This Animal Shelter Makes Me Feel Secure! 2/2/2006

Almost seven years ago, I bought my cat from Denver Dumb Friends; he was on display in one of the cages in the front of Petsmart, and even though I preferred a kitten, I completely fell in love with him. Several years later, he went missing for a short time; while I was looking for him, one of the places I contacted was Denver Dumb Friends. They were incredibly helpful in assisting me with my search, filing a lost report and allowing me to look through the cats they had there. After I found my cat (he was trapped in a neighbor’s apartment while they went on vacation), they injected him with a microchip so that he would be on record if he got lost again. The assistance that Denver Dumb Friends provided makes me feel like I’d have a decent chance of getting my cats back if they were lost. more

Pet adoption center 8/26/2005

The most impressive thing about the Dumb Friend's League was the variety of animals that they have. I'm used to animal shelters having dogs and cats. They have dogs, cats, gerbils, rabbits, I think they even had a snake when we were there once, not sure. I didn't think the staff was too nice, but they probably get a lot of people who just come to look at the animals with no intention of adopting them, so I can over look it. They have so many dogs and cats, if you're thinking of getting an animal please consider adoption. more

Lots of Pets for Adoption 8/21/2005

We've adopted here, and returned lost animals here. Its a big facility with lots of animals and they have a comprehensive process for adoption. Some might not like how thorough this is, but they try to ensure that their pets are adopted by qualified guardians. Stop by before you buy a pet elsewhere, because there are many available here for a small adminstrative fee. more

Shelter for Lost or Abandoned Pets 8/19/2005

The Dumb Friends League of Denver, has been caring for lost or abandoned animals for over ninety years, and is a non-profit organization that welcomes all animals into its shelter. If you are looking for a pet, skip the pet shop, forget the pedigree and get a dog or cat with a personality. Rescue a lost animal today and give them a warm loving home. The reason for the name is from the book, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. She writes, “We call them dumb animals…for they cannot tell us how they feel, but they do not suffer less because they have no words.” The Dumb Friends League has two locations. One is located in East Denver and one is in Castle Rock. So, go get a pet today and give an animal hope. more

I got my best friend here 7/20/2005

When I was looking for a dog several years ago, I visited every shelter in Boulder, and another one in Denver before coming to the Dumb Friends League. Sure, he could've been picked up and taken to any shelter, but the folks at this one seemed especially caring and knowledgeable. The only reason they're not getting five stars is because they told us they would be visiting in the future to check up on him, but they never did. I'm kind of disappointed, because I'd like them to what a happy, healthy doggy this once starving stray has become. more
