I had a riot with a group of 10 women in the deserted restaurant late Thursday afternoon in February. The tenor of Dick's is such that kids acting up would not phase anyone. How...

Best Sports Bar 6/9/2011

Love this sports bar. Good for the young and the old. more

Meh. What do you expect from a chain? 3/21/2011

Great fun if you're a frat boy or sorority chick. I've been to the original in San Antonio, the second one in San Diego and they're all the same. Go for the party, stay for the abuse. more

Attitude of Staff 2/28/2011

Great location and understood the staff are trying to be rude with the customers but it was over the top. The waitress told us ""What do think this place is about? It's in the name, Dicks is all about the sucking"" after suggesting my allergies sucked and they couldn't accommodate them. They wrote 'whore' and 'slut' on the paper hats of two women there, and the vulgar, base humour did not stop. We paid for our drinks and left. The owner & bartender seemed decent and funny, but some of his wait staff were beyond funny...just vulgar and rude. I didn't find it funny at all. more

great spot hidden but thats the fun part. 11/15/2010

Fun place greeeat salmon. great view! a little pricey but Ill live. more

Went way too far. 8/18/2010

I went there with my few best friends and were only 15 so it seemed really fun and my friend said it was great, but as soon as we got there and the waiter began taking our drinks he asked my friend what'd he liked to drink, since he was supposed to be rude he kept acting like he didn't hear him so the waiter said ""you act like a slapped your mom"" not being funny, no one laughed, especially after my friends mom had just DIED 6 months before we came, their attitudes aren't funny and they just need to know where the lines is and to not cross it, i will never go there again, i almost cried for my friend i felt terrible. it ruined the whole day and even worse was a waste of money. for 6 ppl the total was over $100. DONT EVER GO THERE. YOU'LL REGRET IT. believe me coming from a 15 year old, i would like places like this but not even ill go back there again. IT WAS STUPID AND A WASTE OF TIME. more

Waste of money 6/9/2010

with service that bad and an attitude that poor of the waitstaff. I have to admit I did enjoy being rude back but the food was so bad my daughter had to ride home with a bag to barf in!! absolutely terrible. the next sad thing is that she was the one who recommended it. more

If you like to party, go to Dick's 12/31/2009

Dick's is a really fun place to go, especially when you know what to expect. The staff as as rude or as tame/entertaining as you want them to be. They are really funny and do not put the silly hat on peoples heads unless prompted to. The food comes is large portions and the menu is huge. Lunch is served quickly and is only $5.99 for specific sandwiches, fries and a drink on the weekdays. Cant be beat! Pros: fast lunch, good food, fun atmosphere, reasonable prices Cons: not everyone loves the concept more

just awful 10/23/2009

the only suckers who go there are suburbanites and tourists.the service is awful (ditto the food) and the place is dirty.if only the waitstaff was only have to go once. Cons: awful service more

Good food, great fun!!! 10/5/2009

Had a great ""girl's night out."" Great food, Great service and very unique atmosphere. Pros: Good fun atmosphere more

Hate this place!!! 8/17/2009

We went to eat at DLR because our teenage daughters wanted to go after a concert...knowing full well what it was about. I still hated it. The food was ok but the place was dirty and smelled like sewer - the Chicago River!!! Also, there was one guy that literally walked by and pushed my friend's head forward. I wanted to say something to the manager but our kids (being teenagers) did not want us to say something for fear of being singled out. In my book hitting someone is uncalled for and battery!!! To this day it makes me mad that I didn't say something. I get the rude, poor attitude gimmick but purposely hitting or putting your hands on someone is uncalled for. I do plan on contacting the manager and reporting this incident. My friend is too nice to do so - but I am not. I would never go there again because of this incident. My suggestion to anyone that wants to go there - go only if you can take the punishment they give and like so-so food. Really too bad they took it one step to far. The gimmick is different and unusual but the pushing someone's head forward is not acceptable!!! Pros: Food was ok - gimmick different Cons: Smells, staff puts their hands on you, sticky tables more

