Service and Atmosphere great. 9/22/2008

Visited this restaurant many years ago (1986) and completely loved it. Happy to have gone back recently, atmosphere was very fun, great staff and overall a good time with my customers. Only critique from my dinner guests were related to luke warm plates and food. Appears as if items sitting, waiting on main entree that allowed some side items to be cold and hard to touch. My food was on the edge of being just perfect. I will go back for sure given the chance. Good wine selection. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Wine List Cons: food was not hot enough more

After 18 years, a complete dissapointment 1/3/2008

After 18 years or so of eating here I've witnessed the service decline, quality decline and the prices increase to the point that I cannot and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The drinks are overpriced, the desserts are only mediocre and the food is a downright dissapointment. Service is horribly inattentive and slow. Management believes a sweet smile and a warn handshake will make problems go away, they won't. It is sad to see such a ""once fine"" restaurant continue to believe their reputation will pull them through, while declining in all aspects of what made them great in the first place. Pros: Convenient Cons: Food is mediocre. Service is slow. Way overpriced. more

Completely empty on a Friday night 12/19/2007

I've been trying to find a nice jazz place in Atlanta and this one is not it. It was almost completely empty at around 10pm while most of hte people that were in it were from the band. The redeeming factors are the good quality music and the quality of the food. I plan to go back just for dinner instead of drinks. Forgot to mention the average age of the crowd was about 40 so this is not a singles place either. Pros: Jazz Cons: empty more

Great Entrees, Service, Desserts, Drinks- As Alantans know, Avoid all Downtown Restaurants during conventions 7/9/2007

Awesome, awesome, awesome. The lamb chops and the escargot are to die for. Food is very rich, so you may want to plan accordingly. Great place to go for just deserts also.\r As all Alantans should know, avoid downtown dining during conventions, however I dined at Daileys during Mart last year service was still above average but a bit slow. Pros: Love it, Love It, the restaurant sticks with only a few dishes that they do very well Cons: Hard to find parking if your not familiar with downtown, more

Excellent Downtown Dining Table, Still! Fabu Dessert Altar! 1/31/2007

Gosh, this was our first visit back to Dailey's in over twenty years. We remember when the Peasant Boys--Bob Amick(One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks), Sterve Nygren(Serenbe Farm), and the late Richard(Can't use his nick name) Dailey, opened this establishment. They were always ahead of the curve, and converted this old parking garage, into a Downtown destination restaurant. It's now under different ownership, but our return visit, was most refreshing. Of course we started in the still cool, jazz bar downstairs, and then up we went. The large dining hall is still basically the same. We both started with the legendary French Onion Soup, that helped to make them famous, and it was just as good as ever. I could not resist that crispy Roasted Duck, with Cognac Sauce. It was my favorite then, as it is now. My partner ordered the Swordfish w/Mustard Sauce. Outstanding! But best of all, they still have, what I call, the Dessert Altar. Walk-up two steps, and you can see the full array of deserts. This is suppose to be the New Year, and my diet. Oh well, maybe next month. It's nice to see people coming back, and moving into the Downtown area. To Dailey's, another twenty-five years. Pros: Still Excellent Downtown Dining! Dessert Altar! Cons: Parking Can Be Tight! more

appealing 9/2/2006

relative to the sheraton hotel where i stayed for the weekend, it was in a good location downtown; within walking distance. dailey's downstairs had great service, fabulous martinis, and jazz at its prime. i went there every night of my stay in atlanta. i will definitely return to this undiscovered hidden hotspot bar whenever i'm in town.\r check it out!! Pros: apple martini Cons: can't think of any more

Beware, service and food sub par 7/24/2006

I arrived at Dailey's off of a recomendation. The wait wasn't bad and the bar downstairs had a nice jazzy feel. I enjoyed the music with my party while we waited for a table. We where escorted up stairs and this is where the disappointment began. The ambiance is ok at best. No one attended to out table until about ten min. of waiting. When the waiter came he rushed us through our dinner selection (which wasnt terrible because I was hungrey). The ceasar salad I recieved was marinated in dressing and took about 20 mins to arrive. when it did come out the waitor split dressing on my guest ear, shirt sleeve, and inside his shirt pocket. He brought a terry cloth (nothing else was said to my guest about drycleaning the shirt or resolving the experience) . The filet arrived about 20min after the salad and it was fatty and tough (I had it cooked mid rare and it came out med). I was very suprised about the poor quality. The sides went along with the quality of the steak, mash potatoes (it was potatoes that were mashed with nothing added for flavor). The greens tasted as if they were frozen and placed in a steamer and onto my plate, not very good. We talk to a manager and told him our unfortunate luck with his restraunt from the salad dressing incident to the filets, he said he would ""try"" to help us out. He soon left and did not hear anything else from him. \r Let me break away with a good comment. The deserts were very good, I enjoyed them immensely, though we waited another 20 min for the desert. After boxing up the deserts we waited 37min for our check. During this time we talk to a lady manager and told her of our experience of the night. She responded sympathetic to the stained shirt and told us it would come out it happens all the time and that she is sorry about the experience. No compensation was given and I walk away $150 dollars lighter with a bad taste in my mouth.\r \r BEWARE\r Pros: Deserts Cons: Service, entrees more

Simple, Satisfying, to die for deserts 11/18/2005

When I went to college in Atlanta, we used to go to Daily's A LOT. We always got soup, salad or appetizer and always desert. It was fabulous. I don't have any bad memory of the food, service or ambiance. I returned several years later with my husband and we both enjoyed it. We just returned tonight and have to say, it was still solid. I got the strip steak which was good (wish I'd gotten the mashed potatoes instead of the steak fries, though). The service was a bit slow, although our server was very attentive otherwise. The only complaint is we had to wait in the smoke-filled bar downstairs for quite a while only to get upstairs and see lots of empty tables. I'd go again and go the appetizer, salad, soup, desert route. Pros: food, deserts Cons: wait, slow more

