Wonderful shop with amazing pet food/toys/everything! 6/7/2011

My wife and I have had our Vizsla for 5 years and have been battling her wimpy digestive system the entire time. Food brand after food brand we had trouble with her. Then last year we bought a new puppy, and my first thought was the food. I was bound and determined to get them both something healthy and helpful. Which brings me to The Dog's Meow. The first time we went in we were immediately greeted by the owners (As well as the softest Golden Retriever in the world!). We let them know our situation, and instead of pointing us to the "Sensitive stomach" section as other major pet food stores would, they showed us a multitude of options for our dogs and described the pros and cons for each. I had done my research before and had many questions for them, and they answered (and EXPLAINED) every one. They helped me find something that would be good for our adult dog as well as our puppy, and then a plan to bring the two together when he was old enough. I couldn't have asked for anything better! They also have a great toy section. Our cute little puppy has now become a giant ball of trouble, and we couldn't keep toys for longer than a couple days before he put them into the ground. These guys have all sorts of fun toys for him to play with, and they last!!! I love the Alien octopus Tuff toy. And I know you can buy the Tuff brand pretty much anywhere, but Dog's Meow has the best selection hands down. Believe me, I've looked! I'm not a big review writer, but I feel like I need to voice my opinion on this one. I have had nothing but friendly service every time I go into the Dog's Meow. I've never left the store feeling like I wasn't helped. If anything, they help me too much because I end up buying more than I should! :) It also seems a little coincidental that the two negative reviews for Dog's Meow also give rave reviews for Ma and Paw's. I've been in that store many times too, and I do like it, but not enough to take my business from Dog's Meow (And I live a block away from M&P's). Thank you girls for being one of the best shops in the city! This puppy family is forever grateful! more

Horrible Customer Service 3/30/2011

When I got my dog a little over a year ago I immediently looked for the best to feed my new puppy. I read many reviews and wanted to try a certain brand of dog food but found it difficult to locate. On that particular brand of food I entered in the zip code to see if there was a store in my area. I found The Dog's Meow and it was actually only less then 5 minutes away from my house. I decided to go over there to get some food and try it for my new puppy. Everytime I go in there I fill judged. The customer service is horrible and I fill like if I ask a simple question they act put out and don't want to help. I also fill like they are watching you and if you don't hurry up and buy something they act annoyed like they would rather not wait on customers. It had been a few months since I have been in there because I have been avoiding this place like the plague. I started ordering everything online..I decided to give them the benifit of the doubt and was hoping things changed and they might be more customer friendly and helpful. I decided to go in quickly and I so REGET giving them my time or my money. Neither one of the girls wanted to help and both sat at the front with a sour expression on their face. I left feeling frustrated and discusted. I refuse to go back. Not to mention I won't be recommending this place to anyone. Because I was ordering everything online,I didn't know where else to go.. Then I came across Ma and Paw's Bakery and will never change. They offer EXCELLENT customer service and are WILLING to answer questions about anything and everything. They also have a great new location! The great thing I like about Ma and Paw's Bakery is if there is a particular brand or flavor they will set up a special order for you..I am sure The Dog's Meow would, but I am sure they would act annoyed doing so. Bottom line Stay away from The Dog's Meow it's not fun to be treated this way, maybe they should learn to treat people with respect instead of sticking their noses in the air. more

Hard to Earn Loyal loving customer 3/22/2010

When we got our puppy, a friend gave us a bag of Zukes treats. Very few shops carry these, but our dog was in love. And so were we. In searching to find the stores that carry them, I found The Dog's Meow. A week or two later, I was looking for a new food for my picky eater puppy who has a grain allergy, and won't touch the lamb product that the big lines offer for their puppy food. The gal in the shop was so great. She gave me free samples of about 5 different kinds of food. I took them home to puppy and came back the next day to buy the food. I'll be a loyal shopper to Dog's Meow as long as we have dogs, which we plan to be forever. Pros: Carry Great Products and Have Great Staff Cons: Location more

Natural Dog Food 9/2/2009

I found this store out of need when I moved here 9 years ago. My dog was used to eating healthy and natural and this store carrys and cares. The owner is always willing to help me with supplements, herbs and even began to carry toys and items for small dogs. They seem to keep up with the changes in pet nutrition and carry all the latest cool "stuff." I am extremely happy and so grateful for the Dog's Meow. Pros: knowledgeable staff - treats more

Not very nice. 8/18/2009

I wanted to switch my dog to something higher quality and it was recommended I try this store. I was hoping to get a little direction or advice on the brands they carry. Unfortunately the staff was dismissive of my questions, didn't bother actually showing me the product (I got a finger point in the general direction), and was generally too busy eyeing me up and down and talking with each other to actually help me. I just got a bad vibe from them all around. I also couldn't find prices on anything and when I inquired it was like I was asking a major favor. I ended up leaving empty handed. I've since discovered Ma and Paws Bakery - wow, what a difference! They were totally nice and helpful, my pup is now eating great food and I don't feel like I'm getting the stink eye when I go in. Pros: Good selection of quality food Cons: Staff was rude, no prices on produce or shelves. more

This place saved our lives!!! 8/3/2009

This is a great place to shop for your pets, if you are looking for a more natural high quality diet for your dogs. They are very knowledgeable about each one of the foods that they carry. The girls behind the counter have actually steered me away from a couple of items I wanted to try for my dog when they found out what health issues ( and there is a big list) my dog is going through. From renal disease to IBD to Allergies to everything, they have helped us set up a meal plan that has helped my poor pup maintain a decent energetic lifestyle. Thanks guys!!! Pros: Very knowledgeable about the products they carry. Cons: A bit of a drive out from Bountiful, but totally worth it. more

Fantastic Stock and Knowledgeable Employees 7/29/2009

I have a dog with intestinal issues and these ladies were happy to help me sort out a diet that would keep him happy and healthy. They are always willing to answer any questions I have and will help compare products when trying to decide which will be best for any of my personal pets. They are also willing to special order products as well. Without a doubt, this is my favorite pet supply store. Pros: knowledgeable, will special order, nice stock more
