Best

The goblet sized margarita glasses are perfect for a casual hang out at a good price, and the spicy BBQ wings are my favorite.

Worst

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/20/2012

Hi , I just left my local BBQ in my neighborhood (Chelsea 8TH AVE)about 20 minutes ago. This was indeed the worst experience I have ever had. I had 4 drinks with a friend of mine and 2 appetizers. I was told I could not have a seat at a booth unless I order an appetizer * 7.99 to 9.99).. I had to sit on top of 20 different people or pay for appetizers not a problem , OK. I can live with that. My problem lies within the service at the end of the night. Upon getting my receipt from the less then par waitress she informed my bill was $42 and change..She then said ""so sorry your bill really is $77.00 and ripped up the first bill. It was oh so fast and I accepted that but did not scrutinize the bill because I believed her. Upon reviwing the bill I realized this was not valid and the bill that I signed was valid. Why I would pay $97.00 for a $42 , she says $75 later is beyond me. I spoke to the manger two minutes later and he said he could do nothing that it was signed and chuckled that there was nothing I could do about it. I have never been treated so poorly !! I live 2 blocks from the area and to be treated and scamme is a horrible way to do buisness. I told him I was putting a claim with my credit card because it was not valid. I will never and spread the word do business with a company who preys upons people credit card. If you review the cameras you will see the waitress give me not one but two reciepts and it was so fast i did not have time to scrutinize the bill. I have worked in retail he could have voided and redid the reciept . Hee REFUSED too and chuckled and said ""have a great day"" he did not care about me being a repeat customer. SO SAD! you can loose sight of the big picture. I have dispued the charge and never again. more

Needs to be more about making customer happy 1/17/2012

The wings are huge. So their kinda hard to pull apart.i asked them can they please chop them up they was t Like oh we don't do that. My wing almost flew outta my hand to another table trying to I'll them apart.plus all that sauce doesnt help! But don't get me wrong the wings are fab and I love their drinks. I don't really buy the rotisserie because it's not fully cooked. The rice be hard some times. Oh and if you want to have a birthday this is not the place they give you corn bread and whip cream and it's a thin piece lol. more

Not Thankful on Thanksgiving at Dallas BBQ 11/27/2011

I went to Dallas BBQ on TG'ing to give myself a break from cooking this year and I chose them because usually I'm pretty satisfied with their meals, but this time it was horrendous. They offered turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. The entre was a pile of slop. The turkey was diced and placed in the gravey and poured over the stuffing which made the stuffing extremely soggy and the taste was horrible. It looked like I was being fed in a homeless soup kitchen. Honestly, I did volunteer work in Soup Kitchens and I'm pretty sure they ate better than I did that day! I will never, ever in my life eat there again for Thanksgiving. Whoever cooked that meal should be fired! Shame on you Dallas BBQ. Though many plates were being turned away why did you continue to serve it. It was not up to standard for your business. I do have to say that the pumpkin pie was the only enjoyable thing brought to my table. more

POOR EXCUSE FOR A SOUTHERN BAR B Q JOINT! 10/1/2011

During my 1st visit to NYC, I cam e across this joint and decided to give it a try. BAD Decision! The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired - kinda drab and dim. The hostess wanted to seat me upstairs since I was dining along - I asked if the cost of my meal would be any different than the other diners and he stated it would not be so I told him I wanted to sit in the front near the window. I order the Beef ribs and baked potato - HORRIBLE! The ribs were not edible because they didn't pull the membrane off the ribs, so all the meat was under the membrane. I had to use my fingers to pull what little meat I could salvage from the bones - not a good look! The 15% gratuity was included in the bill - this seems to be a standard practice in Times Square. Make sure you check you bill so you will not give them a double tip. The best thing about this place was the drinks - they give you a 20 oz round glass. more

Nice atmosphere, Reasonable Prices & Good food 3/6/2009

I have been to almost every BBQs in the city and I think the one on 23rd st has by far the best service and the food is reasonably good for such low prices. I've never had a problem with the place. You get what you pay for and a little more. Servers are great here and they make sure you are satisfied, even tried take out and that was great. This place is a good spot for casual dining, if you want fancy or romantic this is not it but a great place non the least. more

What happened? 10/29/2008

I used to go to Dallas BBQs around the city all the time a couple of years ago but something changed for the worse.... The past 2 times that I've been there, the food quality has been awful. They either over-cook or under-cook what you order and when it's busy, they'll have you waiting forever for your meal. The only thing worth going for is their frozen drinks (as I can see I'm not the first to say - below). I used to love place but I will never eat here again!!! Pros: Great frozen drinks (especially when they give you the free shot!) Cons: Bad quality food, bad service, food not worth the prices more

