An only "ok" bar in Shadyside. 8/16/2005

This bar on Walnut St. in Shadyside is up a flight of stairs from the street. Everything about this bar is ordinary: the beer selection, the bar-type food, the 20-30 something patrons. As most Walnut St. bars, Doc’s is usually filled with young professional yuppies on weekend nights and is a fairly quiet scene (no excessively loud music). The only thing that makes Doc’s a nice choice is the outdoor patio – great on warm summer nights for a drink with friends. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
A large, square bar takes up most of the space on the first floor, but leaves some room for tables and booths between its stained-glass windows and wood-paneled walls.

    Who's There
The crowd is diverse, with upscale locals rubbing shoulders and bending elbows with restaurant workers and college students.

    Where's the Beef (From)?
While Doc's is mostly known for serving drinks, it also serves food. Its Reuben sandwich uses the same bread and corned beef as the one made famous by its former neighbor, the Gazebo.
