P M., 07/30/2015Edit\r I don't know how this daycare got a five star rating. They must be rating themselves. I can't even give this daycare one star. This daycare has been around for years. My older children went there when it was at it's best. Several of my friends and family members had their children in here as well. It use to be highly recommended by teachers from local elementary schools. However, since the WONDERFUL Ms. Angie left as director, the owners have put their daughter, and what appears to be her best friend, in charge as directors. Needless to say, my child is no longer at this facility, nor do I recommend this daycare anymore. The teachers have been instructed to not talk to the parents about incidents, the directors want to do that themselves. However the "directors" really have no clue what is going on. They are hardly ever there. They come in late, take 2-3 hour lunches, and leave early. And all this going on while full-time teachers only get to eat lunch while the c more

Needless to say, my child is no longer at this facility, nor do I recommend this daycare anymore. The teachers have been instructed to not talk to the parents about incidents, the directors want to do that themselves. However the ""directors"" really have no clue what is going on. They are hardly ever there. They come in late, take 2-3 hour lunches, and leave early. And all this going on while full-time teachers only get to eat lunch while the children are napping. This daycare ""appears"" to be clean. However, look closer....layers of dust, disgusting buildup on places where little hands go (like under lunch tables). The children aren't fed properly either. I've dropped my child off and saw toddlers with ONE chicken nugget. And don't get me started on their teacher turn over rate. HIGH teacher turn over rate. The ""directors"" mistreat their employees, over work them, put them in classes with too many children, don't give them appropriate breaks, bounce good, dependable, teachers around like trash. And all of this abuse so that the ""directors"" can come in late, take 2 hours lunches, and leave early. The business side of this daycare seems great. The curriculum of this daycare is exceptional....however the ""directors"" don't follow up on the teachers actually using the set curriculum. I can't tell you how many times I've walked past the toddler room and heard ""no, don't, stop, quit""....no redirection, just negative words. more

WHAT A GREAT PRE-K 7/31/2012

GREAT REPORT - GREAT PRESCHOOL I was very hesitant when I began working because I was going to have to put my son in childcare after being a stay at home mom with him for 2 and a half years. I had previously worked at another center and was unimpressed to say the least. However, when I found Dunkin Academy my mind was instantly set at easel. This is not just a childcare; it has a wonderful preschool/PreK program. I have been able to get progress reports, pictures, and even tips on what I can work on at home to reinforce what he has been learning in school. My husband and I are extremely pleased with our decision and could not have asked for a more caring staff and kid friendly environment. Three of the staff is certified educators in early childhood education and that seems to me to be the difference. more

High staff turn over. 5/17/2011

The turnover rate of care providers is high. In a six month period there were atleast 6 people that came and went just in my Childs room. As soon as my child would bond with someone they would leave. Babies need structure and people they can trust and know their routine. I felt she was not getting that with the instability of the care providers. I understand it is a hard job and you have to be a special person to do it, not just a warm body to fill in. more

GREAT SCHOOL! 11/1/2010

I have to agree w/ all the good reviews. I love Dunkin academy! I have had to take my nephew there off an on and they are always so accommedating. I am always surprised at some of the things hes learned that just pop up out of no where. Like SPANISH. I had no clue, not to mention he has computer skills at 3 yrs old. Its a great school, very clean and sweet staff and a wonderful director. My only pet peeve would be the play ground--he looks like hes been rolling in a dirt mound after school but I chop it up to good playtime. This schools a definite 5 star! more

Great Learning Program 9/30/2010

Excellent care for our child who turns 7 this month. He and his two classmates that also attended the preschool program at Dunkin A. have been at the top of their class in Kindergarten and now first grade. more

Mom 3/24/2010

My son, now 21 years old attended Dunkin from age 4 -10. Now my 7 year old goes there. The school director has been there for 30+ years. The Dunkin's are the owners. Great school. Affordable and has a very good staff. more