ONLY GOOD FOR THEIR PINA COLADA'S, THE FOOD HERE IS HORRIBLE!!! 8/15/2008

The most recent reviewers are correct.......the food here is poor! I went there yesterday with my gf and I ordered the 1/4 chicken meal, she ordered a cheeseburger (which is far overpriced). When the chicken arrived, it was 95% fat with hardly any meat on it whatsoever!! My gf's cheeseburger (which she asked to be WELL-DONE) arrived pink and bloody! When we called the Non-American waiter over, he tried to argue that the meat was fine on the burger!! Can you believe that?? I explained to him that a bloody burger is NOT considered well done in this country. He did reluctantly bring it back and brought a better cooked burger (still not well done) 15 minutes later. I would NEVER EVER eat here again or waste my money at any of the Dallas BBQ chains and do NOT recommend them for their food. However, they DO have the best Pina Coladas and frozen alcoholic drinks I've ever had. So Dallas BBQ is perfect for a pina colada stop, but not for eating. If you want REAL good southern BBQ, go to Brother Jimmy's!!! I'm sure reviews on here will proove that. Pros: EXCELLENT PINA COLADAS AND FROZEN DRINKS Cons: DISGUSTING FOOD!! more

Delicate subject 7/8/2008

Okay . . . last night my girlfriend from out of town and I went here for a late night snack. We were the only caucasion people there and when we went to sit at the bar, there were seats available except shopping packages on the seats, one package containing toilet paper to be specific. Anyway, we were told matter-of-factly that those packages were not to be removed as one lady was ""waiting for her take out."" It was made very clear that we were not welcome. Funny, if the shoe were on the other foot . . . . more

YUCKKKKKKKKK.... 1/9/2008

i've been to other bbq's in the city but this one was just horrible...It was dirty, food was nasty and cold ....they took their time to bring us the food....and i saw a roach coming out the kitchen....if that wasn't bad i don't know what is....wouldn't recomend it to anyone more

UNSANITARY CONDITIONS 1/9/2008

This place is disgusting. I've been to other BBQ's and they have been great but this one was HORRIBLE! It took us forever to get our food. When it FINALLY came, it was cold! If that wasn't bad enough, we saw a roach crawling around and the bathroom was gross! Don't ever go to this one.. The one on Livingston St. in Brooklyn is pretty good..and the one near Hunter College. more

Mediocre to bad food, Horrible Service 11/18/2007

The food is inconsistent; the burgers are good when cooked properly (a 50/50 proposition); the chicken is really dry and the ribs aren't even the best in a 3-block radius... Their in-restaurant service is slow (30 minutes from arrival until served with entrees), their delivery is VERY slow (usually an hour, even for nearby locations, and they often forget items)... Their managers generally act as if they don't care about their customers... Beware their online service (which operates using faxes that are often ignored). This review applies to the 23rd St. and 42nd St. locations. Pros: Decent burgers when cooked properly Cons: Consistently slow and typically rude service, botched deliveries more

i love this place 4/16/2007

Texas Style Portions 8/5/2006

Eat here and get fat, Texas Style. Its fun to eat here without inhibitions and the greasy big FAT portions make people line up at this joint. Try their margaritas and chicken specials. The Texas honey wings are enormous, probably 12 birds were sacrificed for the size of this plate as its ia meal in itself. Pros: Portions, Food, Fast Delivery Cons: Service (Sometimes), Food, Crowded more

Texas sized food in NY 11/29/2005

I went here for a party with 10-15 friends. There are 2 floors of seating, so there is plenty of room. Chicken and ribs are tasty and moist. The best part is that most of the dinners are close to $10. Serving sizes are generous. Even the drinks are a generous size. The glasses are humongous. The best dish to get is the chicken and rib dinner so you get to sample both. There are also bbq shrimp. more

A Great Place For Food and Drink! 8/30/2005

Not only is this a great place to eat, but there drinks are great too. The food is, good tasting, and affordable and they give you large portions. The decor is fun, it can be a little loud during the weekends. I say weekdays are the best for a lighter crowd. Tthe service is good and the people are friendly. more

Very good food 7/26/2005

Great meals for the money, but the waiters and waitresses--while they bring your meal out what seems to be almost instantaneously--are overworked, and leave you hanging when all you need is a soda refill. All the tables are also uncomfortably small and close together. Fun place to go with great food. more

good cheap soul food 6/16/2005

a great place to eat if you are looking for good cheap comfort food. The food comes out fast too, and they also give a large porportion. not really a place for romance, but definitely a place to dine with friends. more
