Don's Grass & Landscape

I don't even want to give them 1 star. I was told by them that 6 cubic yrds of decoomposed granite would cover 1900 sq ft 1 inch deep. I order 6 cubic yrds even though I only actually needed 1750 sq ft of coverage. I was hoping I could use the extra to fill in some low spots. It did not even come close to being 1 inch thick and I had to go to Lowes and buy more decopmposed granite to finish covering what was still exposed and I was only able to cover a 1/2 inch, not the full 1 inch I asked for. more

Very Bad pallet of GRASS about 135 pieces all torn and broken,said it was cut the day before (no way) it was at least a week old possibly older.I was talked into it by the loader against my better judgement, dryed out, broken,and dead never again...BEWARE more

Very poor service. Picked up pallet of Bermuda grass. Almost dead. About 1/4 of the pieces were torn or broken. Lady at desk said should be 150 pieces per pallet. Only 140 pieces. I told her I thought pallet looked low. She compared it to St. Augustine Grass. I told her I was not talking about St. Augustine grass, but the actual Bermuda grass on the pallet that was being loaded. Against my better judgement, I took pallet....and regretted it very much. For quality grass, go to King Ranch Turf down the street on US 290 West. It is true...you get what you pay for at Don's Grass. Pay less...get less. Don's grass used to have good service and pretty decent products when he was on Brodie Lane...but this is the second time in the past year that I got an inferior product. Thanks for reading. more

Thanks for the tips, needed 9 pallets of St. Augustine for my yard. Went to Don's Grass to check out the grass before ordering. The grass looked great and they had the best prices.So I had Don's Grass install it two days later. Sales people told me to water grass well for next 2-3 weeks for best rooting results. Yard looks great!! Thanks Don's keep up the good work. Pros: Best Prices and Great Grass!! more

M husband is a professional landscaper and was working a job that purchased 5 pallets of sod from the Don's Grass in Marble Falls (this was yesterday (04/23/10). When it was delivered it was all so dead that it couldn't be picked up, it was a pile of chunks of dirt with dead grass attached. When Don's was called the woman that answered was VERY rude about the situation and didn't understand why a professional landscaper wouldn't accept subpar grass for a lawn he was installing. After several phone calls and finally agreeing to send someone out, a Don's rep came out to see the pile of what they called grass. Even he was shocked. They sent new grass today (04/24/10) but the fact that a grass company would let that type of (beyond dead) grass go out is ridiculous, and then to provide such horrible customer service made it even worse. In this economy, customer service is even more important. Hopefully losing our business to another company will teach them that. Pros: They're cheap.... for a reason... Cons: From this experience? EVERYthing! more

Don's Grass and Landscape in Austin, Texas ripped me off twice on the same deal. I bought two pallets of grass sod. I took them home and immediately planted them out. There were exactly eight dead squares burried in the middle of each pallet of grass. Obviously, they had a whole pallet of dead grass and split the dead squares amongst fresh ones to cut back their loss. They figured customers would not complain about a few dead grass squares. When I reported it and requested replacements, they told me it was natural that a few squares would die inside the bundle and they do not guarantee all squares will be OK. They also blamed me claiming I must not have watered them properly. Horse manure! To make matters worse, I sent my worker back with the empty pallets to get my deposit back. He was told he needed a yellow piece of paper that was never given when the grass was originally picked up. I have also been cheated on my pallet deposit. I suggest anyone wanting an honest business that sells grass to stay as far away from this company as possible. They are coniving cheats and do not care a bit about repeat business. They will get as much as they can from you on the first stop. Pros: I have nothing positive to say about this company Cons: They care little about return customers. more

I took my pre-k class to their pumpkin patch and maze... The children talked about it for weeks.. There's a talking jack-o-lantern and the staff is very kid oriented... Running through the maze was great and we came back with some nice pictures of the kids in the maze and with the pumpkins... Thank you, Don's Grass for a great day! more

I called Don's Grass for some information on pallets of sod for my backyard. The saleslady was extremely helpful and courteous. She took the time to answer all of my questions and was very knowledgeable about the different types of sod they sold and what would work best in my situation. After I placed my order the sod was delivered by a polite, friendly, and helpful driver. I am more than satisfied with my sod and the staff at Don's Grass. I look forward to doing business with them again. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to plant sod in their yard. Pros: Excellent Customer Service/ Beautiful Sod Cons: NONE!!! more

They delivered me DEAD grass! My professional landscaper refused to use it to sod my yard, even after he was the one who recommended them, and the Don's ?daughter was super RUDE and unprofessional responding to our concern. I WOULD NEVER EVER buy grass from them! All sales FINAL too. What a ripoff! This mom and pop shop better learn to mind their manners! I introduced my landscaper to better business as well!
