Day Spa 255

I've been in dozens of spas in many different states over the years and this is by far the worst spa experience I've ever had. My sister and I booked facials and hair appointments for what we thought would be a nice ""relaxing girls day"" at the spa. When we arrived the spa was less than inviting (literally and figuratively). We were left standing for quite some time before anyone acknowledged our presence and when they did, acted like we were a bother to them ... which we probably were since every stylist/employee seemed to be sitting around reading magazines and talking/texting on their phones. The place was shabby, carpet dirty and ripped and the facials we received were mediocre at best. No explanation of the service, no consultation ... just slap it on and get it over with! We were so disgusted with the experience that we paid for our facials and told an older gal (either the owner or manager ... Peggy?) that we had an emergency and had to leave without getting our hair done (we were trying to tactfully get out of there). Expecting a response of ""gee thats unfortunate .. when can we reschedule you ... blah blah ... we instead suffered the wrath of a nasty woman who practically drop kicked us out the front door. We made the right decision in leaving .... and of course never returning. I suggest you learn from our experience and stay far away from this train wreck of a ""spa"". more

Having my normal spa loose their massage therapist to some unforeseen medical crisis, I booked at 225. I walked in and one of the stylist was standing at the counter. She looked up, gave me one of those ""omg she is gonna be a cheapo"" looks like 'how dare you actually walk in here' looks and immediately went back to her magazine!!!!!!! I am assuming the older lady that came to greet me was either an owner or manager. She asked me my name and I told her, she then said, 'oh yeah, you're here for eyebrows right?' ""No, a massage"" - ""oh yeah"".. and she shows me to another room and says ""Its gonna be a while, just fill out this paperwork"" and leaves.....Ok first off the room is overly lit, small, and not very relaxing; not what I expect when I am going for a massage. And it was cold. Second, there was no offering of something to drink. Third, no explanation of who was going to do my massage or how long my wait was going to be. So, as I wait, some other lady comes through calling out someone else name and looks at me and says, ""you are not her"" and I said, ""No, I am not"". Then finally the massage lady get there and comes through mumbles something about who I must be and she will be with me in a moment after she sets up. I sit there wondering ok, and you were not here before setting up for what reason? And I guess it was like she read my mind because she came back out and apologized and introduced her self and invited me back to my room. Her massage wasn't bad, she did exactly what I had asked for, but I didn't feel anywhere near as relaxed as I do normally when I get my massage. I didn't get goose bumps not once (in case anyone out there measures like I do.. goosebumps =awesome). But I was cold the entire massage and was so glad when i got covered up and the hot towels on the feet were superb!! So, I would rate the therapist higher than the experience itself, but not much higher. Overall, I wasn't impressed. I will be making the busy weekend appointments with my previous Spa and I wont be going back. more

Take a look at the three posts with 5-star ratings. ALL of them are on the same day and year. I find it hard to believe that three people gave such a high rating on the same exact day. I wouldn't put too much trust in the reviews given here. more

I've seen improvement since getting several micro-facials over the last 2 months. My skin feels better, and more importantly looks better. She gave me a deep hydrating cleanse which lessened my fine lines. My skin feels softer and smoother than it has in years. Pros: people, the location more

Relaxed atmosphere - not uptight or pretentious. Great staff - I recommend Kristin for massage, and Debbie or Greg for hair. I always leave feeling good about myself. The location is good because it's near University Mall and Eastgate. Anyway, I recommend it! more

He gets my hair, and consulted with me to give me the right color and shape to complement my features. Plus, he's fun. Several high maintenance girlfriends and I were highly satisfied with our Spa Day - with facials, massages, and manicures. The staff walked us through things, made us feel good, and did a great job, and were fun!!!. I defintely plan on going back and would recommend this place to anyone. We didn't have our hair done, but the salon area, which is separate, seemed busy. The Spa area is separate, and has its own waiting area, which was more relaxing and private. My wife is in medical school here in Chapel Hill and does not have very much time off to spend time on herself with her demanding schedule. For our anniversary I purchased her a package that included a manicure/pedicure and a facial. She used the manicure/pedicure when she had time and then had boards etc. so was unable to use the facial for a good while. She went to redeem her gift card and the owner told her she would have to pay half of the facial b/c of the time it had been since the purchase. She is not confrontational at all and could not reach me so proceeded to get her facial. The lady that gave the facial was excellent and when she proceeded to meet the owner up front she called me and was able to reach me, and explain what the OWNER had told her about paying half of the facial. I asked her to put me on the phone with him and explained to him calmly that I had already paid for the facial in full and that nowhere on the card did it say a time limit, and that I shouldn't have to pay again for something I had already paid for. Immediately as a child would have a temper tantrem, He proceeded to YELL at me and tell me fine its free (which is RIDICULOUS) as I had already paid for it IN FULL and he hung up on me with my wife's cell phone and TOSSED it at her and YELLED AT HER TO ""GET OUT NOW"", JUST GET OUT, ITS FREE!!!! Multiple times. She politely asked him if she could tip the lady who gave her facial and she did. She proceeded to come to me in tears over the way he treated her. I had the pleaseure of going to Day Spa 255 w/ my girlfirends for a friends wedding and we had the most luxurious time! The entire staff was so very friendly and patient with us. We had 8 girls being primped. Facials, manicures, pedicures, hairdoos.....the ""works!"" Debbie was my hair stylist and she is wonderful. So kind and sweet. I told her what i wanted done and she did exactly that plus 10. She made nice conversation w/ me. Her husband Greg also works there, what a nice man, very handsome! (sorry Deb) She told me a little about her daughter and she sounds delightful, just like her mother! I HIGHLY....HIGHLY recommend this Spa. Its like getting your hair done by family!!! I've been to Day Spa and I find that the staff are very friendly and really try to give you what you want. I've only ever had one mix up there, and the staff offered to make up for the mistake. Sure, the decor isn't the most modern, but the knowledge and the friendliness of the staff more than compensates. The manicurist...Nancy, I think her name is is so thorough. I really like how she takes her time to do a good job and makes sure that she doesn't cut you, not like in the chop shops. The lady that does the facials, Jamie, is really nice and does a lot to make you comforatable and give you advice on how to take care of your skin. more

I was there when you came in that morning to have your services and you were offered other services not to mention the fact that you assured the staff that your crew would be showing up on Saturday. I am a loyal patron of Day Spa 255 and when people like you want to be spiteful and petty it is a shame. more

I have been to Day Spa 255 several times for a facial and massage..Jamie and Penny are great.!! I never leave disppointed and always leave very relaxed ! more

I do NOT recommend this place. I had my relatives coming in from out-of-town, and arranged a day at the spa for them at Day Spa 255. They showed up, only to be informed that the technicians who were scheduled to perform the services were out and they had not arranged for anyone else to take their place. They did not apologize, call ahead of time, nor offer any other services. We then cancelled our business, as well as cancelled additional appointments the next day, since we were unsure if they their technicians would call in sick again. The owner of the Spa then proceeded to call us and YELL at us. Yes, she called our private number and proceeded to chastise us and raise her voice for the fact that we cancelled (when she was the one who couldn't provide service). I ask people not to use this Spa. more

Missy cuts my hair here and she is fabulous. It always looks great and takes no time at all to do. My hair always looks exactly like I want it and I always get complimented on it. I have recommended this salon to others and would definately do so again! more