GREAT PLACE FOR EXCEPTIOONAL CHILDREN 8/5/2009

This is a great place for children and a great learning environment. My three have been there since they were 2 years old. The oldest is now in the 1st grade and tops in his class. I credit Dunkin Academy for his success in school. Each child, with the help of parents, will be ready for kindergarten when kindergarten is ready for them. Our next-door neighbors have their 4 year old there and are very pleased. Pros: TEACHERS ARE KIND AND LOVING Cons: THERE ISN'T ONE IN FRISCO more

VERY VERY GOOD CHRISTIAN ACADEMY DAY SCHOOL 1/8/2009

Dunkin is a very good school. My daughter learned alot from that school. She was 6 wks old when she started and i loved the baby room teachers. (MS. LUPE, MS. BECKY) Tthen she went to the toddler room. That room is very high pace but the teachers were wonderful. ( MS. MEKA, MS. AMANDA). If my daughter was not in school and if we did not move away she would still attend dunkin. I would like to give a big thanks to Ms. Angie, she is a very very respcetful, wonderful ,outgoing person. she keeps that place going. I would recommend dunkin academy school to all my friends. more

A great place for children 9/22/2008

My two children are enrolled at Dunkin Academy and I could not be happier with their care. I am a classroom teacher in the Mesquite ISD and spent many hours investigating the centers in the Mesquite area looking for a place where my children would receive the best care while being immersed in a quality learning environment.\r I teach 1st grade and usually have several children that have been through the preschool program at Dunkin Academy in my class. These children are always well prepared and ready to learn. I give the Dunkin Academy the grade of A for the work they do with my children and those that come through my classes. more

100% satified 2/27/2008

When I was looking for a day school for my daughter we went to several in a matter of a week. As soon as we walked in we were comfortable. I loved the idea of the classes moving every thirty minutes and the lunches being rotated every three weeks. The kids get a feel for the schedule but don't get bored. My daughter has learned and grown so much in the last 7 months. She bursts out of the classroom every day eager to share her work and tell us all about her classmates and what her teacher said that day. I actually like to see her come out of the school with a bit of playground on her. I know she's been playing hard and at the rate society is changing away ffrom physical activity, I love knowing that Dunkin Academy has left that in their schedule. My hat goes off to each one of the staff there, they come in everyday ready to work and I know that they are there to love and teach the children. more

Wonderful School! 2/3/2008

This is a wonderful learning environment for any child. Their curriculum is one of the best in the Dallas area, helping the children to gain knowledge before entering kindergarten. It is a small school but I have found that it is very cozy and clean. As a child I went there and thought it was HUGE. I now send my two children and they love it! I have experience working with "State" and know that they have certain requirements to be met. One of those are the types of rocks on the playground. Dunkin Academy can not be faulted for that. If my children come home dirty I know they had fun!! more

Not the same 9/28/2007

My daughter attended Dunkin Academy 2 years ago when she was 3yrs to 5yrs, I absolutely loved it. Before choosing Dunkin, I of course shopped around and I did not like any of the other day cares in the area. The other day cares are much like child care, I needed more than just a place were my daughter can be watched by an adult. Dunkin Academy offered a very good learning system. My daughter learned a lot of beautiful church songs and prayers to share with our family and they also helped her to become more confident with her numbers, colors etc. I find that their curriculum is by far one of the best in the area. The food they serve the kids is also healthy and they keep the multipurpose room very clean and disinfected since they use it as a cafeteria, gym and naptime area. One thing that I really loved was the events they had the kids participate on and their plays to share with our families. ? \r On the other side, I have to admit that I did not like the playground. The type of grave more

reliable for daycare, no problems for years 8/5/2006

I have sent my kids to Dunkin Academy before they started kindergarden for years and have had no problems. Even with the recent scare with negligent day cares, I've never been afraid of any such things with this daycare center. The facilities are nice and well-kept. The staff appears to be well-trained and loving. more
