Best

I just got my haircut by a woman named Nancy who did an amazing job. Not only did she communicate with me and get to know my needs and what sort of style I wanted, she showed me...

Worst

I went to Dop Dop about 6 mos. ago and got a really blah, really unflattering haircut. I have very thick, very puffy, quite frizzy hair that tends to curl... It's easy to straigt...

i'm so pleased! 5/18/2005

i never review but i just had to shout out to the world and say i got the BEST haircut i've ever had at dop dop today. cesar is a hair god; he really listened to what i wanted, he suited the haircut to my style, and was so so sweet. my roommate and i love this salon and, especially, cesar. it was totally worth the big bucks, which, comparitavely, aren't so big. Pros: skilled staff Cons: a little pricey more

Welcoming, positive, fabulous! 6/19/2004

I have been a Dop Dop client for two years now, and I look forward to my appointments because I am always well-treated, even pampered! The reception staff greets me by name and the assitants are welcoming and quick to offer refreshments. The salon runs efficiently and I've never had to wait. I often see the stylists/colorists giving new clients consultations, and notice how they are exited and interested in their work. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention how AMAZING my hair looks, the color and cut rocks, and it is the healthiest it has ever been. Dop Dop is a wonderful salon, and the energy there is very positive and friendly. Pros: Well-run, lovely space, talented staff more

Warm, Welcoming, Wonderful 6/11/2004

I found Dop Dop through a friend's recommendation and I have had only wonderful experiences there. The reception staff is friendly, professional and polite. The folks who wash my hair give a great scalp massage every time. I am always offered a beverage and rarely wait more than a few minutes (if that) before I am brought to my hairdresser's chair. And my hair! I get compliments all the time - on the cut, the color, and how healthy, shiny and full it looks. The energy of the salon is great too - fun, relaxed and welcoming. more

Ray Is The Best!! 5/28/2003

I was recommended to Dop Dop by a friend of mine who had their hair cut by Ray and i went there and first of all the salon is awesome, the reception staff are so friendly and great and the staff are realy nice. I had never felt so pampered in my life i had the best shampoo ever!!! Ray the handsome British haircutter gave me an amazing new do and people always stop me on the street to ask where i had my hair done! He is great and the price is well worth it!! Pros: Great space, innovative work, friendly and relaxing more

don't be fooled! 12/7/2002

i went to dop dop last week, based entirely on the ratings in citysearch--think twice before you do the same! i had my hair highlighted, and it was the worst job i've ever had-it looks awful and unnatural. i now have to go somewhere else to have it corrected. Pros: nice space, nice stylists Cons: unskilled stylists more

Not innovative. Staff unfriendly. Not a value. I was really unhappy. more

Hair with Helick 8/15/2002

I've had a difficult time with color and highlights over the years, but have but been very satisfied with the single process and highlights that Helick has done. His haircuts are great, and he's fast enough that you don't have to spend an entire afternoon sitting in the chair. The whole experience tends to be low-maintenance, which I really like. The staff is friendly too which is always a plus. It's not cheap, but I've had poor quality work done for the same price or more, so overall it's a good value for NYC. Pros: High quality work, Friendly Staff more

great great great 8/8/2002

I think it all has to do with the beautiful energy of Jo Blackwell - owner and super colorist. Everyone there is pleasant. Cons: the stairs more

Wonderful 7/15/2002

Great place. I have been going for a few years and now won't go anywhere else. Great for color and cut. Tonya is great. more
