I couldn't believe how bad a doctor's visit could be until my family went to Dr. Perez. She made my daughter break down into tears, and if that wasn't enough, tried to give my kids flu shots 4 times in one visit - AFTER my wife clearly told her we didn't want them.\r \r Even after that she took the liberty of checking in the forms HERSELF and had a nurse come in with the shots - attempt 5 in one visit.\r \r Skip this doctor. more

Save your baby and Never see this doctor!!!! 5/10/2012

Dr. Burford is SO MEAN! I took my baby to see her when she was only 5 days old for the newborn visit. She was so tough on babies! My baby was very uncomfortable and cried so hard when she checked her eyes VERY TOUGHLY. And she insisted that my baby s visit was a sick visit so we had to pay more!! My baby was totally fine, only except that we ASKED a question about her hips. We now switched to Dr. Ky, and he is super nice to us and to our baby. more


This Medical Center has the WORST customer service. Today, I made a call to schedule an appointment for my son of 8 year old. I was transferred to Appoint , the a Lady answered, didn't say her name but said: ""please can you hold?"", not waiting for my answer, I was on hold. For three minutes then someone said: how can I help you? (no name provided either) I did tell her my child name and DOB, and she asked, when you want to come? I said anytime after next Monday, 08/08/11. The lady said, ""ok, wait.. waiting for 3 more minutes.. Another attendant, said: ""how I can help you"", I though was the nurse, I said I want to make an appointm... she said: okay, hold please.. even if you don't believe it, someone after 6 minutes, came to the line and said : ""yes, how I can help you""?.. this was upseting me, I said: well I was in the line already 21 minutes and you are not able to help me, I want to make an appointment for my son, but you constantly put me on hold..SHE said: "" OK, sorry, HOLD ON PLEASE"", yeah this one said PLEASE, but happyness ended when after 3 more minutes waiting for her, she DISCONNECTED the call. YES, I COULDN'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT !! more

Waited for 3 hours and finally left without treatment 2/1/2011

I just waited for 3 hours at the Centennial Hills locationg of Desert Valley Pediatrics. My son was and still is very ill. Upon arrival, I explained to the girl at the front desk that my son was very ill and needed to be seen sooner than his appointment time. She said she would try. We waited for almost three hours, and no effort was made whatsoever to try and get my son in for treatment. I have been taking my children to DVP for over 10 years. The office staff IS RUDE, and made no effort to help us out. I will never take my children to DVP again, and will tell every person that I know about my horrible experience. We finally left without seeing a doctor. Shame on you office staff at Desert Valley Pediatrics! Your office should be closed down! more

Not Worth the Wait.... 1/17/2011

We are fairly new to Las Vegas. For what ever reason, my 2 yr old has been having a rattling chest for about 3-4 months. We have been going to Dr. Nyarko ever since we noticed it. He asks my husband and I EVERY TIME we are there who has asthma and who has allergies....NO ONE!!!! If we didn't have them last time we were there, why would we have them now? And why would we lie about it when we are trying to take care of our son? He put our son on breathing treatments on Nov 5, and he'd still be on them except we took our son to another doctor and got another opinion. We took our son in one day b/c he was sick-they said 4:00. We were there at 3:45. We didn't even get called back until 5:30, and we didn't get to leave until after 6. I went up at 5pm and asked how much longer b/c we'd been there for an hour...the front office lady said there was a 3:45 and a 3:50 still in front of us-WHY WOULD YOU SCHEDULE STUFF IN 5 MINUTES INCREMENTS?????? Dr. Nyarko is okay-nothing spectacular and he had my son on breathing treatments for no reason for 2 months until we took him to another doctor. The office staff is rude and unprofessional and no one apologizes for wasting your time. Don't bother w/ this place! more

