Best

We had lunch there yesterday and sat outside with some friends who were in from Phoenix. It was truly fabulous. The food was awesome, the service was outstanding and I must ...

Worst

The food has always been as expected but the service can be horrible at times especially if you come in for their happy hour. A friend and I sat down at the bar in front of the TW...

Good not great 7/18/2006

I hadn't been to Dukes in a long time and went there this evening for drinks and what ended up being dinner. We had appetizers--small portions with big price tags. The quality was down from the last time I had been there (a few years or so) and the service was average. (Our 50-50 split payment was processed incorrectly, and we didn't have particularly attentive staff.) The drinks were fabulous--great summer Mohitos on the deck in Greenlake. Maybe the entrees are better than the apps? more

I love Duke's! 5/4/2006

I only get one thing - the cajun chicken chowder in a bread bowl. I love the idea of clam chowder, but sadly hate clams, so this is perfect for me! They are right on the water and very dependable. Just great food! OK, great chicken chowder, that is. more

Duke's is King. 4/10/2006

I have to agree with the other reviews that say that the menu here isn't "different" or "exciting" - but I'll add the caveat that it doesn't have to be! Duke's knows what it does well and they have it down to an art. This is the place to go for the best chowder and fish and chips in Seattle, hands down. Can't be beat! When you feel like Seattle comfort food, head to Duke's. more

Good food with great deals 3/2/2006

Duke's Chowder House has the highest quality fish and chips I have ever had. I highly recommend the Halibut ones, even though they cost more. The best way to do Duke's is to go to their website and sign up for their email list. You automatically get a "buy one get one free coupon" *and* and free dinner on your birthday (that does not even require a purchase!). They also have half-price appetizers at their happy hours and reasonably-priced drinks. more

Good food, many locations 9/15/2005

Dukes has very good food. They also have many locations so its most likely that you will find one near you. Duke is a very generous guy. If you sign up for his email list, he will give you a free chowder. If you sign up for his birthday list, he will send you a coupon for a free meal at his restaurant. If you refer a friend to sign up for his email newsletter, you will get another free meal on him. I think its worth it. They have wonderful seafood, the clams are delicious. Check out the website. more

Great chowder on the docks 8/28/2005

Duke's Chower House is one of my favourite restaurants in Seattle. Located on Lake Union in Chandler's Cove, there are places to park for people coming by car of by boat. I usually go when the other shops are closed, but Duke's is always worth the trip for its delicious food and live music. They also have a full bar if you would like a good drink. Try their chowder sampler to discover your all time favourite. more

Chowder Done Good 8/26/2005

Too yummy for words, Duke's makes a phenomenal Crab and Bourbon chowder. You will wanna like your bowl. Yes, its that delish! I happened upon this spot when I first arrived in Seattle. Don't let the tiny digs fool you. It's amazing! What a treat for the busy urban profesh who wants to slow down for a bit. Or anyone who just wants a bowl of fantastically comforting soup. more

Duke's Chowder House 8/21/2005

I do have to agree with the previous reviewer that the menu isn't all that unusual, but I do think it's very good. It's one of my favourite summer pass-times to sit in the outdoor area with a friend sipping iced-tea and eating crab and bourbon chowder with a big spinach salad. I also really like the hot crab sandwich. I've always loved the story about how Duke's offered the cast of "Frasier" a free lunch. I don't know if it was true, or if any of the cast ever took them up on it! more

Great Happy Hour 8/17/2005

Not the cheapest Happy Hour in town, but the food is worth it. Everything on the Happy Hour food menu is $3.95, including Duke's Famous Chowder. The best deal is the Steamers, clams steamed in Mac & Jack African Amber Ale. FYI-I recently saw the bartender mixing up a pitcher of beer for the steamers and it is actually 1/2 Coors Light and 1/2 Mac & Jack. Happy hour beers are $2.75 and interesting cocktails are around $4. more

Not too good, not too bad 7/28/2005

I'm not saying it's the best or even close to it. However, your question reminded me of Dukes for some reason... Dukes is a fine place for a bite if you go in with modest expectations. The menu hasn't changed in years and that's fine for those of us with predictable tastes. The Caesar Salad is pretty good particularly when it's topped with salmon. The chowder is good as well. I'm not saying Dukes is the best at anything but it's certainly not the worst. So when you don't feel too adventurous and you have a hankering for seafood prepared simply then give Dukes a try. more
