Dion's South Hair Design

Last week, I went to Dion's for the first time. I was recommended, by one of my colleagues from college! Let me tell you, im soooo glad she did! My stylist Kristen was sweet as can be and I was not only privileged but blown away that, they are styling hair for PARIS FASHION WEEK! I mean come on...what girl doesn't DREAM of a week in paris...not to mention they get to be behind the stage with the models, styling their hair. I jokingly begged her to bring me with her! Anyways, I couldn't be more in love with my hair and recommending ALL of my friends not only to Kristen but the THE salon of Franklin!! more

Dion's has been my salon for 7 years now!!! I love everything about it... You walk in and immediately you are invited by the cheerful and gracious front desk gals. Then you sit down in the chair and feel like you're at your home away from home...I have gone to a few stylists now (just to try out the different levels) and they all have always gone above and beyond my expectations. All the stylists are always smiling and very personable...not to mention talented! I brought my grandmother in to get a shampoo/blowdry and she was tickled to death by the gal who did her hair..she said she felt 30 again!! I know ive typed a novel but Dion's is so worth it!!!! One of my favorite things about Dion's is the Location!!! Downtown Franklin is like a mid turn of the century storybook in real life! Absolutely LOVED coming into Dion's yesterday. I live about an hour away but let me tell you... It was WELL worth the drive! I was recommended to Richard Dion by an old friend from high school who has been going to Richard for many years now! I was hooked the minute I walked in the door...everyone was so friendly and Richard gave me the best haircut of my LIFE!!! I am one happy gal and found my salon home!! more

Dions South is awesome!! I have been getting my hair done there for the past year and i could not be happier .I attended other salons in the past, but none of them seemed to make me satisfied .Im so happy that i found Dion's. Its so convenient being right on main street in downtown Franklin. Soon as you walk in you will be amazed by how elegant and pretty the atmosphere is . Just by sitting and watching all the stylists interact with their clients ,i know everyone does a fantastic job. Furthermore, the owner RIchard Dion is so nice! \r I went to Richard at Dion's South for several years, then changed to another salon to find a lower price. I tried several well-known and recommended salons, but was never totally satisfied. I have been back with Richard for some time now and could not be happier! I constantly get compliments on my cut and color. more

Richard is WORTH the DRIVE! And I have a very long drive! I moved to Virginia a little over a year ago and twice tried a self proclaimed master stylist. And since the disasterous attempts, I have been driving 1350 miles round trip to have THE MASTER color,cut,high-light, trim & style. He has seen me through my long phase and short, my blonde &red phases, and now is covering my few sprouting grays. AND HE NAILED THEM ALL!!!! From now until they have to drive me here like Miss Daisy, I won't let anyone else touch my hair but RIchard at Dion's South! more

Richard Dion is amazing at what he does! I went from a boring regular haircut to an amazing stylish short cut. I have never received so many compliments on my hair before. I feel like a celebrity! I love that they are located in the heart of downtown Franklin and they have been there for so many years. It's such a great vibe. Any one new in town or looking for a different salon I strongly recommend going to Dion's South. more

I recently had my hair ruined here by the owner! My new stylist said that it will take three months to correct my cut and a year to correct my color! Color was put all over my hair instead of just the roots. They use L'oreal Inoa hair color which is one of the worst hair colors for your hair. Very drying and does not look natural! ~ The only reason to share my experience is to help others not to go through what I have been through. I have to deal with messed up hair every day now until the cut and color grows out! more

Save yourself the time, there are plenty of other places that have a less pretentious staff. Someone didn't teach their front desk staff manners, then to continue on after waiting for an undesclosed ammount of time (which seems like they were over booking in order to make money because of their name?!?) wow. I can't even waste my time on this review anymore they aren't even worth the time. more

I waited for 30 minutes, even though I had an appointment. Then they chopped my hair. It is horrible. The hair and the experience. more

