Best

I heard a lot about the Dosha Northwest location, so I thought I'd check it out.. It was time for a haircut, so I made an appointment with a Junior Stylist. Then brought me upsta...

Worst

Got my hair cut at Dosha a few days ago for the first time. Just want to warn others that it's so uninteresting and basic, I should've just gone to a Supercuts or something like ...

Depends on the Day 8/25/2010

Third time to Dosha for a massage (received gift certificate each time)... first two visits were fabulous. My last visit was rushed and the therapist's mind was occupied with other business than providing me with a massage. Felt cold and unengaged. Space is a touch cramped overall and, for a man, it really does not feel very welcoming with the fragrance of all the nail polish and hair products. more

Gift Certificate 5/6/2010

Dosha gift certicate expire! That is so dump. I was told by a friend that compaies can not do that. more

Warning: Shockingly Bad Service 2/10/2010

Beware! Unethical management. They will NEVER give you a refund, but there was no sign or notice about it at the time of sale or on the written receipt. The worst...take your business anywhere else! more

Go elsewhere!! Even Super Cuts!!! 9/27/2009

So I signed their consent paper @ Bridgeport. I was to get highlights & the girl fried my hair! I have dark hair & I wanted an all over light brown color. She was to bleached & tone it to achieve the color. Well, she left the bleach on too long & then she didn't tone long enough, so my hair was gray & green when she dried it! I told her my concern & she & her coworkers tried to convince me it was a 'natural/neutral' color. I thought maybe it was the lighting, so I paid & rescheduled another day where she could tone it more b/c she was 'too busy' to do it right there. Later that day my BF told me my hair was horrible & that it was in fact a gray color! My hair was healthy before going & now I had split ends everywhere!! I went the following day for them to fix it & they acted like it was my requested color. They fixed it, but didn’t return my money. Then I told them to cut off what Britney had fried & they charged me half price for the cut!! All I wanted was an even cut which my BF could’ve done at home! I was so mad!! Even the lady who retoned me said it was grey! I will NEVER go there again. THEY SHOULDN’T CHARGE YOU TO FIX THEIR MISTAKES! They gave me a VIP card...yeah like that will fix my hair. more

BEYOND HORRIBLE Customer Service 12/2/2008

I had a terrible cut and color at Dosha. I called back to have it redone and went back a second time. The second time, I only had the color done and it came out worse than the first time. I had no idea it was terrible until someone told me the back of my head was orange. I don't like to spend a lot of time checking myself out in the mirror so I had no idea. I went to another salon to have it fixed at great expense. Dosha will not do anything to rectify the situation. No refund, no 'sorry', no nothing. So I' more

Mixed experience 9/17/2007

Dosha Hawthorne is a funny place. I live in the neighborhood, and visit for services several times yearly, since they opened. Location is convenient, but the rush-rush atmosphere downstairs is not so nice. Jets usually broken on the hot tub, which you pay for as part of a massage. The massage/facial therapists & hairstylists have always been lovely people with a healing touch. The pedicures have been mixed - there were a couple of nutcases on the pedicure staff for awhile who would spout their own vehement political views during the service - not relaxing. But the main issue is the management/counter staff. They are overall snooty & suspicious, acting like they're doing you a big favor by letting you visit their spa. The cashiers/greeters have an in-your-face sort of style. They seem haughty & snippy to me, compared to the more caring licensed staff. I brought my 76-yr old mother for a treat one time, and the 20-something young woman at the counter addressed my mom by her first name. Yikes! No manners! Also the therapists/stylists do seem to know the product line quite well (I use the products & enjoy them) but the mgt/cashier staff apparently does not receive the same product training? Very rapid staff turnover in all positions. I am told by former workers that Dosha mistreats its hourly staff, cutting schedules to make workers ineligible for insurance. However, all in all, the individual treatments have been lovely. more

