Our Favorite Zoo 7/12/2006

The Denver Zoo is pretty easy to get to from almost anywhere in the area, and it's become one of our favorite places. Our 4-year-old loves going to the zoo! Boo at the Zoo in October, usually just before Halloween, has been a big hit. If you've got a big car/SUV, heads up (so to speak) on the parking garage; you might be better off parking on the roof or in the other lots. The only drawback to the whole experience is some mighty expensive food and drink choices, but there's plenty of picnic benches and bringing food is just fine. more

Beautiful, but troubling 4/5/2006

The Denver Zoo is like most zoos -- fascinating displays of animals (especially cute babies), and pleas for animal conservation. The truth may be darker. Denver Zoo is probably no more guilty than others, but zoos breed baby animals to bring in visitors. Once they are grown, they are not so valuable. Many need to be "rescued" by animal sanctuaries. The Denver Zoo broke up a family of large primates last year -- a male was relocated to another zoo. The problem is, these family groups in the wild would stay together forever (or at least until a member decided to move on, or was forced out by the group itself). How'd you like your cousin to be forcibly relocated? This is part of zoo economics. Keep visiting if you must, but let Denver Zoo know how you feel! Zoos should put animals before profits. more

Lions, Tigers and Bears! 2/1/2006

The Denver Zoo is awesome! They have so many amazing exhibits! The lions are awesome and the monkeys couldn't be any cuter! During the holidays, they have Nightlights, which is so pretty! Their gift shop is really good and they have great programs for kids! It is a little expensive, but discount tickets are available all around town! more

Fun day trip for the family 10/30/2005

We love the Denver Zoo. I have been going to this zoo for almost 40 years now and have seen it change and grow. They have wagons you can rent so kiddos do not have to walk. They love this. My boys like the monkeys and the train ride the most. The snakes and spiders are always a hit with them too. It is not expensive for admission, they offer annual memberships. The food is so-so and expensive. more

I love this zoo 8/24/2005

Over the past few years, the Denver Zoo has upgraded the attractions and added new areas to the zoo. I think they do an excellent job educating the public on different aspects of animals and attractions at the zoo. It is always a pleasure to visit. more

Nice, Centrally Located Zoo 8/21/2005

The Denver Zoo is very accessible, near City Park, and just added a new area for tigers and lions. You see them closeup through the glass exhibit that was added. And the growth of the zoo also includes a new parking structure, making it easy to get in and out. Check out the lights events in December when they add lights throughout the zoo for the holidays. more

get the membership 8/11/2005

if you have kids and live in the city, get the membership and visit all you want - go for an hour or for the afternoon, it's fun to visit over and over. The new lion habitat is very cool, also don't miss the carousel or the train. more

Awsome Zoo Bring your own food and drinks though! 8/8/2005

What an experience this Zoo is. It is a day outing, as it takes that long to get through it. Make sure you go on a cooler day, as the animals will be more active. My kids 3 and 5 love the zoo...especially the otters. The monkey island is great too. Make sure when going you bring your own food and drinks, the prices are pretty high in my opinion. we paid near 8 dollars for three bottles of water. Otherwise this is an awesome zoo, I recommend it highly...on cooler days. If the animals are sleeping all day the kids get a little upset! more

Wildlife in the City 8/7/2005

A trip to the zoo makes for a really fun day out. We have a family membership and it's been so great to take a friend and all of our kids out for a day or a half day. The exhibits are fun, there is a great variety of animals and the food at Sambuku Grill (I think that's the name) is really quite good. If you have a membership you get a % off the food, which makes it very affordable. The carousel and train rides are a must if you have kids that are young enough to enjoy those types of activities. more

Denver Zoo-A place for all! 8/3/2005

I LOVE the Denver Zoo, my kids love the zoo and my parents love the Denver Zoo! There is free parking, cheap annual passes, and tons to see at the Denver Zoo. You can make it an hour trip, or an all day trip. They have reasonably priced food, a small train, and a carousel. They also boast a brand new predator exhibit. You are always going to see something interesting there. The zoo staff is friendly and there is a lot to see. I have been to many zoos across the US and I am excited that I live near this one! more