I used Dion's South due to their 'excellent' reviews. I went to get my hair cut and colored the week before my wedding. I also scheduled my hair to be styled the day of my wedding. The lady that cut my hair gapped the left side tremendoulsly, and tried to cover it up with styling. Also she dyed the front of my hair incorrectly. Once I pointed this out, she said, ""Sorry, I don't have the time to fix this problem. You will need to make another appointment. I have customers waiting, and I have already spent too much time with your hair."" She spent two hours trying to dye my hair. It is not my problem if she is slow. I did not realize the gap at the time due to the styling. I did go to another salon that evening to get my hair dyed correctly. Having to pay full price yet again. I did keep my hair apointment for my wedding day. It was far too late to find another stylist on that short of notice. The next day I walked into Dion's to address the gap in my hair. Richard fixed the cut himself, and agreed it was cut incorrectly. He had no idea why it was cut this way, and so badly. Greatfully he did not charge me for the hair cut he did for me. I must say the person that styled my hair did an excellent job. After having to redue it twice, and me fixing part of it as well. This appointment was only supposed to last an hour. It actually lasted 2.5 hours making me late for getting dressed and pictures. It is not appropriate for a bride to be crying while getting her hair fixed for her wedding. The stylist working on my hair was polite, but all the gossiping going on in the background that was overheard was uncalled for! I will never forget this horrible experiecne on what should have been the happiest week of my life. It has been a couple of years since I had the experience listed above. But my anniversary is coming up, and I get mad every time I look at my wedding pictures. Expecially the ones that the photographer caught me crying in. Thanks a lot Dion's South! more

Moved to Franklin a few months ago and finding a hairstylist was a priority of mine. I'm truly picky about my hair because of my job. So, when I walked into Dion's, I was a bit nervous! I went with a senior stylist because of this reason, and I was BLOWN AWAY! Everybody there made me feel so comfortable and important from the moment I walked into the door to the time I got to my car. My hair turned out awesome and I really couldn't be happier. I would suggest this place to anyone who is trying to find a great stylist and a great atmosphere! Pros: relaxing, professional, and fun! Cons: nothing! more

I had finally decided it was time to invest a bit more and go to a nice place to get a decent hair cut. However, being a little bit fiscally conservative, I thought I would go with an intern stylist. She was a very nice young lady, but timid -- and the lack of confidence was apparent in the end result. Most surprising (and disappointing) -- is that their sign out on the street, stated the intern price was $20 for a men's cut, yet I was charged $25. Making matters worse, my credit card revealed a $30 charge, even though I only tipped 2.50. When I called about this, I was told, ""Oh yeah, we've been meaning to change that sign""...and was given an excuse about how their credit card company charges work. Never got an apology, nothing...and by the way, I could have gotten the same cut at a Super Cuts. MEN: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I am new in the area and called to make an appointment for a consultation for Dion's advertised hair extensions. I was greeted with a ""Dion's. Hold please,"" and after waiting two minutes was again placed on hold to ""see if we still do that stuff."" I was insulted by their rude and unprofessional staff. I hung up and will NEVER call back. I am a very picky person when it comes to my hair. I have been stylist hopping for the past few years trying to find that perfect salon...well I finally found it. I have been to Dion's 3 times and have been extremely satisfied each time. Their staff is wonderful, their ambiance is just what a salon should be, and their stylists are very talented. I used to get my hair cut at Salon FX until my stylist moved to FL about 5 years ago. I then decided to try a stylist at Dion's South (I lived in Franklin at the time) and really loved my stylist and the salon was much less pretentious than Salon FX. I have been having Val cut and highlight my hair for the past 2 years and have been very happy! She's talented and she listens to what *I* want to do with my hair. The staff at Dion's is friendly and unpretentious. They usually are well-stocked with the hair products that they recommend too. At times they have jewelry and accessories that a local artist has made and is selling. It's always fun to see what they are selling while my hair is processing. Parking can be tricky on Saturday afternoons so try to get there a little early. more

I am a very discerning customer when it comes to hair salons and stylists. I've been a client at Dion's South for over 15 years, and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The salon is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and Richard is a fabulous and talented stylist, both with cut and color. I wouldn't trust anyone else to touch my hair.
