favorite brunch spot 2/10/2011

I love Dizzy;s and I admit I am a fan. For lunch or dinner I'm addicted to their house salad, with field greens goat cheese, raisins and pine nuts and the house dressing is so amazing I buy it by the quart. The brunch is a mix of good hearty food and Park slope chic, like Eggs-bene-diz. Count on it being crowded and plan to have an hour of waiting time. It's worth it - great selection, home made mini muffins and fresh squeezed OJ. more

Great Hole in the Wall Brunch 5/23/2010

Everything on the menu is very good. You will just have to wait a long time to get a seat. Pros: All around good food Cons: Long Wait more

so sad... 12/30/2008

I was standing on line at CVS tonight, when I overheard a couple talking..."" Did you hear, Julie is leaving Dizzy's""? I immediatly turned my head and engaged in their conversation. If you never met Julie, you have missed out. She has worked there for many years and has made me coffee and has ALWAYS made me laugh. I hear she is persuring a career which is amazing, she deserves so much more than apologing on why they don't have sip tops on their coffee lids. Cons: no more morning girl. more

Dizzy's is by no means an upscale diner, but it's expensive. However, the food, service, and atmosphere are worth the price. On a Saturday or Sunday morning this place is packed, and by packed, I mean that there's a line of people waiting inside and groups waiting outside. The diner has great ambience, amusing art, and wonderful waitresses. The day after I went to Dizzy's for the first time, I immediately came back the next morning. Breakfast & Brunch are truly their strong suits; I strongly recommend the belgian waffles and eggs. more

Long Wait, Bad Service, Mediocre Food 9/19/2008

We have lived in Park Slope for 2 years and we have given Dizzy's four chances at impressing us. So far, no good. The things I expect from a place like this are as follows: somewhat friendly service; good eggs; clean; fast. This place has had none of those. Unfortunately, there is always a huge line here since Park Slope lacks decent brunch restaurants, and we are all desperate. Second, once you do sit, the tables are packed and everyone is glaring at your while you eat because everyone around you is waiting. Third, they have grumpy wait staff, and they were grumpy with my kid. Fourth, the eggs I ordered were mediocre and the food was not so great and rather bland. From now on, we will stick with Prosperity Diner where we always get a table, it's always clean, we get fed fast and the staff appreciates our business. more

Terrific local restaurant 2/18/2008

I've been a regular customer and fan of Dizzy's since they opened on my block those many years ago. I have an addiction to their ruben sandwich which I occasional offset with their yummy turkey club. The cranberry sauce makes this a standout. I also love the huevos rancheros for brunch - I have no idea if it would be considered authentic, but it sure is a tasty dish with the vegetarian chili. I don't eat it so often since my daughter arrived and waiting among the crowds for their popular brunch period is no longer an option. At less busy times, my 2-year old is a huge fan of the mac & cheese and especially the warm, very engaged attention she receives. The staff members are always patient with families. This place really acts as a neighborhood meeting spot with its good food and personable service and I feel very fortunate to have it so close to home. Pros: Neigborly service Cons: Very busy for brunch more

great hash 2/13/2008

We looked forward to Dizzy's opening back in the day, often travel from Eastern Parkway to eat there, had them provide food for a couple of family events, and although the crowds keep us away sometimes, we find the people friendly, the food great. Of course, in a neighborhood place like that, the service isn't always super fast and sometimes I suppose they make math errors. Once, we had a birthday dinner there and I forgot to tip the guy. He gently let me know, which I was really glad for and we made it up to him. Pros: food, homey, friendly Cons: sometimes too crowded to wait for more

Good food cooked well 2/13/2008

I love this place, in the 10 years I've been eating there I've not had a bad meal. I love the counter staff & the waitstaff, they spend time making sure our visit is a good one & are really patient with my young daughter. The corned beef hash is the real thing & the Mexican eggs are to die for. Classics like the Rubin & Meatloaf are staples in my diet. They get really busy for brunch so i prefer to go at the quieter times in the early evening. Pros: Great food great service. Outside seating Cons: It needs to be bigger more

Still Delicious and Our Nieghborhood Goto Place 2/13/2008

I was flipping through some of my favorite neighborhood places and thought I should write something down about this little place. We consistantly find the food to be delicious and worth every cent. It is one of those places that we can be sure we will get a good to great meal each time we go. And we have gone A LOT. Pros: Consistantly good after all those years Cons: Could have better wines but love the beers more

BIGGOT OF PARK SLOPE 12/27/2007

i HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER OF THIS RESTAURANT FOR OVER 5 YEARS .SERVICE IN THE LAST 6 YEARS HAS BEEN SO GOOD AND FRIENDLY AND IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS THIS RESTAURANT HAS PROGRESSIVLY GONE DOWN HILL. NOW THERE IS THE A M COUNTER PERSON WHOM WHICH FOR THE LAST YEAR I FOUND TO BE SOCIALLY ENEPT NOW TO ONLY FIND OUT THAT AS I WAS IN THE RESTAURANT SHE CALL A GENTLE MAN WHO WAS SUPPOSIDLY THE MANAGER THE (n) WORD. ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT SHE CONTINOUSE TO WORK THERE. HOW DARE THE OWNERS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ALLOW SUCH A PERSON TO WORK WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN SUCH A DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOOD AND TO SAY THAT ANY WHERE YOU GO A PERSONE LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WORK IN A SERVICE BUSINESS OF ANY KIND. PLEASE IN OUT OF RESPECT OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE SUPPORTED YOU FOR THESE YEARS AND FREQUENTED YOUR ESTABLISHMENT WQITH ALL THE GOOD AND BAD CHANGES THIS ONE TAKE THE CAKE AND PARK SLOPE SHOULD COMPLETLY BOYCOT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND LET THEM KNOW EVEN IF THEY HAVE LOCATION LOCATION IT MIGHT NOT LAST FOREVER AND I THINK THEY OWE THIS MAN AN APOLIGY AND SHOULD FIRE THE GIRL WHO HAD THE ORDASITY TO SAY SUCH A THING IN PULBLIC OR EVEN THINK IT. Pros: ONE TIME MAYBE Cons: NEVER AGAIN more

Watch Out, you pay more than what you really get 12/14/2007

If you go there, please CHECK YOUR BILL. It's often (2 out of 3) wrong - they add easily some dollars. The service is not good, and regarding the food, you can find better. Pros: Nothing Cons: Service, Billing, Food more

Bigot 12/4/2007

Ive been coming to dizzy's for the las 3 years and i really love it. theire mac and chees is to die for! and i like the staff as well...but a few days ago i heard through the grapevine that the day time counter woman the one the the shaved head came in to dizzy's and started insulting a black staff member with the N word. Pros: great food Cons: bigot counter person more

Worst Service 9/29/2007

I was a regular customer of Dizzy's for the three and a half years I've been living in Park Slope. Then today I just went in to get a cup of coffee. I was completely ignored. I was the only one standing at the register. All I wanted was a cup of coffee. The cashier was in a long winded conversation with one of the wait staff. He smiled at me and said hi, and then simply went on with his conversation. So I walked out. I guess I will have to find a new coffee place. Such a shame that such a wonderful neighborhood lets a place like this go on. Pros: nothing Cons: rude staff more

Pretty good, but not all that 7/17/2007

Waiting for a Sunday brunch table, I felt like I was back in LA. Not sure if it was the weather, the decor, or clientel. Probably a bit of each. I really felt like this was a an LA restaurant los feliz or melrose. I'm not saying that's a bad thing or good, just a vibe. more