Just order appetizers and have dessert! 4/13/2005

Other (negative) reviewers may have recieved poor or slow service when a large convention is in town. When the downtown hotels are full, it doesn't matter where you eat, you'll be waiting for a table and you'll get slow service. I find Dailey's is a cut above most other downtown restaurants and ther service (outside of huge convention weeks) is good. I like to go for appetizers and dessert and skip the main course. Most of the appetizers are filling enough to be a main course. This is not a 5 star resaurant but I've been eating here for 15 years when I'm in Atlanta and I'll continue to patronize this establishment every time I'm in town. Pros: appetizers, desserts Cons: downtown crowds more

Not quite the bang for the buck.... 2/17/2005

I must preface this review with the fact that this was a corporate outing, however, I still thought the dinner entrees were a little pricey. Crab cake, shrimp cocktail, and strudel appetizers were all fantastic! Entrees of duck and rack of lamb were lacking any real excitement. I think the menu in general was a little limited, especially when there was only really one style of each type of meat. If you wanted a pork chop, and didn't like how they were preparing it that evening, you were just out of luck (same with chicken, fish, etc). The desserts themselves were HUGE and VERY good! Downstairs jazz was cool for an after dinner hangout, but can get a bit smokey (as I suppose any good jazz club would). I probably would not go back to Dailey's on my own and pay full price, but possibly during Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week. Pros: Dessert, Appetizers, Jazz club downstairs Cons: Entree selection, Entree quality, Entree price more

who are these people??? 7/12/2003

I don't know what Dailey's did to the people who have reviewed, but they are wrong. A group of 8 showed up without a reservation last evening, and despite a quoted 3 hour wait, we were seated in less that 2 (seems the manager worked us in.) Food was great (have the strip) and Sandy was fabulous! Busy, but never inattentive. The place is definately old and show its age, but haw mant restaurants in Atlanta can boast a 20+ year history? They ARE pricey, but worth almost every penny (and the ""way too expensive"" drinks are twice the pour one would find at other upscale establishments!) Pros: group dining, selection, staff Cons: parking, on a wait, no lower $ options more

Relaxing yet contemparary atmosphere 5/15/2003

Dailey's downstairs bar is amazing. With the live music every night, everyone can enjoy themselves. With the enormous selection of martinis and drink, there is something that everyone will find tasty. Also, though the service is slow at times, the bartenders know what they are doing and the cocktailers do too. Pros: Live Music, Large Selection of Dr, Relaxing more

Waste of money 2/21/2003

The dessert is overpriced and horrible. The drinks are over priced. Some waitresses are very slow and have really bad attitudes. I have been to daily occassionally and we always have to shout to hear ourselves over the loud jazz/blues or whatever it is that they play. In a nutshell, not worth a penny more

not quite 1/17/2003

my experience at Dailey's was not a good one. It took FOREVER for the bartender to take our order, and fifteen minutes more to make our drinks-we were two of maybe six people in the bar! On top of this annoyance, the drinks were VERY overpriced, and our waitress was dressed very sloppily. Pros: location, spacious Cons: service, expensive more

Who Is Rating Here? 12/26/2002

I don't believe that anyone who has been currently rating Dailey's has recently eaten there. We went and waited downstairs for our table. Once upstairs the place was not busy and we waited for nothing. The food was mediocre and the management was not receptive to constructive feedback. A waste of money. more

Date Night 11/29/2002

In the past this is the place I would go with a very special person in my life ... and everytime he returns from Europe we make a date for Dailey's ... the manager Greg will seat us at the same table he has for over a decade and we catch up on our lives starting with a enorous Martini to warm us up and usually we order the same Dailey's favorites grilled lamb chops - swordfish and ofcourse the desserts to live for! I frequent this Atlanta icon and recommend for first timeres and to put it on the list of ""must return soon"" places. Pros: Steeped in Tradition, Incredible Chef, Dessert to live for Cons: Calories, Overendulgance more

Dessert in Heaven 8/11/2002

These homemade confections are the best, maybe in the world. And you get MORE than what you pay for here. My favorites are the Paris Brest and the apple tart. The cheesecakes with seasonal fruits are a delight. A nice cordial and a piece of the Lemon Brulee is another favorite. Pros: Dessert anytime, Homemade desserts, Quite a variety Cons: Calorie casualty more

9 8/8/2002

This is a great after work bar. I work right across the street from it and am there 3 to 5 nights a week. The atmosphere is conducive to both relaxation after a hard day at the office and having fun dancing, singing and meeting people. I highly recommend this bar. Pros: Live Entertainment, Great Staff, Dance Floor Cons: Poor Beer Selection more

nothing spectacular... 8/2/2002

I don't think that Dailey's is out to win any awards. I went to Dailey's with my wife for Restaurant Week. We had never been. The deal was great! The food and service were top notch for a restaurant as busy as it was. We felt like the only two in the room because of the way our server treated us. The food wasn't fussy, but it was good. As it turns out, it even says that on the front of the building...""GOOD FOOD"" Pros: Service, Timing Cons: Parking more

The Best Desserts 7/25/2002

Dailey's has the best desserts placed up on a bar with a wide range of choices. It was fun to ask the dessert bar attendent about the desserts. The service was also prompt and went at my pace. more
