I love this place. Bartenders rang from young and beautiful women to the older seasoned guy on Friday night flipping his metal shakers in the air to put on a show for you. Could crowd, very mixed group. Great martini's, reasonable prices, warm atmosphere. Great for ladies night out. Pros: strong drinks, great variety Cons: smokey, sometimes crowded more

If you're looking for somewhere to go on a first date this is the place, but you have to get there early to find a seat. If you're looking for a place to hang out with your friends and have good conversation this is the place. It started out as six friends and it grew to 11 and the waitress did everthing she could to accomodate us, she was very very nice and helpful. The martinis are to die for... I had three!!! The Costa Rican is really good, the Peachy Keen is good, but A Nice Pair is the best!!!! I can't wait to go back it was great!!!!! Pros: Martinis, Nice Waitstaff Cons: Not enough seating more

A nice, casual place to a calm any evening w/ sipping on a great martini. Mellow vibe allows you to actually have a conversation w/o feeling like your shouting for everyone else to hear. The variety on the martini menu can't be matched.......... Pros: Drinks, Atmosphere more

This bar rocks! With decently priced martinis (7.50), good crowd and one hell of a whiskey and scotch list to boot this place is outstanding! It is a very crowded on the wkends but it really never bothered me enough to pass the great value and the selection. Pros: value, selection more

No place like the Davy! 11/8/2002

By far the BEST martini's in Houston! I had my first martini there and haven't found any other place that can make one better. Not only are they good, have two and our toasted! As for the place itself...very retro chic meets modern decor, GREAT MUSIC (especially on wednesdays), friendly service and awsome drinks! Pros: Great Drinks, Excellent Music, Good service Cons: very smokey, limited parking more

It doesn't get any better than the Davenport. Tucked away from the bustle, hassle and pretention of the typical club and bar scene, the Davenport is a cool alternative. It's incredibly stylish with an inexhaustible liquor selection. You may pay more for a drink there, but it's guaranteed to be a great one and plan on pacing yourself. Their bartenders make the BEST martinis and margaritas and the patrons are generally laid back and conversant. It's the perfect place to take a date or friends from out of town. This place is great for lounging! They bring in some good DJs on Wednesdays, so the music itself is worth going. The crowd is very mixed so you won't feel uncomfortable, and the atmosphere is relaxed; although some people misinterpret 'lounge' and come a little too casual. ie a girl showed up in sweatpants, flip flops, and a dirty t-shirt. I certainly wouldn't go out in my pajamas. The drinks are the best anywhere, and the selection is outstanding for the size of the place. I have been to Davenport at least twice a month since it opened and I've never had a bad time. The staff is always great and so are the drinks. For those people who gripe about the service, I bet you are also the same people who drop a quarter into the tip jar believing you are a big tipper! I haven't been to Davenport for awhile but lemme tell you what I think. Smokey is fine. What do you expect at a lounge that serves such great martini's and scotches, a d#$@ biodome? This isn't Austin ya know. Also, I noticed someone complaining about the prices. Count the pour, dude. Anyway, good times, good drinks, and for the most part, good people. Just one thing could bring this place close to perfect.
