I lived in Germany for a while, and used to complain when I got to America that the sausage and ham here simply wasn't up to par. Well, since I discovered Dittmer's a few years ago I have been completely silenced!
Dittmer's is a family run butcher shop. The owner is often there and will give you recipes and tips. Their ham (get it thin sliced) is sublime and they make all their own sausages and smoke their own bacon. I recently made pea soup with their smoked ham hocks and it was fantastic.
