Cataract Surgery has been a life changer! 5/10/2011

I chose Dr. Dell to do my cataract surgery and could not be happier. I was impressed with the great service the staff gave me. They were friendly and spent the time to answer all of my questions and they alleviated all my concerns. After meeting with Dr. Dell I had complete confidence in him and knew I was in good hands. I have been wearing glasses forever and now I don't need them at all. I can't say enough, this place gives great care. more

Dr. Tom Walters and the staff at Texan Eye Care are the best 5/3/2011

From the first visit to the post-operative period, Dr. Walters and staff have been absolutely the best I've ever seen. There is no waiting on arrival and all the staff are extremely courteous and efficient. The efficiency is the result of both the professionalism of the staff and the office processes that eliminate delays in your visits for both diagnosis and treatment. This is an office system that gets you in on time and out before you know it. The personalized attention is heartwarming, and you leave with a good feeling. The procedures I had were very complex, but I was kept informed at every stage of the diagnosis and treatment, and experienced absolutely no pain or anxiety once I was in the surgery suite. I was nervous before the procedure (this is from a man who is deathly afraid of needles and scalpels) but was pleasantly surprised at how sincerely my concerns were appreciated and dealt with to allay my fears. My highest recommendation goes out to Dr. Walters and staff. more

Poor customer service 4/18/2011

I'm very frustrated. After the TSO stopped accepting the ""foster care"" medicaid, we had to switch to Texan Eye Care in Georgetown. I was relieved that someone else took the insurance that wasn't 100 miles away! We got in over spring break, got the new glasses ordered. After 4 weeks (yes, this is medicaid, it takes that long) I called and asked if the glasses were in. The woman informed me that they were. Never explained why we hadn't receieved a call yet about them or said anything else. \r \r We attempted to go in on a Saturday. They are closed! It's not a case of we just missed them on Saturday, but they are only open Mon-Fri, 8a-5pm! When I called to ask them if they were open on Good Friday, since the kids are out of school, I was on hold for more than 12 minutes. After FINALLY getting answered, I was expressing my frustration and the woman said ""We aren't going to change our hours!"". Not even, I understand you are upset, I'm sorry this wasn't explained to you or anything. But ""We are a doctor's office and hold doctor's hours"". I told her that all the doctor's I know, including other eye doctor's and regular physicians, offer hours on Saturday and some on Sunday!! \r There was never an apology for the long hold time either. \r \r I'm sorry I'm forced to go here. We may drive the 100 miles for some courtesy! more

Austin's Worst Optometry Experience 4/8/2011

Short version: I went in, got a (bad) prescription, had glasses made (elsewhere), couldn't see, went back, was given the same (bad) prescription and told that it was the glasses, had new glasses made, still couldn't see, and got my eyes checked at Stars in Your Eyes, who gave me a wildly different prescription that works. Long version: I went in and got a prescription for glasses, had glasses made online and tried them for about a week, with no luck. I just couldn't see. I brought them in, and Texan Eye checked the lenses, said they matched the prescription, and that I should have another exam. So, I had another exam, where they gave me almost EXACTLY THE SAME PRESCRIPTION. We're talking within the margin of error of the test. Then they told me that I shouldn't have had glasses made online, and that I should have purchased them from Texan Eye. Well, I figured maybe they have a point; online glasses may not be the best solution. Eventually, I chose a new frame and had new glasses made to the prescription and STILL COULDN'T SEE. I'm furious at this point, but I give them the benefit of the doubt (they did check twice), so I went back to Gene Rogers (who is amazing) and had him check the lenses. They're perfect, and to the prescription. So I call Texan Eye to go back for another exam- they can't see me for a full week. I then realized I would be insane to go back to Texan Eye, who cannot accept that they gave me a bad prescription, and went to Stars in Your Eyes, who got me in within a couple hours. They were much better, and more importantly, were able to give me a good prescription! The prescription, when I took it back to Gene Rogers to change the lenses, was different enough that he called over everyone who works with him to see how badly Texan Eye dropped the ball. Not to mention, I never had to wait less than 45 minutes to see the doctor when I went to Texan Eye. If you're going to make an appointment, keep it, please. more

Impeccable Service! 2/2/2011

My regular doctor recommended me to Dr. Dell for Cataract Surgery and was assured I would be in good hands. I was hesitant to go to such a large establishment but they managed to give me the individualized care I was looking for. The examination was thorough and I'm now more educated about my eyes than I've ever been. I felt Dr Dell was honest about the positives and negatives of the surgery and gave me the facts. The surgery was easy. They have multiple locations and the surgery and follow ups are not done in the same location. That was a little inconvenient but luckily they are very close to each other and centrally located. I couldn't be more pleased after surgery with my vision. I enjoy getting rid of my cataracts and glasses! Overall, if you have concerns about this place, rest assure you are in good hands with Dr. Dell and his lovely staff! more