Dr KY is wonderful and treats people with true care 9/23/2010

I just have to say, I agree that the office needs some re training as far as customer service and treating patients with respect especially when it comes to the BUSINESS aspect of the practice (INSURANCE and Billing). but... it is worth it for us to over look those office type details. Dr. Ky has been such a wonderful Dr. to my son. We go for care and quality care is what my son gets. I feel like in so many practices the doctors' see so many patients that they forget who your child is or they treat you like just another person without a soul or feelings. I typically DO NOT TRUST doctors but.... I find it easy to trust that what Dr. Ky tells me is genuine and offers very good advice! Dr. Ky has shown care and concern for my son. He has a wonderful calm spirit about him but is very informative and direct. He takes the time to actually LISTEN and has never made me feel like he was trying to rush me out to see the next patient. I do have to say that the nurses are awesome, kind and friendly and I have ALWAYS been seen ON TIME at the Centennial location! That is HUGE! I remember waiting upwards of 1 hour at the location in Summerlin. That said, I feel that the GOOD positive qualities of this practice totally out weigh the bad. My son is happy with Dr. Ky and that is what matters the most. more

Dr. Greenspon is the best!!!! 8/17/2010

I have been taking my boys to DVP for years. I don't know if I would still be going if it wasn't for Dr. Greenspon. When I go see any other dr. the wait can be up to 2 hours for a scheduled appointment. Dr. Greenspon is ALWAYS on time. I would have given DVP 5 stars but the office staff makes that difficult. I have a problem with staff that will turn someone away for a balance less then $100. They don't send out bills on time so you never know if you have a balance or not. My son went in April for a sick appointment. I never received a bill until I made an appointment 4 months later. I received my bill just days before my scheduled appointment. The office staff is rude and cares only about themselves. Like I said if I didn't like the doctor so much I would be gone. more

We've been going to Desert Valley Pediatrics (Dr. Nyarko, Centennial Hills location) since my son was born, he is now 2 1/2. The wait is often over 2 hours. The receptionist was super rude about how we owe $70.00..( I DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEA THAT I OWED $70) The way she spoke, one would have thought it was $7000.00. The wait is bad enough, especially when you have a sick child, but to have a receptionist be so rude is completely unacceptable! I will not be going back!!! Pros: Good Doctor's Cons: LONG WAIT TIME & RUDE RECEPTIONIST!!! more

Chilren Refused Treatment due to an Outstanding Balance 10/26/2009

My children have been patients of DVP for over 7 years. I have 5 children. My youngest is specail needs with cerebral palsy and a very rare condition called XXYY Syndrome. He has been hospitalized multiple times for respiratory issues. He has had a high fever and difficulty breathing all weekend. We have been in contact with the nurse line and treating flu like symptoms at home all weekend. This morning in the middle of a national health crisis my children were refused treatment because of an outstanding balance of $100. In these tough economic times we are struggling to feed our children but do still carry insurance. I am disgusted and horrified that this is the standard practice of this office. My children are sick and in need of medical care. Dr. Perez today REFUSED to treat us and told us to go to quick care. more

Poor Service and Forgetful Doctor 9/18/2009

One of my biggest complaints concerning Desert Valley Pediatrics is their lack of Customer Service and the unavailability of calling directly to the office front desk. I tried for two weeks to contact the Doctor that requested me to contact her. Everytime I called I was routed to an automated call center or a central reservationist. I left several messages, faxed info, and eventually had to just go to the office personally to leave a message for the Doctor to contact me. Hate calling to make and appointment 8/4/2009

I was recommended to this group through a friend. I really like doc Perez, she is very knowledgeable and friendly with the kids but I hate when I call they always have me on hold forever! I also agree with all the others, I have usually been called back quickly but once in the actually room I wait about 45 min on average. if they could manage the time more efficiently it would be the best office ever!! Very Rude Doctor/Great office 1/9/2009

The office is great. Most of the front office staff is great too. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS DOCTOR. \r OMG! First let me start by saying I drive 22 miles everytime I go to this office and latley my son has been very sick. So needless to say I'm there at least onece a week. \r I have seen about three doctors in this office but Dr Perez lacks the people personallity. She speaks to you like you dont what you are talking about. A few time I have told her things about my son and she repeats what I say and gives me this look of disbelive. Once she even walked out of the office to check her computer by the room to see if what I was saying was true. \r When she looked at the chart she understood what I was saying. Then at the end of the whole 5 min she spent with us to hear what i had to say she wrote him a perscrptions and said your son just doesn't like daycare thats why he won't get better. ( he has been sick 3 months straight no well time) \r Come to find out he needed surgery. Thankfully from a different doctor in this office that took the time sent us to a ear doctor. Worst EVER receptionist 11/10/2008

