Worst Zoo I've Visited 4/14/2009

I took my son to the Dallas Zoo and couldn't get out of there fast enough. It's depressing. The animals look depressed. I know they have tried to make it better, but they have come up far short of reaching that goal. The enclosures are way to small for the animals and most are dank and filthy. If you want to visit a zoo in the area, go to Fort Worth. They have done a superior job there. more

Still a great zoo! 4/12/2006

Okay, so it's not the Ft. Worth Zoo! But the Dallas Zoo has done a lot of improvements in the last few years. The addition of the children's area is awesome! And the admission fees are so affordable. Two summers ago our family bought a pass that got us all in for a whole year and only cost $55!! Try to get that pricing at the Ft. Worth Zoo! I think it's worth the trip! more

Dallas Zoo 3/28/2006

A great city zoo. Lots of walking within but lots to see. Well kepted and nice and clean. Take the dart train right to the zoo. A lot of people prefer the Ft. Worth zoo I think but not sure that I do. We have had many family type trips to the Dallas zoo and have really enjoyed it each time. Took our children there years ago and now take the grandchildren and still have fun there. more

No offense to the other reviewers.... 2/23/2006

But the Dallas Zoo is one of the worst I have ever been to. The zoo is split in half... the half that is run down and the half that it seems that time forgot. So many exhibits were empty and those that were not were very sad. The one gorilla looked so sad and lonely that he was literally crying. It was depressing and the least enjoyable day at a zoo that I have ever had. My 8 year old son even made a comment about how sad all the animals looked. On contrast... the Fort Worth Zoo was one of the best ever. They had so many babies there and the animals were so active that it was truly a magical experience for my son. We've been back a couple of times but have sworn never to go back to the Dallas zoo. The one positive of the Dallas zoo was the children's play area and the shop where you could exchange fossils and other items. I truly think that there are some at the zoo that are trying to make some changes for the better but like I said earlier... it is split in two parts and the changes they are trying to make in one half are completely overshadowed by the dismal attention (or lack there of) given to the older half of the zoo. more

Zoo 12/31/2005

This place is great for school field trips or to take children to because they seem to enjoy it. When I went, a majority of the visitors were children. The zoo is huge and has a lot of animals and keeps on adding more each year. My personal favorite are the colorful birds. more

Getting better everyday! 9/28/2005

The Dallas Zoo is a nice zoo that is really trying hard to become better. They are an older zoo that has been in Dallas for decades. The zoo is nice but shows signs of being a little run down but it does seem that they are always trying to fix it up and are trying to expain their programs. It is a nice way to spend a day with the kids and they have a lot of animals in their enclosures. There is plenty of parking and if you have any questions- stop one of the staff- they are very friendly and helpful. more

Dallas Zoo 8/23/2005

The Dallas Zoo is a wonderful days outing for the family. It has easy access with the DART and is affordable. We liked our last visit so much that we took out a family membership which was just a few dollars then what it cost us to get in for the day. The monorail is great and allows you to see parts of the zoo that you don't get to see on foot. I love the new section with the kids interactive areas and petting zoo that they have. The river bed is also a neat place for the kids to play. more

dallas zoo This is a great place to take the family for a day of fun the kids will love all the different animals and of course the sense of adventure great atmosphere and affordable prices. more

The Dallas Zoo 8/21/2005

Although the Dallas Zoo is not world renounced, it can still be fun. It has 8000 animals on 97 acres, which pretty much means if there is an animal you want to see, they probably have it, short a few pandas and other extremely rare species. The Zoo is ideal for kids and family trips. Everyone should see the zoo at least once. more

zoo 8/19/2005

This is a great zoo. It is a little different than the Fort Worth zoo. I like to go here. But, I dont like the drive to get there. It 's a great place to go and take your kids. If you live far away you will definatly have to take the day off of work . You will most likely get stuck in the dallas traffic . more

A good Zoo 8/19/2005

The Dallas Zoo is a very good zoo. I do enjoy the Ft. Worth zoo much more because it is bigger and it seems like there is more to do, but the Dallas Zoo still gets the job done. The still have all the animals any other zoo would have. It is a great place to take the family and really have a fun-filled day. The food and beverages can be a little pricey, but that's what I've come to expect at attractions such as these. The kids always love the zoo and they can't tell the difference between this zoo, Ft. Worth, or San Diego, and that's all the matters. more

Dallas Zoo 8/19/2005

I highly recommend the Dallas Zoo for a day out with your family. There are lots of different animals to see and they all look well take care of. There is also a gift shop and places where you can eat and there is an area where your children can play in water fountains to cool off. It is a fun day out. more

Dallas Zoo 8/16/2005

What's bad to say about the zoo? A zoo is a great place to lug the kids and captivate their interests for hours. The Dallas Zoo is small but houses lots of animals that will keep the kids happy. Just make sure you are ready to spend hours outdoor in the texas heat. Every dallas resident has to visit the zoo at least once. more

The Dallas Zoo 8/16/2005

The Dallas Zoo is a great place to take kids or friends. It is a good zoo, even though all you ever hear about is the one in Fort Worth. It has all the animals you would expect to be at a zoo, even though they can sometimes be hard to find in their spacious environments. There is a monorail that is high up at one point, and you can ride it and effortlessly see many animals. The reptile area is especially good. There is even a children's area where the kids can both play and learn. It can get hot during the summer, but there are some places to eat indoors. more

Can't Compare to The Fort Worth Zoo 8/1/2005

This zoo is very clean and well maintained. It has some unique features like the tram that goes around the zoo if you prefer to ride instead of walk. The exhibits are nice and you can make a nice family trip here at a low cost. The food and drinks can be a little expensive, but otherwise a very nice family activity. I do like the Fort Worth Zoo Much better, but this is a nice change. more

Good 7/15/2005

This place is a pretty cool place to go. I think that this is about as good as it can be for being a zoo in a big city. I like this place because the animals there are common animals. There really isnt anything that you would see that is out of the norm for a zoo. The scare with the gorrilla getting lose though a few years ago did make me not want to go back to this place. I mean if it can get out then you think that other things can get out. I think that it is a little out of date and maybe needs to get up to date but other then that this place is really nice to go to on the weekends with the family. more