Dr. Tom Walters 2/2/2011

For my upcoming cataract surgery I must admit I was a bit apprehensive. Dr. Walters and his staff made the experience very stress-free. They told me what to expect and the outcome has been fantastic. I recommend Dr. Walters and his staff for anyone facing eye surgery. They make it as stress free as it could be. more

Dr. Tom Walters 1/14/2011

My LASIK surgery was so much better than I could have ever expected. I had 20/20 vision by 6pm same day! Dr. Walters and his staff at Laser View Vision Correction were so comforting. They explained everything before they did it and I was totally at ease. Dr. Walters made sure I was relaxed the entire time. The recovery was amazing. I was up making dinner and for my family that evening. The next day was even better. I went shopping and got a massage....perfect after surgery day. I highly recommend this group to anyone that would like to experience the life change of having perfect vision. more

experts at eye surgery 12/15/2010

Steven Dell did an awesome job on my eyes. I was surprised at how well the surgery went. I was shopping the day after my surgery with my daughter! I, like anyone would be, was pretty frightened by the idea of cataract surgery but they do a good job at explaining stuff so I knew what to expect pretty much the entire time. The staff is friendly and after appointments are easy. I don't have any complaints and Dr. Dell exceeded my expectations. more

Lasik Surgery Euphoria 11/9/2010

I just had Lasik surgery done at LaserView Austin Vision Correction Center and it has been life altering. Dr. Tom Walters is a master. I was extremely impressed by his diligence, kindness, knowledge and proffesionalism. The entire staff there was great and Dr. Walters was superb. You could tell he had done this a million times. Every part of his care was so smooth and thorough. Anyone considering getting Lasik done should not even consider seeing someone else. experience has been perfect. more

Dr. Walters: Excellent surgeon 11/1/2010

Before surgery, my uncorrected vision was 20/400 for distance and I had to wear reading glasses for near. I have dry eye syndrome, which precluded LASIK. Using a procedure that is basically like cataract surgery, Dr. Walters replaced my natural lenses with astigmatism-correcting lens implants in a monovision prescription. (In monovision, one eye is corrected for distance and the other is corrected for near. In a matter of weeks, the brain learns to rely mostly on one eye for distance vision and mostly on the other eye for near vision. I had been wearing contacts in a monovision prescription for several years.) He operated on my eyes one at a time, a week apart. Each time, the procedure and recovery were completely painless. Now my distance vision is 20/15 (which is better than 20/20), and my near vision is perfect. I'm absolutely thrilled with my results, and I very highly recommend Dr. Walters! more

Great Experience!!! 11/1/2010

Had my consultation with Dr. Dell a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the process. Dr. Dell was very polite and informative about my surgery. He answered all my questions and listened to all my concerns. I'm a little surprise with all the other reviews because my visit was flawless. I would definitely recommend Dr. Dell to anyone! more

Fantastic Results from Dr. Tom Walters 10/17/2010

I had delayed cataract surgery far too long.....to the point where I was actually legally blind. Notwithstanding, Dr. Walters performed surgery on both eyes and his reputation for perfectionism was to my benefit. I now have 20/20 vision uncorrected in both eyes after previously wearing contact lenses for 40 years. I opted to remain awake during the entire process and found it absolutely painless. Remarkably, I was seeing clearly by the next morning. Before scheduling surgery, I did my research and was not disappointed, thereby giving Dr. Walters my highest recommendation without hesitation. more

best around, without a doubt 9/29/2010

I finally decided to make the jump and get my eyes zapped. I did a lot of research on my own into the different types of procedures and eventually decided on the IntraLase method. I did even more research on the doctors in the area, and even though there are a few who seemed to be better than most, Dr. Dells experience and accomplishments really stand out. \r I've got this really bad reflex/ phobia thing when people start poking around my eyeballs, but overall, all went great and I'm sooo glad I did it. BEST MONEY IVE EVER SPENT. Thanks Dr. Dell and to the nurses that had to hold my nervous legs still. ha! more

Excellent experience with cataract surgery 9/26/2010

From start to finish my experience having cataract surgery was excellent. Dr. Dell and his assistant Marga kept me informed on my options and everything went according to plan. As for the result of the cataract surgery, my eyesight is next to perfect. Thanks for the great treatment!\r \r Lorraine Harbour more

Great docs. HORRIBLE time management. 1/5/2010

I've gone to this office for two years now and not one of my appointments has ever been on time. I have sat for anywhere between a half hour to 1.5 hrs in the waiting room. On multiple occasions, clients have made complaints to the front desk and several have walked out saying they would not be back. I myself have had to walk out because I can take only so much time off from work. Their lack of proper time management in getting patients in and out is extremely inconvenient and in my opinion, unprofessional and disrespectful but I continue to go to this office because it's true that their doctors are very knowledgable but I would suggest booking their first morning appt if you have any hopes of being seen on time. Just to reiterate, I have waited OVER 1.5 hrs past my scheduled appt time before being seen. Keep this in mind when making your decision whether to use them or not. more