This place is HORRIBLE! honestly. 7/15/2009

It was my first time visiting Chicago, I absolutely didn't know about this ""rude service thing"" I was absolutely amazed!!! Of course i would NEVER tip somebody whose mean and arrogant. This place is a joke seriously. I didn't eat at all, from the beginning this person started being a completely dumb*** I stood up and left the restaurant. I can't believe being a dumb*** is today's great thing and suppousely funny. Can't believe it. Pros: the view Cons: didn't find it FUNNY. more

Moved to Marina City 7/13/2009

Bad food, lousy service, insultingly bad attititude! just the place to take unaware guests to more

Fun place 12/10/2008

Fun place for bachelorattes. It was so much fun to be dropped off by the limo and get picked up after fun fun.........................the empire of chicago bars.restaurants more

A Great Disappointment! 5/10/2008

I was there for lunch with a bunch of friends for my friend's birthday. One of my friends had recommended the restaurant and I was so excited about how the waiters and waitresses were going to treat him, knowing the restaurant's unique reputation. Even though I expected to get rude and hilarious service, I did not expect to get almost no service at all! I have never had a more uncomfortable lunch before and it was my friend's birthday! I am embarrassed to have picked the restaurant! Pros: waterfront dining, near a movie theater Cons: service is based on how much food you order more

You'll love it 3/27/2008

we were in a hotel in downtown chiacgo and didnt have reservations to any restuarant and then we looked through the restuarant book and saw this. We werent expecting some fancy dinner. somewhere casual. we were with another family. they had three kids and we had two. we knew the whole staff no manners thing. which made it twice as funny. they had live entertainment. My daughter had a great time she screamed along so the whole place could here. we laughed . it was a great way to end a vacation. if you have no sense of humor dont go. but if u do go for suree Pros: it's a great time overall Cons: they swear alot. so if you censor dont bring kids more

awful 2/2/2008

I've been to a lot of bars. This place is dirty. That's why it smells funny. That's why the bars and tables are sticky. How hard is it to take pride in your business? Can someone clean the bathroom already? The beers are way overpriced. And I had no interest in food preparation from a staff who keeps their place scummy. Can we at least wipe down the bars? And what's with the ""rude"" thing? Is it supposed to be fuunny? Well, it's also funny when I don't tip yer azz 'cause all I wanted was some customer service. This place is a joke. If you want to spend the time and money to go to a bar, then go to a real business- not this playground. I would not recommend this place. It's stupid. more

The good, the bad, the stupid reviewers. 11/28/2007

The biggest problem with DLR are the first time patrons that do not have a clue what the place is about. We have been there many times and had a geat time. It can get a little rude from time to time but the waitstaff does a good job on figuring out how your group is to be treated. We have been there with our grandkids and they have been very helpfull. Other times we where there as an adult group, drinking and dancing and they treated us rudely and it was fantastic! We enjoy all types of places and the Last Resort is a fun place with better than average food. Pros: Close to everything and above average bar food. Cons: Can be boring at times, depending on the crowd. more

Attitude, sarcasm, fun, Profanity & personal insult, unacceptable. 4/23/2007

I went to Dick's on Sunday, 4/22/07 for lunch. I was with 3 friends, and one of the girl's 16 year old daughter. I suggested we eat there because my last dining experience at the outside cafe there was fun. I had never gone into the restaurant. We didn't know it was ""buffet only"" before 1pm. The Beatles band was great, and the buffet was pretty good, although not exceptional. There was a wide selection. The dessert table was completely separate from the buffet, (on the way to the bathrooms-?!) We would have never known it was there if one of us didn't go to the bathroom, however, by then, we were no longer hungry, and were on our way out. more

Horrible service 11/17/2006

I've been to Dick's twice now and both times we've had horrible service. I know that the waitstaff is expected to be rude--sort of like Ed Debevics, but our waitress was too rude and too slow. Last time, we got our table and waited half an hour before our waitress even appeared. Then we sat another twenty minutes before our drinks came and then waited over an hour before we got any food (even apps). It was busy but you would expect the kitchens to be able to turn out food faster, or our waitress to take care of our party of 8 (ordering lots of expensive drinks) a little bit better. Pros: atmosphere is fun, portions were big Cons: service was slow more

Owner Message

  • The massive appeal of Dick's is hard to put your finger on. We don't know if it's the wacky tacky decor, the sometimes sassy service, or the bountiful buckets of fabulous food. We do know the food's hot, the beer's cold and if the music's too loud you're...