DOSHA - Hawthorne / Consumers beware! 1/4/2007

Consumers beware. However pleasant my massage, manicure, pedicure and the providing staff may have been at Dosha-Hawthorne, my experience was completely ruined by the negative encounter with salon management staff that followed. I would strongly advise that you purchase Aveda products elsewhere where there may be some concern by management that you actually receive all of the products that you have paid for. If you choose to take the risk, be certain you check your bag for all of your products before leaving or you may be out of luck entirely. When you return with your receipt after calling ahead and told there would not be a problem, you will be forced to wait over 15 minutes while the manager carries on lengthy conversations in front of you & does not bother to acknowledge your presence or mention they will be with you shortly. You will then be treated in a cold, rude and condescending manner while the manager looks you up and down with disdain and suspicion and informs you there is "nothing she can do" about the product you are missing. The manager will not bother to check with others working, check inventory of the product you are missing or confirm that you called to report the situation the moment you got home. Nor will the Dosha "Customer Satisfaction" representative bother to return your repeated messages. What a lovely finale to the $430.00 + dollars you have just dropped in their spa treating yourself and 2 friends to massages, manicures, pedicures and products. So much for stress-relief - you can be certain that you will not find it here. You will also be out another $23.00 to re-purchase your Aveda product again elsewhere. There are far too many other spas in Portland that are actually concerned about customer service and satisfaction to waste any of your valuable time and money at Dosha. Needless to say as a result of this experience I have chosen not to give Dosha massage/ pedicure gift certificates this Christmas as I had last. I have also chosen never do business with or recommend Dosha again to family, friends, neighbors or colleagues regardless of their close proximity to our Mt Tabor Park neighborhood. more

The wife says perfect. 12/31/2005

I purchased a Dosha Gift Certificate for my wife for Christmas and they even delivered it to our front door. Now that's service! She said she had a wonderful time, and that they treated her like a queen compared to other places she has received massages. I would say they are perfect too, I still can't get over the delivery of the gift certificate, but I enjoyed my wifes mood after her massage too. more

If you love to be pampered, this is your place! 9/24/2005

I have been to Dosha several times, usually for a massage, and I have always had a wonderfully relaxing experience. The atmosphere here is very calm, very serene. You are escorted up in the elevator for your beauty appt, given a fluffy robe and sandals if you are getting a massage and a shower room of your own to change in. You get to pick the oils used in your massage and I love the scents that Aveda offers. After the massage, you can sit in the steam room and then take a warm relaxing shower. The prices are not cheap, but reasonable for an upscale spa experience. Every time has been great and I look forward to going back. more

Amazing Spa And Salon! 9/9/2005

I loved my Dosha experience! I received fun gift certificates and had a great time relaxing in their amazing atmosphere! I have gotten a wonderful pedicure, brow wax, hair cut and lip wax. The staff is very knowledgable and referred me to some great products they carry as well. If you want to pamper yourself or someone you care about - this is it! more

Find your Aveda here 8/16/2005

Dosha has it all, from massage to hair to face. They have strived to be the place you go for everything, all with that Aveda touch. I have gotten pretty good haircuts with good styling advice, and a nice prenatal massage. The environment could seem a little austere if you prefer a smaller, cozier kind of beautification experience, but it could also feel serene and pampering if you prefer a little anonymity. A haircut includes a scalp massage and a shampoo with Aveda's intoxicatingly herbal products. If you put yourself on their e-mail list, you will occasionally get a great deal on their services. You can also buy professional grade flat irons that are usually not available to unlicensed gals. more

What a great atmosphere for a hair cut! 8/11/2005

I have been to Dosha numerous times to get my hair cut. They are friendly and very good at what they do. All of the stylists have gone through beauty school and they know what they are doing. They even give you a cup of peppermint licorice tea to drink while you are waiting. The experiences I have had have been more than friendly and I would go back again for sure! more

SERENE 8/3/2005

I went to many salons while in beauty school. Dosha is known for there relaxing serene atmosphere. A great place for things like massages and pedicures. The stylists they have working here are proffessional and know what there doing. Defiantly must check it out! My favorite is there hot stone therapy more

This is the place to go to get spoiled 8/2/2005

The atmosphere here is so serene. There is soothing music playing to set your mind at ease. It's a three story business. The first story is make-up and reception, the second is the day spa and the third is a hair salon. I think this set up is perfect for the day spa. The buzz of people coming in and hair dryers are avoided on the second floor. It's private and the staff is friendly and each individual is great at his/her job. It's a bit on the spendy side so it's great for that extra special treat. more
