Dana's Dance & Gymnastics

My four year old just started at Dana's. She has been in ballet since 2 and gymnastics since 1 and a half. She just started tap. The place seems ok. We've only been attending classes for a month. The place could use some updating because it smells a little bad but besides that we're satisfied so far. Maybe not updating the facility keeps costs down and that's a good thing. more

I went to Dana's Dance recital in June. It was the best dance recital that I have ever attended. The music, lighting, and everything was very professional. It was like going to a professional show. We went to watch our neighbor dance and I was very impressed. I am registering my two daughters this week for classes. more

I am the proud mom of two dancers (one company dancer and one recreational dancer) who have attended Dana's for the past two seasons. After being at another local studio for eight years both of my daughters were burnt out and ready to quit. My oldest daughter talked me into trying out Dana's even though it's almost a 30 minute commute each way. Lets just say we've NEVER regreted our decision for one minute! Dana's offers a variety of classes in several areas of study from beginners to advanced and even a recently added adult class that focuses on stretching, abs, and cardio. The teachers have several years of experience and continue to train professionally. They are passionate about dance and love the kids! I have two children @ Dana's. 1 on the company dance team & 1 on the gymnastics team. They love the coaches and dance teachers there. We have looked around and compared Dana's to other gyms and dance studios in the area and none of them compare to what Dana's has to offer. I wouldn't take my children any where else. My daughter has been here for 5 years, and been state champion/district champion on several events over the years. Obviously the gym has good staff to have accomplished this with my daughter as well as all of the other champion gymnasts. This gym has students driving in from all over the city to work out in the gym and dance studio. We have a diverse group of kids and adults and the atmosphere is always upbeat. I have no complaints with the gym, staff, etc. I would recommend this gym/dance studio to anyone. Pros: Good coaches and dance instructors. Producing good dancers/gymnasts. Cons: Inadequate lighting in the parking lot after dark. more

I only know about the competitive gymnastics program at Dana's. Instead of providing corrective feedback to the gymnasts, the coaches yell and belittle the children. I have witnessed a coach yell at the girls and throw his hat across the gym in anger. This type of behavior is unprofessional, childish, and should not be tolerated by any parent wanting their child to enjoy or excel in gymnastics. I have heard him call gymnasts fat and ask if they are stupid. There are gyms with different philosophies, I suggest you search elsewhere if you daughter is interested in gymnastics.
