "Western" ones can be just as unclean, but put up a pretty good show of pretending to be spic and span. So it's up to you really. This is a good one-stop shop for Asian, and particularly Chinese, groceries and products. Recommended if you're in Chinatown Manhattan. more
