One of many ways to feel 10 again 12/1/2005

This art store is great! I initially went to kill time waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant, but it's mind blowing how much time you can spend wandering about. They have lots of "real" art supplies, but the fun lies in the throwback projects they have around every corner. (Colored sand projects, Shrinky Dinks, etc). My roommates and I spent about an hour last year debating between a button maker and a tye dye kit...with the tye dye winning in the end (I'm still rocking the random articles I dyed on a regular basis). Also have the most bizarre and entertaining coloring books around, stuff like 18th Century Costume Design Coloring & Activity Book. Who would need that? Besides me? Nice stuff, nice staff! more

great small art store 10/25/2005

dakota art store is located at 61st and roosevelt, in roosevelt. it is one of the cutest art stores i've ever seen. they have a whole kids section with rubberstamps, clay, stencils, etc... the staff are very helpful and friendly. if you are looking to support a local art store, go here, just expect most of the prices to be a little on the high side! more

Art Supplies 8/20/2005

This is a great little neighborhood store with a surprizingly large collection of supplies for all kinds of arts and crafts projects. They seem to have everything from oil paints to nice paper to silkscreening supplies. Maybe a bit on the pricey side but it's nice that to shop at an art store that's not a big chain. Sometimes theres a really friendly dog there too. more

Nice Art supply store 8/17/2005

I'm no artist, so I'm impressed by any display of canvasses, brushes, and other supplies, of which Dakota has an ample supply. As a parent, what I love about this store is the range of predictable and surprising items for the kids (and for birthday presents for kids you don't know). I always find the art supplies I need here, and other treasures as well. I always find something I want, for myself or for someone else, even if I didn't know it yet. Helpful staff and great location. more