I was going to make an appointment for my daughter, after waiting for more than 10 minutes over the phone, the first girl picked the phone and I asked her some questions, and while we were talking the phone was tranferred to other lady without letting me know, and the 2nd lady was very very very rude from the beginning, apparently she was also talking with someone else at the same time, She first yelled at me ""I don't know what you are talking about at all"", of course she would n't know if she wasn't in my conversation with the other girl. then she kept yelling on the phone to me ""hold on!hold on! hold on!"", I was wondering why a such nice personal suddenly became a such rude one, I realized it was a different one when she said ""what open appointment she offered to you"". best doctors in town 8/12/2008

I have two kids ages 12 & 4 and they have always seen Dr. Downey or other doctors in his office when he isn't there. I have never had to wait past my appointment time and when I have had to go to the sick call side the wait has only been long on one occassion but that was understandable because there was a really bad virus going around. The doctors are always great with the kids and take time to explain things and answer questions that I have. I would not change doctors offices for anything. Good doctors that you're comfortable with are hard to find and great care is worth having to wait for sometimes! Not to mention both my kids love Dr. Downey and are not scared to go to the doctors even if it's for a shot! Pros: Doctors & Nurses are great with the kids, weekends & sick call avail. Cons: sick call wait time is long sometimes more

Just too busy 4/12/2008

I brought my children to Desert Valley for several years, and between well and sick care they have seen several pediatricians there. To their credit, the pediatricians that they have there were very good, but they are ridiculously overcrowded. I have been to dozens of appontments and it is very normal to wait well over an hour even when you have an appointment. I also echo the other reviewers complaint about them not returning phone calls. There are lots of good pediatricians in Las Vegas that don't have the same problem with being overcrowded. Pros: Good Doctors Cons: Poor office staff, extremely long wait times more

Disappointed 3/26/2008

I was referred to this clinic by a close friend. I have taken both of my children on numerous occasions to both their summerlin and centennial hills offices. Each visit I was disappointed. The wait at the summerlin hospital was ridiculous. I waited about an hour after my scheduled appointment just to get into a room to see the nurse. Then I waited another 40 min to see the doctor. The long wait was extremely hard on my children. The wait at the centennial office is much shorter however the staff never seems to know what was going on. My daughter's pediatrician had instructed me to go into the office and pick up a request form for her to get some testing done at a lab nearby. When I went into the office and asked the receptionist she looked very confused and tried to tell me that I had been mistaken. After speaking with a couple of nursing and making me wait about 20 min. she brought out the form but had forgotten to bring out the container that was needed. As a whole, Desert Valley is horrible about returning phone calls. The offer and medical advice line to call. Your lucky is you get a call back that day or even a call back at all from them. My daughter had been running a very high fever and showed multiple signs of a UTI which was turning into a Kidney infection (very painful)! The office expressed no urgency about the matter. Stating that it would take them several days to get an answer back to me. Meanwhile my daughter is in tears every time she uses the bathroom. Angry and frustrated I ended up having to take her to a quick care later that evening who got her started right away on anitibiotics. They told me that she should not have had to wait any longer. To all those parents who are considering taking there children to Desert Valley I encourage you to think otherwise. Cons: Lack of concern for each individual child. more


I have a 15 month old and we see Dr. William Downey. He is a great doctor. Always checks everything very carefully, very easy to talk to, asks proper questions, Great with kids, and More. The office has a sick and well side. The office staff seems friendly and helps with billing issues. The only complaint I have about this office is that it is VERY VERY BUSY! We never get in to see the doctor on time (really what doctor office do you?) we always have to wait AT LEAST 30 minutes. And the parking to the building is HORRIBLE! Because it is located in the same complex at Summerlin Hospital! But other than that the doctors are wonderful! Pros: Great doctors, very friendly , good office staff, easy to make appointments Cons: HARDLY ANY PARKING AVAILABLE AND IT IS A VERY BUSY OFFICE NEVER GET IN ON TIME! more
