Best

The empanandas contain some sort of laxative. If you must have the empandas make sure you have access to a nearby bathroom and don't count on using the toilet there.

I went to Dakota Roadhouse after the NY Yankee parade to meet friends of mine. Clearly, everyone had been drinking since about 11AM. A friend of mine went outside to have a smoke, and upon walking back in, the Owner who is an old, grey-haired, overaggressive dude says my friend can't come in because ""He was too drunk."" He wasn't. He was drunk, but definitely showed no signs of being ""too drunk"". Pros: There's oxygen in the place Cons: Everything Else more

don't expect too much.. 1/6/2008

- the dakota has great burgers and the foosball table is top notch, albeit not well lit - that's it for the upside which is still enough to warrant 4 stars. Pros: foosball, beef Cons: clientel more

HORRIBLE!!!! 1/9/2007

I just moved to NYC from the west coast and wanted a place to grab a quick drink and a burger after seeing Ground Zero with my friends. I read good reviews about this place and was psyched to check it out because they say it's low key. I've been experiencing many of the NY hang outs as a bit snooty and thought this place sounded different and un-obnoxious. I got that wrong: The bartender on duty was cute, but SO much more obnoxious than warranted by looks. I waited 15 min to order and it wasn't even crowded..AND my drink was warm. When I asked for some ice in it, I got eye rolling and my glass slammed down on the bar! Next, an old woman who did not seem disruptive or threatening to me came in and asked to use the restroom. An older guy (who I assume was a manager because he kept going in and out of locked doors while I was there) barked at the old woman and told her that if she wasn't a paying customer that she had to leave. She asked him to please make an exception as she was elderly and taking a medication that made her just need to quickly use the facilities. He told her to go to BURGER KING! The woman must have been 80 years old. She told the guy he should be ashamed of himself. I agree!! Then to make things about a million times more offensive, some guy just walked in, went straight to the bathroom and came out 5 min later and walked out of the bar. No questions asked! We decided to get out of there but were really hungry and had no idea where to go nearby, so we deicded to get food before leaving. We had brugers, which were ok. Just ok- not great at all, and the onion on mine was sort of gritty..like it was dirty. Last, as we're leaving my friends and I are horrified by the sound of someone being screamed at from behind a closed door near the back of the bar. We ran out, so I can't say what that was about.. just that I wouldn't recommend going to this place unless you like nasty people, bad food, questionable screaming, and snotty service. NEVER going back!! Pros: None! Cons: AWFUL PEOPLE BAD SERVICE! more

The quickest buzz in town! 11/4/2006

I love this place! I'm from Minneapolis and one of the best experiences I ever had, was chatting with construction workers from ""Ground Zero"". It was the December after 09/11. more

Lower the prices, $4.00 for a bottle od domestic? Bartenders are friendly, food looks pricey but you get alot. Pros: Lisa, Alice, Food more

Great Downtown Dive 5/21/2003

This is an excellent place for a beer or ten after work. The bartenders are all gorgeous, shapely women, but they are virtually the only ones you'll see in the place. The Roadhouse has the best hot dogs downtown and two pool tables, though they're a little steep (I think it's $1.50 a game). It's spacious with a long bar and decent seating. The walls are covered with neon signs and other decorations. And if you get really bored, they have puzzles galore for your entertainment. Pros: Hot Dogs, Pool, Foosball Cons: Few Women more

unpretentious 1/6/2003

I like this place because it is a regular bar without any pretention. Just a regular place to catch a nice buzz. Pros: relaxed atmosphere more

best burgers in ny 7/30/2002

fun atmosphere, great bartenders, and incredible burgers served on english muffins. oh yeah, the grilled cheese and onion rings are among the top also. bonuses include pool tables, buckets of beer, lobster tank, and relaxed atmosphere. one minus - they got rid of the best peanuts ever. Pros: food, pool tables Cons: thursdays too crowded more

Fun TriBeCa Bar 7/10/2002

I used to go to Dakota Roadhouse when I worked downtown. I've been working in midtown for 2 years, but still go & meet friends from my old job down there. There's great on tap beers, a fun juke box & yummy comfort food (best onion rings ever). My friends love the 3 pool table. It's a huge space with a bizarre decor that works (mixture of street and booze signs & truly odd things like a full side croc (or is it an alligator) suspended from the ceiling strewn with neckties abandoned in the bar (including 1 of mine--I swear)). The crowd is mostly yuppyish, but its pretty mixed. By the way, I'm gay & I hang there with my straight friends. I'm not particularly flambouyant, but I've never had a problem (I even met a nice guy there one night, but he had a long term boyfriend). Pros: Great Comfort Food, Eclectic Juke Box, Free ATM Cons: Sometimes crowded more
